I’ve used them when I was in the Air Force a long, long time ago for spraying cutting oil. We had a custom drilling machine to drill mounting holes in the keel, between the engines, to install F15 style centerline fuel tanks on F4 Phantoms. I was a game changer to make the bits last longer. Good times. Thanks for the update. I forgot all about those.
Retired aircraft mechanic here. I've had mine for about 45 years now. They work great, but you do have to take care of them. Don't drop them or they will leak. Keep the trigger gland tight and the packing well lubed. I've had everything in it too...MEK acetone, methyl chloroform, carbon tet, mineral spirits and kero, no problem.
@aplacecalledfear Man I miss the endless supply of MEK when I was aircraft mechanic (MD-80 family). not the best thing to use when curled up in a non ventilated room as a cargo compartment though 😂
Great timing, I just bought a pair of them, one for chlorinated Brakleen and one for Gibbs penetrating oil. When I was a dealership mechanic, my last dealership gave us each one of these cans and had a pressurized 55 gallon drum of brake cleaner we could fill with straight through the Schrader valve. It was very efficient.
One shop I worked for, provided the brake clean in that form and I loved it, I still ha e both of my cans in my bottom drawer. Though I don't use them at this point because the cleaner isn't provided by the shop in that form so I just use the crap out of the aerosol cans they provide, no money out of my pocket.... I do keep one at home in the garage and purchase my own because it's so much better, one of these days I will convince the shop into changing their ways.
I used them. We took the nozzle tip off and removed the Jet in side so it would be a solid stream and not just spraying. Yah with break clean it was awesome.
When I was in auto dealerships they bought brake cleaner in 55 gallon drums. We all had the Sure shot version of these. Worked great, but a big 10-4 on opening up the nozzle a little.
Nice, I keep all my solvents and applicator applied glues in cool boxes. Keeps the smell inside, stops tubes from oozing glue during the summer and keeps them reasonably usable in the cold of winter. And I keep my nail gun gas containers in my pants under my ball.
Happy thanksgiving and thanks for everything you do for us all year around , you make us laugh and entertain and for that I give thanks is always the little things in life that make us happy. I work in a fork truck attachment manufacturing and I use mine all the time with flux remover on the circuit boards we make. It makes it nice that I can leave it out of the combustibles fire cabinet on my work station where as the plastic spray bottles are a hazard around heat/soldering stations. Plus it can hold 32oz which is the exact size amount the flux remover we use comes in.

I like the FBS pump sprayers. They have an option with a Buna O-ring kit and one with a Nitrile so you can put whatever you want in them. They aren't cheap, but they work really well and they take quite a beating. They are made of a very heavy plastic.
Sureshot sprayers are the original and are made in the USA. Been using mine for awhile now and love it, they also sell different nozzles for different spray patterns you could buy or like others have mentioned there is a removable plug in the nozzle that'll give you a more stream like pattern.
My Dad and I used industrial degreaser in our then-new steel powdercoated parts washer. Couple that with the block heater added on the bottom to make the degreaser more effective, and now the whole tank is a goant rusty mess with the powdercoat peeling off in sheets. That sprayer will definitely have rust issues in no time with water-based degreaser in it, especially if its not emptied and dried out frequently.
I recently bought one. It was $50 for the sprayer and $115 for the brake cleaner 5 gallon drum. I highly recommend you only tighten the fill cap to finger tight.
Hear Hear on the spray bottles being cheap crap that breaks all the time. I've found the best you could ever get are the old Delta 360 ones, but you can't find those anymore. Closest alternative is the Home Depot HD branded "upside down" sprayers. $2 each and they tend to last slightly longer than others. For large-scale sprays, I've found Chapin concrete sprayers to be the best you can get. Yeah, they're big and heavy and you have to carry and pump the can up, but they can put out 2GPM of fluid. And they're metal and USA made, which is nice to find.
Just got one for my home shop because I wanted to switch to the gallon size for brake cleaner. After using it for a year I can say it was a good choice. I did get the HB branded one and it holds pressure over time very well. I do a lot of work on cars and mowers for family and friends. In a year it’s paid for itself by offsetting the cost of the cans of solvent.
I got one of these at Harbor Freight recently to use acetone and do clear coat on my C10. I use a bike pump to keep it aired up. I get it to 140 psi and I find I run out of fluid before I need to pump it again. It was perfect for the acetone. No, I did not use it for the clear coat. I finger tight the lid, and it holds air. I leave it pressurized for weeks at a time.
I do dewatering for winter at a few parks... So i use RV antifreeze in it to flush though the faucets to remove that last bit of water out of the metering valve.. Payed for itself in time and valve replacement in one season
Let me tell you I have put all sorts of stuff in these sprayer. By far the best thing I have done is put hardshell floor wax in mine sprayed my camper. Honestly the easiest wax job ever just wipe off no polish and it's super shiny highly recommended!
I use sure shots. They work great. I have one that has had power purple in one for 5 years with zero issues. I like them since I can wet down brakes and they soak out better for cleaning.
I’ve got one had it for 25 years I used to clamp a heater hose on it filled with WD40 and clamp it on seized hand brake cables and pump it through to unseize them
I see you have the same problem I do with crescent wrenches. No matter which way you turn it's not the way you want it to go on the first try. I also have the same problem with USB cords.
Cool. I recently is discovered that the m12 inflator is perfect for blowing debris out the USB ports on phones, tablets, laptops, etc. Screw that plastic ball inflator on it and blow away. Fixed several no charging conditions this way.
High end motorsports in the Uk at least (WRC and F1 at least) use Wurth pump spray bottles which is basically the same as this but thick AF plastic. Real nice quality stuff, I would recommend them
I used one as a lube tech. They didn’t like supplying disposable cans so we had to buy our own Balkamps and then refill them from a 55 gallon drum of degreaser. Same degreaser got mixed with simple green for cleaning shop floors😅 I don’t want to think about how that damaged my brain lmao.
I have a couple of the smaller cans and they work pretty well but you do have to charge them with air from time to time more often than I like but aerosol cans don’t last like they used to
I only use brake cleaner where it's really needed, for the rest I use milder products. Even if it smells good, brake cleaner contains some nasty chlorinated stuff that you don't want to inhale every day. Or what the hell, I just downloaded the MSDS for CRC Brakleen. There's no chlorinated compound in it anymore. And there's only little left in my old can. What am I gonna inhale now when I want some tetrachloroethylene?
I have the m18 version of that inflator and it's 1000 times better with a cheap flip lever valve screwed onto the end of the inflator hose. I got a 2 pack on amazon for around 10 bucks. Works perfectly for changing the air pressure in my trucks air bags pulling my camper. I'd end up losing 5 to 10 pounds of pressure unscrewing the hose from the schrader valve
Super shot, gotta take the restrictor out and wallow out the tip a bit and it’s great. I’m a mechanic so I kill my lungs with that stuff all day edit, you can also buy rebuild kits after years of use and abuse.
@ a bit of both but yeah, you can really fine tune it by wallowing out a bit at a time. I just use a pick and tap it with a hammer a few times then test, and keep making it bigger til the stream is what I prefer for cleaning. But don’t forget to take the restrictor out of the tip. It’s just a little brass piece inside the outside cone nozzle tip.
I prefer the plastic ones with their own pump myself, VERY pricey for a plastic bottle, but they are surprisingly tough and hold up well to solvents, I don't like storing them with pressure so I like how easy it is to just unscrew them enough to let the pressure out and then give it a few pumps when you pick it up next. I have very bad luck with leaving any kind of sprayer pressurized :(
Would prep all work? I really should get one of these just for that.. prepall works great on snowboards and skis. i have a local olace for the cheap cheap brake cleaner.
I made me a refilling station to refill my cans of carb cleaner with non Ethanol gas works good for cranking and cleaning little pipe two ball valve and compressed air all you need
This ain't new. Back in the '60s we used these in filling stations to clean windshields. They were perhaps 1/4 the size though. Like all young idiots who didn't pay attention in Chem and Physics, we would fill them to the brim and wonder why they didn't work after about a half second of air. Hell, we were $.90 an hour gas squirters, the boss clued us in to half liquid and air and things worked fine. I will say the ones we had were better made, cast bodies and quality valves. They were promo giveaways when the boss bought washer fluid.

When I clicked on this vid, I wanted one of these full of Xylene or acetone for cleaning the gunk off of diesel engines. However, after watching the spray pattern test I am less likely to get one as it shoots a not so accurate spray that will undoubtedly spray solvent onto plastic connectors, which would permanently damage the delicate connectors. I still want one, I just do not know what I would put into it.
I love my sprayer can... it can take a massive beating when working on vehicles and break cleaner is MUCH CHEAPER to buy in bulk in a 5-gal jug and then just fill my presure can when I need to clea parts and surfaces... because, lets face it, brake cleaner is the BEST CLEANER FOR GREASE AND OIL EVER!!
Isn't the seal supposed to be the NPT threads? Eh, it seems to work with the o-ring, so good enough for the girls I go out with -- I want the thing just to use as a computer duster with only air, because I don't trust myself to install a schrader valve in a handheld spray can and I'm too law-abiding to do the things to reuse Freon cans for compressed air. Which I don't. Because I'm a good boy. 😇
ive got og sure-shots myself but i recommend using gasoline instead of brake cleaner, way cheaper. and if you look at brake cleaner msds is almost completely acetone, and that ish is expensive now.

RE: rust. What about removing the hardware and then coat the inside with something protective?
I’d be worried about it chipping off and clogging it.
A decent lever action spray bottle produces twice the pressure of the Vaper Sprayer
What degreaser do you use?
Brake cleaner cans are better you can in tigher spots, and hold the cans at weird angles. Don't get me wrong, I have both, and use both.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone
ive got og sure-shots myself but i recommend using gasoline instead of brake cleaner, way cheaper. and if you look at brake cleaner msds is almost completely acetone, and that ish is expensive now.
I got a two pack of the Vapor sprayers, one is great and one is terrible
Would have been a lot easier to use the magic plyers to take that fill port off.
