Back in the day the logo and the cover art were the calling card for what the music would sound like, we couldn’t pull music up online like you can now. It’s how I discovered Iron Maiden. I stared at the Killers album cover in a department store when I was a kid, it was some scary looking shit at the time. I discovered many killer bands just by the logo or cover. Morbid Angel, Death, Obituary, Sadus...the list could go on. I miss those days...I’m stoke Possessed are still around releasing music that puts many of their peers to shame.

Their Mexican guitarists the one who's in Gruesome is quite the death metal historian. It's good to know that such a passionate fan is writing music for Possessed nowadays.
Its funny to me that they call themselves death metal, and I guess to them that is what they are. But when I think of death metal, its bands like Bolt Thrower or Cannibal Corpse. I love Possessed. Very unique sound. New album is great.
The first metal band wasn't metal too, the first thrash band isn't thrash, the first black metal isn't black metal, the first power metal band isn't power metal, the band that pioneered a genre isn't the band that's play within the genre. IMO, Possessed is between thrash and death metal (deathrash)
@@kotanovakota The first metal band and inventor of the sound and all sub-genres Black Sabbath is metal, the first thrash band was Venom, the first black metal band Bathory was indeed black metal. As far as Possessed goes they were never Death Metal and will always be in the Death/Thrash category.

Apparently, you were not around in 1985. I bought Seven Churches on cassette and Possessed was the only death metal band back then. That’s okay though if you weren’t there at the beginning, we all have to start somewhere.
Its an awesome logo. Darkthrone and morbid angel i think have some of the best as well. Deicide is def the worst one. Dissection logo is also shitty but they get a pass for being awesome
