Yup, there’s 2 of them in the fleet, the flight in the video was supposed to be on one of the ex SQ jets, but it got swapped to an ex Philippine A330 on the day itself
If the IFE had been activated, it's almost a full-cost airline experience. What you got on this flight was more than what you had paid for it! Wonderful!
My goodness. I still remember the 3-3-3 economy layout of AirAsia X when I took a redeye flight from KL to Seoul in 2019. And I was in the middle seat in the middle row. Absolutely did not like it one bit, couldn't sleep, had a headache and swore off flying them since. But now that you've made this video...I might be tempted to give them a go again.
It's pretty sad to see PAL selling their premium-configured A330s as they face the same fate as some the A350s that were sold to Lufthansa during the pandemic. But, it's always feels nice when you're flying low-cost knowing that it would be in that kind of cabin.
Dude...Just an awesome video....I am traveling this same flight next week and I was wondering why the seat map was in 2-4-2 rather than the 3-3-3 configuration of the Airasia X flights when I was trying to select seats for my flight. Now I know and this looks very comfortable. Hope you have great time in perth
By the way AirAsia X has Filipino Crews they are the ones that are supposed to be trained for AirAsia Philippines if you ask a Singaporean works in the Air Asia Academy the way you tell apart a Filipino local languages and Tagalog however if they are from Tawi Tawi they'll be speaking Tagalog English and Sabah Malay language. 4:12 This belongs to the Philippine Airlines RP-C8760-8789 fleet. Foremost singaporeans they would really be avoiding it Philippine Airlines with Singapore Airlines version Singapore Airlines version will always win out.
@ShortTransitSG no problem at all by the way in my family only my Mum is a Philippine Airlines fan because she sees them better everyone else even in reality they are really behind the Japanese Duopoly JAL&ANA South Korean Duopoly Korean Air and Asiana Airlines Taiwanese EVA Air Hong konger Cathay Pacific and lastly your flag carrier Singapore Airlines. If you want to do an Ultra Long Haul trip comparison use Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport to both EWR/JFK this is either SQ919/921 to SQ22 or SQ915 to SQ24 vs PR126.
Nowadays air asia X has many surprises. Last time i flew to Almaty and they were using ex Singapore airlines planes with the same cabin❤
Wow

@@ShortTransitSG i think the PAL also not bad

The standard A330s definitely aren’t fun to ride, could barely fit my shoulder. Quite a surprise that they didn’t reconfigure those 4 jets
Great review mate I’ve just subscribed
Thanks!
Kinda feel sorry for PAL after watching this vid.

It’s great that Philippine Airlines is in expansion mode once again

Thanks for the nice comment! Enjoy your flight on these planes, you’ll like it
I already flown this plane 3 times in this year for domestic routes, BKI-KUL return flight.
That’s great

Thanks for sharing. We’ll take anything that’s better than Airasia’s standard tight A330 economy cabin that’s for sure!
