- The Florida Keys are a captivating chain of coral cay islands that stretch over 120 miles off the southern tip of Florida, forming the southernmost portion of the continental United States. This archipelago begins just south of Miami and extends in a graceful arc towards the southwest, culminating at the remote Dry Tortugas. The Keys are renowned for their unique geography, characterized by their location along the Florida Straits, which separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Gulf of Mexico. The southern part of Key West is just 90 miles from Cuba.
The Seven Mile Bridge is a marvel of modern engineering, stretching approximately seven miles across the turquoise waters of the Florida Keys. It connects Knight's Key in the Middle Keys to Little Duck Key in the Lower Keys. This bridge is not only a vital transportation link but also a tourist attraction, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding ocean and islands. The original bridge, part of Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad, was transformed into a highway after a devastating hurricane in 1935. Today, visitors can explore the old bridge, which serves as a pedestrian walkway and a testament to the region's rich history. The new bridge, completed in the early 1980s, stands as a testament to the advancements in construction and design, accommodating thousands of vehicles daily and supporting the unique ecosystem of the Keys.

You know what? I can't stop thinking that you do your best to remind me of the wonderful days I spent in the USA. :) I was driving on these very roads and enjoying the scenery just last March! It was a lot of fun. I strongly hope to be there in the shortest time possible!
Ive done this drive to Key West twice. It never gets old. it's such a beautiful drive. Love the Florida Keys.
I have done this drive 4 times. I loved it every time. I want to do it again maybe this summer. Hang out in key west after for a few days. I loved seeing this part of America. We all need to do more drives like this. See the sites and meet the people that live and work along our well-traveled roads.

Hope you plan on having atleast 8 grand a month. It's not the cost of housing but the flood Insurance and the electric bills make it very difficult to live there.
Florida Keys are SUPER expensive. And have high flood risk. Great to visit though 👍🏽

i lived here also; i also left a similar comment for your drive from Malibu to Santa Barbara along PCH/101. you have to be careful in Big Pine Key and not hit any of the key deer - you'll go to jail for that; you drove by where i used to work on Boca Chica ...

You're right ❗ They're trapped. The price you pay... lived in Southeast Florida 1981-2002. Went through the "Storm of the Century" and that was enough. A big reason I left eventually. I bet it's crazy crowded today. By the way I'm a very positive person. It comes down to logic.☺️🌺
