Hey! Nicolas here. Thanks for the Video. Great review as always. This Cedar has super light stonewash on the scales and the Vanax blade so the small scratches wouldn't bother you too much. The Vanax is heat treated in house to 61hrc (basically that's the max hardness you can get out of it with full liquid nitrogen cryo treatment) And the Rwl34 is 63-64hrc. You can change the detent by adjusting the lockbar pressure a little bit but on your own responsibility. Thanks again!
Unfortunately his name isn't Rob Johnson😂 According to his website "My name is Nicolas and I'm the founder of small knife making company - Robjohnsons. The company is named after my great grandfather Robert and his father John who were both talented blacksmiths." Which is where he gets the *Rob* *John* and *"sons"* part of the name since his great-grandfather started the knifemaking occupation in his family and then taught his sons how to make them. But it's the effort that matters Kole! hahaha Thanks for the new video💪
I have this knife in slightly different finish and acid washed blade. It’s very well made, but I am not a huge fan of stepped blade, as it creates additional friction when slicing. Other than that - it is great, and looks stunning. Thanks for your review.
I've got Cypress #59 (v1) and Cedar #33 here, both beautiful knives :) They aren't perfect, especially the Cypress has a few points that needed improvement, but overall they are great knives and imo definitely worth the money. I prefer the Cedar since I always prefer large knives, the Cypress is a bit small for my tastes. But I do love me a front flipper and the Cypress is a beautifully executed one. My main gripe with the Cedar is the flipper, it really doesn't function to well on mine. The detent is reasonably strong, on the stronger side but nothing extreme, yet it is already too much to comfortable use the flipper. My finger slips off half of the time and if it does it hurts quite a bit. Luckily the opening hole is absolutely perfect for the reverse flick, so I can just leave the flipper be.
That knife is definitely one of my grails and is on my must get list. Stunning and still performance oriented. It’s a piece of art you can use and it will hold up to almost anything you can throw at it. Truly a masterpiece!
Is it just me or why is this video only offered in 360p? I want to see the GLORY of the Cedar in all the detail available!!! Thank you for the review Tristate_EDC... one day... one day I might be able to get one of these in my clammy little paws!
Rob Johnson is probably MORE prestigious than oz machine factory or brown or hermin.... Robs knives are machined to a eye watering ear bleeding tolerance point. Their absolutely out of this world but EXTREMELY hard to get. The fact they cost less than a ROSIE is a sin... a Rosie is a pile of dog shit compared to a Cedar. The ONLY knife I would put in this ball part is a Holt, Hermin, Blauerock, ETC.

I thought it was a Rosie when I saw the thumbnail

is the honey comb scale option not available anymore? Doesn't show that option when going through options list on the website.
Probably the best you could get from asking a Mr. Johnson to give you a surprise finish.
Just picked one up at Blade Show.
So insanely good right?!
@@TristateEDC Not only was the knife awesome (one of the best I picked up at the show) but Nicolas could not have been a nicer guy.

Would be nicer if the lock bar cut out was on the inside of if the clip went over it
