Thanks for watching! Have you tried zepbound/ mounjaro or tirzepatide? Semaglutide or ozempic? What was your experience?

Girlfriend! We have SO much in common! We both just started channels. We both were fat kids (though not really). I took Fen-Phen in 1995 (I am OLD!). We both had bariatric surgery and regained lost weight (mine was the RNY... I failed the RNY, it didn't fail me... I had it done in 2001). I've lost 100 lbs once and over 200 lbs. twice. I've was on Trulicity for a year starting April 2022, then Mounjaro for a year +, starting at the end of 2023. My insurance is forcing me to change to Ozempic for another 6 months to show it doesn't work before considering re-prescribing Mounjaro.
I do have Type 2 Diabetes and my HbA1c has gone from a 9.0 to 5.1. In the last year and a half, I've gone from 405 lbs. to 147 lbs. I'm 5'1". Mind you, I am a super-responder and so are my 2 kids who are on tirzepatide. My labs were amazingly horrible and are now pristine. I was bedridden for a decade and now easily walk 5+ miles a day... 4 mi. at a time every morning.
Edit: I, too, gained 80 lbs. with my first child (who is 43 day after tomorrow!), then never lost and gained 30 lbs. each with the two girls.
Regarding the comment about not being the fattest person on earth, please do not EVER feel like you need to qualify your pain. As a nurse (I'm a retired midwife), you know there is no measuring cup for suffering. We all have our thresholds and your 265 lbs. was yours.
Regarding skin, I show my dangling arm skin in my third video. Part of it is to "come out" as (trying) to not be filled with shame. I also live in Florida and wear tank tops all the time. I have some serious dripping wax-looking skin all over my body. I doubt I will ever have reconstructive surgery because of $$, so I am working hard to find peace with my body. The other part of showing my arms is to encourage those who feel their own arms look horrible and to comfort them that "at least mine don't look like that!" I do tell people I earned all this redundant skin. Isn't therapy fun for working on body image? Ugh.
How blessed are we that we are living in this time when there IS something that will work. Forever. I never had a goal weight, but when I hit 150, I knew it was time to maintain. Working on that now. If I could wish for something, it would be for me to be 25 years old again at 300+ lbs. and start my life over. But, there is no magic fairy (except Tinker Bell) that will transport me in time, so at 63, I am making my life what I can. I have 3 kids and 5 grandkids to spend time and play with!
I did subscribe. I hope we can talk if you ever have time. So good to meet you!

Thank you so much for that beautifully written comment! Wow… Over 200 pounds lost is amazing! Yes we do seem to have very similar life paths lol. It’s so nice to be able to find kindred spirits here and people who know exactly what each other are going through. I also have the loose skin on my arms. I’ve yet to get to that point where I will wear a tank top, Oh, but maybe one day. I spend a lot of time in the theme parks here in Orlando and it is hot! I imagine a tank top would be nice at Disney. Thanks so much for subscribing and I will check out your channel as well!

@@HollysWeigh Holly! I'm in Orlando, too! Kindred Spirit is correct. In fact, I have not _walked_ in a Disney Park for 30+ years... always on an ECV or renting an ECV from outside the parks. Sunday, my girls and grandkids are converging on EPCOT from around the country as I _walk_ into, and around, World Showcase 3 times! Then we will spend the day and evening there in the park... me on my FEET! It's so surreal. I'm wearing a Mickey shirt that says: (on the front) "Disney's Magic & GLP-1s helped me lose..." (and on the back) "255 lbs. Lost... EPCOT Walk 2024". We are videoing it... big fun! So glad to meet you!

I’m in week 4 with Mounjaro. I’ve been overweight since I was a teen 40 years ago. Was a little afraid to try the new weight loss drugs, but my A1C numbers pushed me to try it. I’m down 15 lbs already and making much better food decisions. Wish I had started Mounjaro much sooner. I have about 85 more pounds to go to reach my goal.

You are very brave to share your story. I’m currently 4 years out of VSG… I’ve kept the 65-70 pounds off… but my doctor is wanting my visceral fat to be lower. Tuesday she recommended Zepbound… I’m excited to do it. I am so encouraged by your story, and identify with you and your story a whole lot. Thank you!

My vsg in 2015 was a total failure. Mounjaro/Zepbound has helped me lose 80 lbs and I'm down 117lbs total. I now weigh 134 with a BMI of 23! It's given me my life back. I'm 5'3" like you!

@ I started in January 2023. It's been an absolute miracle. Of course I did all the nutrition classes, counseling, etc with the sleeve surgery and beyond. Now we know that our body and brains aren't working correctly. Days after the sleeve I was hungry. The surgeon told me that was impossible. Lol. She said I was mistaking some other feeling as hunger. Yeah, okay lady. I gave up on avoiding carbonation and straws. There's absolutely no data for those things being an issue.
Never in my wildest dreams I'd be this size ever again. Nor did I ever think I'd be free from the chains of food. I weigh less now than I did my junior and senior years of high school.
I knew I was different because my husband doesn't ever think about food unless he's hungry. His body works like it's supposed to. Now I know what it's like to just live life not thinking about my next meal or constantly swinging by the pantry to get a snack even when I'm not hungry. I'm so grateful.
Keep going! Don't be afraid to let your goal be a BMI of 24 or less. I didn't think it's was possible. I'm in size 4 pants now which is bananas.
My husband has loved me through thick and thin. He never once said a mean thing to me. I'm a very lucky lady!

I’m not sure why I didn’t see these comments until today, sorry! I had the same experience with my gastric sleeve. I was hungry. But I couldn’t eat a lot. it made it hard to stick with what I was supposed to eat. The only reason I was able to follow the diet was because I was terrified that I would somehow hurt my Stomach because of the surgery. The food noise was constantly there. I also gave up on the straws and the carbonation. I can’t stand ice, hitting my teeth and trying to eat in a restaurant and drink out of a glass with no straw was driving me crazy. I can’t believe you are a size 4, that’s amazing! I can’t wait to hopefully be right around that size. Size 4 to 6 is where I would like to be. How did your skin surgery go? Any regrets? I am probably looking at a tummy tuck and thigh lift. I don’t know about the arm lift. I’m trying to see what I can do with weights first.

I have a Fitbit and walk 12,000 steps daily in zone 2. walking is a gift I give myself each day. Starting now with resistance training to maintain my muscle mass. I'm on tirzepatide 5 mg. lost 20 lbs have 20 more to go. b4 tirzepatide i was gaining and losing the same 5 to 10bs even with walking 12,000 steps and eating 1100 calories. this has changed my life I'm losing only a lb a week but I'm thrilled I'm finally down 20 lbs from 170 to 150. have 20 more lbs to go. although I was healthy and have a great blood profile I couldn't lose weight this did something magical to my hormones and metabolism. yes I wasn't severely obese but at 5 feet 2 I was overweight. I have also had zero negative side effects. I don't know what will be if compound tirzepatide will be discontinued I will worry then.

@@simaruby306 I think even slow weight loss is great! Like you said, you were stuck going up and down those same few pounds so now you’ve actually lost 20, that’s awesome! I feel like we will have some sort of compound or affordable medication around for a while. They are looking at these medication‘s for so many different things like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, etc. so if that is all approved, then imagine what the demand will be. There’s no way that these big drug companies can keep up with that. That’s just my personal opinion. Keep up with the walking! That’s fantastic. Good luck on the remaining 20 pounds and keep us updated with how it’s going.

Congratulations on your success with Zepbound!
I have also had similar experiences and failures on most plans.
The only thing that has helped me is to quit all refined and ultra processed foods. Eating whole vegetables fruits, healthy meats, nuts, and some dairy has made me no longer hungry.
The ultra processed foods are filled with chemicals to make them taste unnaturally good. Then they raise your blood sugar, and you crave more. And because they are mostly empty calories, you are never full.
I can only eat so much of vegetables, fruits, and meat at one meal, and I'm completely full. I don't want any more.
When you finish Zepbound, I highly recommend getting rid of refined and ultra processed stuff from your diet and changing to whole foods.
Doing so changes your health so much for the better. And I have lost and kept off 50 pounds just by doing this. I used berberine for a while but quit because it lowered my blood pressure too much. But I am still losing weight and even faster because I feel better.

Thanks for sharing your story! I have a similar story... had VSG 2.5yrs ago to help combat type II diabetes, severe sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and obesity at 235 being 5'6'. Lost about 35lbs after the VSG within the 1st year. I was definitely a slow loser and not coming from a super heavy starting weight. My medications were reduced but didn't totally get off of any of them. Dr. put me on Mounjaro and removed the metformin to offer better help with the type II diabetes and weight loss. Happy to say, 11 months on Mounjaro and my A1-C is 5.2 (well controlled), I'm now down to 164... roughly 14lbs away from my goal weight. Never made it past the 7.5mg dose. Sleep apnea all but cured and high blood pressure meds decreased, may even be able to get off of them altogether. Now pondering life in maintenance phase as I would like to be full control of my health and weight without any dependence on medications in the near future.

I started off with power walking rather than running and have worked my way into jogging. With the weight loss, it’s a little easier. I am about to switch gyms due to time constraints and am going to focus mainly on weight lifting to build muscle. I also walk a lot at home and try to do body weight exercises like pushups and squats at home. My routine hasn’t really changed a lot from when I was heavier, but I used to make accommodations like squats instead of lunges, walk instead of run, knees on the floor for pushups instead of regular pushups etc.. my goal was just to move my body and get the weight down. Hope that helps!

@stampinByDiane thank you so much! Congratulations on your weight loss so far! I went up to 5mg right at the 5 week mark as well. The 5mg mark was right at the time when I swapped from name brand Zepbound to compound tirzepatide. I don’t know if it was my body adjusting to change or what was happening, but I felt like I was hungry a lot and the food noise was there. I actually thought I had injected with just saline solution or something because I was convinced that the compound wasn’t working. But after a couple weeks on 5 mg I started to feel the appetite suppression a little and the food noise died back down a bit. But I still lost 11 pounds that month and 2% body fat. I bumped up to 7.5 mg after that month to help with the food noise and appetite suppression a little more. I did have the fatigue with this dose as well, initially. Let us know how the increase goes for you!
