In Bavaria, we had a lake that was held back by a moraine aswell. They now call it the Rosenheimer lake. I do not think there was a huge flooding though, it probably just slowly got drained by a river. It also just got filled with sediments in some parts.
Just watched your vid on Morro Rock. I grew up in SLO and did many years of Geology at Cuesta College. Next up was this vid I now live in Richland, WA, and have been to Palouse Falls a few times. I get a bit of joy living in an area affected by something as unique as the glacial floods.
The Bruce Bjornstad books, particularly “On the Trail of Ice Age Floods: a Geological Field Guide to the Mid-Columbia Basin” (2006) would be a great place to start if you wanted to look more into it.
Hi, unfortunately I don’t have any funds for field research this year so I wouldn’t be able to support someone coming from halfway around the world. My research is focused on earthquakes.
This is one of my favorite "stories" of geology.... ancient lake Missoula is so fascinating. Thanks for this!
I agree!
Me too!
I can't believe that this young man doesn't have more followers. He's very good. I really enjoy his videos.

Great to see you back! I love the way you explain geology.
Thank you! More to come!

No shortage of great geology stories on the West Coast.
Another informative video I can understand.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice details !
Thanks!
Great one !
Thanks!
Wow! What is the program you are using to calculate the water speed and depth from google earth?
I haven’t personally done those calculations, that figure is a visualization of the ripples’ elevation seen from the side.
