Yep! Thanks for all the informative videos. I fitted the 40mm tough dog suspension when I got my jimny, mainly because of your comparison video, and I am still super happy with my decision!
@@siegfriedschulte9085 I am always just concerned about the extra weight of the bull bars , and I have not had any obstacle that the oem bumper caught or scratched , so why go heavier.

I just purchased my 2023 Jimny and I love it. I am here in Colombia, South America and it is perfect for here. I want to order this Tough Dog suspension and will do what I have to to get it here however, will this void my warranty if I have it installed. The dealer seems to think so but I don't understand why???? Are they correct? Any information will be greatly appreciated. I have studied all your videos and really appreciate the great content! Thank You so much for these!!! They have been EXTREMELY HELPFUL!!!!
Thanks for the support. You are replacing the oem suspension with an aftermarket one thus TD will give you a 80k km warranty , and that should no affect any other warranties from Suzuki , since this does not effect other components .
Hi Raymond, I have a 2022 Jimny auto, and have installed the following: Front runner roof rack, Des Sol diff and transfer case protectors and breathers, Snorkel, radial cups, Des Sol rock sliders. I have recently installed the new Des Sol 50mm suspension upgrade which comes with their new shocks. 8 year guarantee. I'm astounded with the ride improvement! Is there any way you could do an updated suspension comparison?
@@justjimny Hi Raymond, I have exactly the same question! Based on your great in-depth reviews of the 40 mm Toughdog I was sure that is what I would fit to my new Jimny, but of course they pre-date the Des-Sol Ev1s. I would be very greatful to hear your thoughts on these as well as what you think about the fact that they use progressive springs. Do you think that this is a good thing where the springs are softer on initial bump and then get stiffer? Some people argue that for off-road you actually want digressive movement. i.e. it gets more compliant towards full bump, but I don't think anyone offers this in a lift kit, just single spring rates instead. The people that argue against progressive springs say that because the suspension moves more with a bump, being softer for the initial hit, you're quickly into the stiffer spring rate anyway and therefore the suspension can actually feel stiffer than with the same movement with a single spring rate. Thoughts?
Would 235 BF At's work with the 40mm Tough Dog suspension, or would 225's be a better choice? Or should I replace my 40 mm with the 60 mm? I just got the 40 mm installed and have the 215's for tires but I would like a little better off road performance so I am considering a little larger tire size. I do not however want to start over with a new suspension if not necessary since it may be quite costly but I appreciate your recommendations... Thanks for your great Videos Raymond!
Hi Joel , they have really nice colors availible , just keep in mind that the 2 tone color schemes might have a longer waiting period than the other ones. My two choices where between the Jungle green , and the blue.
i got my Jimny, brand new about a month ago and it is standard. The car wants to kill me, I cannot take it out on the highway because that is looking for trouble. The suspension changes are ridiculously expensive and I am not able to get to that money. I am not so happy with the purchase, I expected it to be dual purpose, but it turns out to be a serious off roader. I am still deciding what to do with the car, but for now, it will stay in my garage at home.
Mate if you find it too much trouble on the highway stock, I don't think a lift kit is going to help you. No amount of suspension work is going to make it feel like a sedan. A lift kit raises its centre of gravity and makes it marginally more susceptible to cross winds. You can offset this quite a bit with a steering damper and good shocks, but it's never going to make it drive like it was built for the highway. I commute on winding, hilly, 100km/h roads in my gen3 Jimny (without a lift kit or steering damper) and I have to be switched on 100% of the time so I don't go flying off into the bush or get bumped into oncoming traffic by a pothole or gust of wind, but I've always driven cars like this so it doesn't bother me. My understanding is the Gen4 is a lot better, but it's still not like driving a regular car.
@@ccmmrrnn True, I have gone a more standard way, I have replaced the shocks with KYB gas-rider. It made a huge difference and it almost drives like a car. I had to go this way because the lift kit is very expensive and Suzuki approved my modification.
@@36blackdog I'm surprised simply changing the shocks made such a difference to a brand new Jimny, but I'm glad to hear that it has. Were they the Excel-G model?
@@ccmmrrnn Yes, that is correct. There are other KYB options, but they are not available in our country, like the adjustable, which is what I really wanted.
Recently bought a 2010 Jimny as it's still original and haven't seen much gravel. Suspension upgrade is a must at this point as it has a bit of roll and really feel unstable on the road to be honest. My question, is a steering damper also necessary?
Hi Sam , still running the stock steering dampner on my Gen4 , no issues. For the Gen3 which did not come out with one stock I would reccomend the tough Dog return to centre one with that small coil on.
Hi Tertius , Like mentioned in the video , in my opinion the Tough Dog is superior. The Des Sol is good for offroad , but for 4x4 trails, gravel and tar performance the Tough Dog trumps it.
@@justjimny thank you. Was thinking de sol due to the camber correction and everything in one kit. Not going to do major off road but will do trails and sand. Probably 80% tar. Will have a look at tough dog and then see if they can do the correction etc at the same time. Down in western cape.
@@tertiusdykes3529 Tough Dog can also supply you with a full kit , I just did not fit the caster corrections since the stock bushes where fine on the 40mm lift , they do wear out and after 60k km they had to be replaced , also have a look at our suspension test video for more information.
Foam cell shocks reduce the bubbles in the oil so you dont get shock fade , the nitro gas cools the oil in the iron man shocks. I prefer the Tough Dog since I have experienced them on multiple vechiles and they have outperformed other brands constantly.
Nice, I was thinking for 60mm lift. Is that too high? I am not usually an off-roaders and what tyre size did you fit after the 40mm lift? Just occasionally going to beach fishing. Thanks for the review after 60,000km.

Hi Rae , if you can get the Ironman as a full suspencion kit , like the Toug Dog , and not just coils and shocks . These kits should have abs relocation, extended brake lines , light leveling , castor correction ( improves road handeling alot). In South Africa they just sell the shocks and coils , which under perform due to castor corrections ect is not added.
