Dude, they are massive!! The bread is honestly the best around. I like that processed cheese also. Interesting texture and flavor. Thanks for sharing as always!!!
Australian rations are insane! So much food in those things! Kudos for diving right in to that vegemite and pairing with the cheese was brilliant. Sorry you don’t like lamb, but I admit it’s an acquired taste for a lot of people. Took me many years to enjoy it but once I had it cooked right, I love it! Thanks Jerms for sharing!
This was a monster!! I was most excited for the Vegemite and I wasn't disappointed! Lamb has been hit or miss with me. This one was on the miss side. My next review will have lamb so 🤞 Thanks for all the comments on so many videos! I appreciate your support Alan!!
Hi Jerms. Great video. Your editing is top notch. Maybe that orange drink was off a little bit. Lentils aren't my favorite. Dinner looked the best. I like the US garlic mashed potatoes, hopefully the Australian are as good. That canned cheese is delicious, to me. CT sent me some, and it was wonderful. Might be the brand, that makes it different. Tea with creamer was pretty good when I tried some in a British ration. I'm not a fan of lamb myself. But it's better than nothing. Great review, J !!
The cheese was good once put on the crackers. Definitely not bad. This lamb was just very strong. But yes, I'd eat it and not complain in those circumstances. Thanks for the compliment on the editing. I'm a bit OCD about it 😆 Thanks for watching Tracy. I appreciate you buddy 🤝
Great review Jerms. I love the CR1MS. The bread is the show winner. I put too much vegemite on a bite the 1st time I tried it. But when used sparingly it's great
Wow. I've never seen one of these before. That thing is huge. A ton of calories! Low and slow on vegimite. A ton of stuff! Lamb isn't for me either but looks awesome. 👌
I wish i could get you a CR5M they give armoured crew. they come with this canned chocolate pudding with gooey chocolate sauce and it's so good especially when you heat it up.
Vegemite and cheese sandwiches are an Aussie staple. Glad you could see that pairing works brilliantly because the flavours balance out. Vegemite on toast with butter works very well for the same reason.
I really enjoyed the Vegemite!! I have some in my Amazon cart specifically to try a grilled Vegemite/ cheese sandwich! Thanks for watching! I appreciate it! 👍👍
@@jermsMRE Weirdly, I checked my jar of vegemite and wheat and barley (basically beer malt) are the two top ingredients. There's not a lot of salt in it; just tastes salty. Then it lists all the vitamins.
I was looking around the inter webs for a tube of Vegemite after watching this. I have a squeeze bottle of it already for home use. Couldn't find a tube, but bought a 30 pack of it in what looks like the butter packets from the diner for travel use.
Yeast extract is a common component to "beef" stock powder or cubes. Castor sugar is a much finer version of standard white sugar. Typically much better for mixing into liquid, particularly when cold. That drink looks spoiled though. If you're not a fan of tuna, you can also add the hot sauce. "Musk" flavour is actually rose water flavour. I used to use them if we were stuck somewhere that had unpleasant water, like a sulfurous bore water [not uncommon in inland Australia where artesian water is the main water source] or something. Suck one while drinking and it knocks the taste of the water off a bit.
Thanks for all the info! I really enjoyed the Vegemite!! Using the musk life savers for the sulfur tasting water makes a lot of sense! I appreciate the comment and appreciate you watching 👍👍👍
As an aussie thank you for doing our vegemite justice 😂 One of things you either love or hate, and hobestly it goes incredibly well in stews and hearty soups. Also really appreciate the speediness of the process, not trying to conduct a speech on every item that feels like pulling teeth 💪💪Youve gained a follower 😁
Thank you! I was most excited for the Vegemite in this ration! I made sure to do some research on the proper way to use it! I like to try and keep my videos moving. Glad you appreciate that! Thanks for watching, thanks for the comment and thanks for subscribing!! 👍👍
The IMP hamburger buns are awesome! Makes way more sense than the US bread. I have to say though, the Aussie bread, to me, is the best I've had. IMP buns a close 2nd. Thanks for watching! 👍👍

Hey man.... great review! It always makes me giggle when I see that Alpine beer glass... where I come from in my part of Canada there is a popular beer called Alpine.... one of my faves..... I never expect to see it on a glass. Alpine is actually brewed by Moosehead Breweries in Saint John NB Canada where I grew up...... not sure if it still is, but Moosehead beer was once very popular in the US...... do they still have it where you are?
I feel like I used to see Moosehead a lot but don't think I've seen it in awhile. The glass is from a tavern called The Alpine Tavern here in Michigan. Thanks for watching!! I appreciate you always being here!
Wow that was a huge ration….. I don’t think I would have liked most of it, but some of it looked really good. (I just put a jar of Vegamite in my amazin cart to try 😂) I have been sooooo curious about Vegemite for a long time as I have friends in Australia and they have it with breakfast everyday LOL
I have only lucked into one of these. Massive indeed, and excellent friend. Go easy on the vegemite, LOL. Too late. Leftover, add to soups or food for salt substitute. Works amazing. SCM is excellent. Needs in all rations. I Can't comment on all items or meals, but all the normal suspects, and excellent. We all have camera issues, have had, and still do, LOL. Their Musk, is different from ours. Yes, we know the flavor, by another name. Like most 24 Hr. rations, leftover snacks. You had an amazing experience, even if all tastes did not suit you. You got the FRED eating device. Sweet. Cheese, excellent. I am glad you enjoyed most components, if not all of them. You had some fun, and tried different food. Well done friend, Peace. John.
Caster ( Castor ) sugar is also known as berry sugar, which is in and of itself is also a confusing term as it's not made from berries...It is just a very fine sugar which dissolves easier in liquids. It's used almost exclusively in baking and it isn't a very common ingredient in recipes these days. It should NOT be confused with confectioners or icing sugar which is a powdered sugar with corn starch added to it. This ends your useless knowledge lesson for today... Great review man! Keep 'em coming. 😁
I have had the pleasure of trying Vegemite not too long ago. It has a flavor that is near impossible to describe if you don't know what it tastes like already. The closest thing I can compare it too is actually beer. Specifically dark porter or stout. That strange savory flavor in those kinds of beers is dead yeast. There are a lot of yeast cell components that are left in those kinds of dark beers, including proteins. That's why they taste like they do. I've gotten that same taste from brewing my own beer too. I probably added way too much yeast and sugar to the keg. It was delicious though! I have found vegemite to be very pleasant and I like it a lot. Vegemite is one of those things you either love it or hate it. I like to put it on crackers, but it goes good on a lot of different things. Many people often put WAY too much on their first time trying it and the flavor is extremely salty and overpowering. That is why I think many people say they hate it. You need very little of it to get a strong taste. Also, I think a tube of sweetened condensed milk should be included in every MRE on the planet. It adds so much to so many things and is extremely versatile. I love to add it to coffee or tea, and adding it to oatmeal or museli seriously enhances the flavor. It can really be put on anything to enhance the flavor. I love how many MRE reviewers describe many foods as "edible". Well I sure hope so! I know some meals are way better than others. Besides some components that literally go bad, I have never had an MRE meal that I didn't like. And some things I ate I probably shouldn't have.
I agree with your Vegemite assessment. I found it to be very good since I started out going easy on it. Also agree about the sweetened condensed milk. So good!! Thanks for watching CB!!
