Hey! Nicolas here. Thanks for the Video. Great review as always.
This Cedar has super light stonewash on the scales and the Vanax blade so the small scratches wouldn't bother you too much.
The Vanax is heat treated in house to 61hrc (basically that's the max hardness you can get out of it with full liquid nitrogen cryo treatment) And the Rwl34 is 63-64hrc.
You can change the detent by adjusting the lockbar pressure a little bit but on your own responsibility.
Thanks again!
Do you have a Instagram or Facebook group? How do you normally announce your drops or books open?
when will they be in stock????????????????????????
His whole site is full of great work. Wow.
What a beautiful design, I fell in love:)
Unfortunately his name isn't Rob Johnson😂
According to his website "My name is Nicolas and I'm the founder of small knife making company - Robjohnsons. The company is named after my great grandfather Robert and his father John who were both talented blacksmiths." Which is where he gets the *Rob* *John* and *"sons"* part of the name since his great-grandfather started the knifemaking occupation in his family and then taught his sons how to make them.
But it's the effort that matters Kole! hahaha
Thanks for the new video💪
Thank you!
This make my Troll blood Boil. I'm angry with you Papa Mustache! I wants one! Got me Sipping HATERAID!!! 😤
Love this, as I wait another 2-3 weeks for mine to arrive. I got the PJ with diamond pattern and RWL34 (which he runs at 63-64 hrc, btw).
Love the enthusiasm Kole. Had to watch again. This might be my new grail. Sick sick sick❤❤❤❤❤
I can't stop watching this video! That knife is truly awesome
Holy sh*t! Gonna have to re-watch on my tv. Looks amazing❤🎉❤🎉
I've got Cypress #59 (v1) and Cedar #33 here, both beautiful knives :) They aren't perfect, especially the Cypress has a few points that needed improvement, but overall they are great knives and imo definitely worth the money. I prefer the Cedar since I always prefer large knives, the Cypress is a bit small for my tastes. But I do love me a front flipper and the Cypress is a beautifully executed one. My main gripe with the Cedar is the flipper, it really doesn't function to well on mine. The detent is reasonably strong, on the stronger side but nothing extreme, yet it is already too much to comfortable use the flipper. My finger slips off half of the time and if it does it hurts quite a bit. Luckily the opening hole is absolutely perfect for the reverse flick, so I can just leave the flipper be.
Amazing piece !!!!
Should be getting mine soon! Thanks for the video!
Beautiful knife, Rob definitely has mad skills, Thanks Kole 😎
Thanks for sharing this with us
That right there is life goals. Such an amazing knife
Holy bajesus. I need that. S8ck sick sick mesmorizing scales and clip
I have this knife in slightly different finish and acid washed blade. It’s very well made, but I am not a huge fan of stepped blade, as it creates additional friction when slicing. Other than that - it is great, and looks stunning.
Thanks for your review.
Wowsers 🔥❤️🔥 stunning build. Also I’m glad you tasted the box. Cant be too thorough
Hot damn. Kind of reminds me of a Rosie a tad bit.
I thought it was a Rosie when I saw the thumbnail
$800, no fuckin way, i gotta go look…that thing is priceless 🤩
That knife is definitely one of my grails and is on my must get list. Stunning and still performance oriented. It’s a piece of art you can use and it will hold up to almost anything you can throw at it. Truly a masterpiece!
Holy Shit I want one now!
Damn! That is just BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks Kole
i dig the new table top background btw...
Probably the best you could get from asking a Mr. Johnson to give you a surprise finish.
Is it just me or why is this video only offered in 360p? I want to see the GLORY of the Cedar in all the detail available!!! Thank you for the review Tristate_EDC... one day... one day I might be able to get one of these in my clammy little paws!
It's just you. Everything on my channel is uploaded at 1080p60
Thats a really nice one!
Perfection!
Would like to hear your thoughts on the Cedar after you've used it for a while. I got a saltwater build, and I still haven't really managed to carry it. Maybe never will. Got it for work - as an emergency knife for cutting cables in case of entanglement around salt water. First thing was the action was terrible. Surface of the blade where the detent ball rode was grody, so I polished it. Better, but not good. Sent back for warranty replacement of lockbar insert. Came back with a new pocket clip that was so pointy it drew blood. And extremely sharp edges on the lockbar and insert, ended up cutting my thumb. No chamfering, no relief at all on those sharp parts. Off to WoK to get those two things fixed. After it came back, tried carrying. Diamond milling plus that clip = torn pocket edges. And the lockbar cutout is deep and long and wants to catch on the edge of the pocket going in and coming out - not a good thing for an emergency tool. I just don't find it suitable for real carry. Really want to hear your experiences now that 6 months have gone by.
Just picked one up at Blade Show.
So insanely good right?!
@@TristateEDC Not only was the knife awesome (one of the best I picked up at the show) but Nicolas could not have been a nicer guy.
is the honey comb scale option not available anymore? Doesn't show that option when going through options list on the website.
haha my man just licking knife boxes. 😂😂😂. its okay, i lick my knives….
That's like a mythical tier drop of a knife
Gonna buy one..
OMG! I want that Cedar so bad now!!
WTF! I'm seeing my first Grail❤!
Gorgeous knife! N not bad value for the price.. feel like this could go toe to toe with a Chris Reeves
Flip the top of the box check out the other side it's the coa
Most Latvian name ever.
Why does all the cool shit come out alongside my bills!😭
What's the prices?
Titanium milled by a Latvian god. I WAS trying to edge, but
Would be nicer if the lock bar cut out was on the inside of if the clip went over it
If you're going to open a Rob Johnson, be sure to use your jonhson
always!
How much do those run base ?
Starts from 630-650 with Rwl34 steel
Try waking up at 430 and going to sleep at 8 everyday my man. 😂
I'd actually pass away 🤣
Buuuuut can you do the pencil grip with it? 😂
Hand it over bub
Cough it up chief.
@TristateEDC I'll raise him 50%
Rob Johnson is probably MORE prestigious than oz machine factory or brown or hermin.... Robs knives are machined to a eye watering ear bleeding tolerance point. Their absolutely out of this world but EXTREMELY hard to get. The fact they cost less than a ROSIE is a sin... a Rosie is a pile of dog shit compared to a Cedar. The ONLY knife I would put in this ball part is a Holt, Hermin, Blauerock, ETC.
Sorry you told me the price already
Does he have a facebook group?
I have no idea... He's for sure on Instagram though.
The cost???
Like $700-900ish?
Starts from 630-650 with Rwl34 steel (we heat treat rwl 63-64hrc)
The man gives you two custom knives, at least go and read the about us section of his website… 😅😄
I can't read.
Dammit people stop reviewing this knife I wanna get one but y’all not gonna let me get one
