    Gladly I found this because everything was clear in the manual except for throttle limiters. Those very "sharp and bright" pictures in the manual doesn't help that much. It's done, piece of cake.

    Great video. Most shops fail to mention the throttle travel wedges when the sell you a radio.
    I'm sure that many people will find this helpful.

    I just changed my DX9 Black. One or two points, the side grips do not hold the sides together like the DX8. Only remove the rear grips. Be very careful with the centering spring the unused one is very slack and can easily be knocked off removing the gimbal cage. I got a first setup screen after I did mine which is not mentioned in the manual. You have to go through all the switches on off and centre before you can move on. Apart from this it worked fine and is now working in the new mode.

    Hi *****, that is understandable given your previous experiences with flying. Unfortunately a DX5e Mode 2 transmitter cannot be converted to Mode 3. However, you could purchase a Mode 1 DX5e and change the rudder and aileron in the receiver ports of your model. As an alternative, the Spektrum DX6, DX7, DX9 and DX18 transmitters have Mode 3 available in their Mode Select screens. Hope this helps you, Michael.

      info - I now have a DX6 and can select Mode 3 on the screen but it seems to require mechanical modifications inside. Is that right? Cheers

    • @modelflight
      @modelflight  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi *****, that is strange. There should not be any mechanical modifications required. If you have a Mode 1 DX6, all you should need to do is go through the system settings and change it from Mode 1 to Mode 3. If you have any troubles, please let us know. Thanks Michael.

    • @michaelsmitten302

      Thanks, Michael, but the control sticks are set up for spring loaded right stick (both pitch and roll) but the left stick is only spring loaded in yaw. The throttle (left stick) is free to leave in any position, so I guess to get to Mode 3 I need to go inside and modify the centralising springs, so the right stick for and aft movement is not spring loaded and the left stick is. I can see I can change the mode electronically, but it is the physical side that is confusing. I have a much cheaper MJX controller that changes through all four modes just by operating levers on the front panel. Whilst we are talking about Modes, the concept, to me is one of which stick controls which function, but what, therefore in the Spektrum is Flight Modes. I have programmed a switch (B) for three modes, but am not now sure what that means. Some videos show them to be beginner, intermediate and expert, but I can't seem to access how that is designated or modified. Thanks for your help. Mike

      *****, I just spoke with our technical team about your question. Given your description of the transmitter, it sounds like you have a Mode 2 DX6. If this is the case then yes, it will require a mechanical change. If it was a Mode 1 transmitter, it would not require the mechanical change. Hope that clarifies everything. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Matt, really appreciate this video however as others have said it's not complete, it seems to cut out just as we're getting to the end. Could you possibly do it again so that all the information is there, I'm sure a lot of people including myself would really appreciate it!! You also mentioned that the dx5,8 & 18 can also do this, then it mentioned below that the 9 is also possible. Another try at this video would be great just to clarify and complete this;-) please, please, please:-)

    Hi Rick, thansk for your feedback. Glad you like Matt's videos. Unfortunately the conversion Matt outlined can only be used with DX7, DX8 and DX18 transmitters; the DX6i is not a mode-interchangeable transmitter. Sorry about that. Please let us know if you have any other questions, though.

    Hi Ladhem, we have had a few Kemora owners report troubles with their batteries. Generally speaking, we find that the battery needs to go through a few cycles before it works at its optimum level. You may want to charge the battery again and see how it goes after a few runs. Please let us know if you have any further troubles, though.

    Hi Ray. I just spoke to Matt and he said that the same procedure can be applied to the DX9.

  • @michaelsmitten302

    As someone who has flown solo in a light aircraft and enjoys using flight simulators, almost all non military and non helicopter modes in real aircraft are Mode 3 (obviously the rudder must be transferred to hand control), but apart from that the pilot in charge will sit in the left seat and use his left hand for pitch and roll, and right hand for throttle. I recently bought a Mode 2 Controller (DX5e) and though relatively competent in flying models, found I was sometimes (inexplicably at the time) throttling back when trying to pitch up. Then it dawned on me that my flying training, prior to having RC models, had programmed me to Mode 3. Am I now stuck in Modes 1 & 2, or can I convert my controller to the more realistic Mode 3?

    Hi Matt,
    Nice video. Can it be done with the new Spektrum DX9? I purchased the mode 1 instead of mode 2, as it was not available at the time.

      Hi Liam Beasley, we will see what we can do about the video, but in the interim, this blog post may be able to assist you:

    • @modelflight
      @modelflight  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dan Vo, our understanding is that the US consumers wanted Spektrum to include the throttle limiters on the DX8. To be honest, they have no real use. However, because the electronics are calibrated with the limiters, they need to remain on the throttle channel. Hope that all makes sense.

    • @calummm37
      @calummm37 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Modelflight I actually had an issue keeping the limiters on my dx9 after changing it from mode 1 to 2. It refused to calibrate the extremes of the new throttle until I removed the limiters completely. Guess I won't miss them.

    Hi Modelflight,
    I have question PLZ, Today I received my new kemora Vaterra 1/14 RTR, I have charged battery and bind'ed it successfully. However after first test of the car in the yard I have switched the car off for lunch brake and once I switched it on again, I could only move the wheels left and right and the motor was not working. The upper led (The Dynmite speed control led) was off and the bottom led was on (The receiver led).
    Could you please advice what would be the issue plz?
    Thanks

    Guys, I think you missed an important step. At 7:45 in, you loosen-off a screw to disable the centering function, but that only does half the job! You ALSO need to tighten-down the widehead screw a little below it, then you need to do the reverse with the equivalent two screws on the opposite side in order to engage the centering function on that side.
    The Spektrum manual is not very good at explaining how to do the conversion and so an accurate video on TH-cam would really help. Sorry, but you only score 5/10 for this one as you missed something essential to the task.

    • @bretts9409
      @bretts9409 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just did mine. yeah. that wide head screw disables the centre function. loosen one side, tighten the other side down, loosen off the ratchet strap, tighten down the other to the ratchet feeling u want, more or less feeling, then there are 2 gimble adjustment spring screws each side. one does left right. one does up and down. easy to verify which is which when u move the sticks. u can see the tension slider moving when adjusting the screws. now adjust to how much tension u want on ur sticks and ur done. then change to mode 2 in settings.

  • @SHO00D

    man you go great till the bit where you talk about removing the screw fully from the old elevator side BUT there is no mention as to hwo to get the spring tension on the new elevator side!
    I am now stuck with a control with the ratchet throttle and an elevator that floats int he breeze

    • @modelflight
      @modelflight  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shane, there is a screw on the gimbal side in question that will release the leaver that returns the gimbal axis to centre. If you still stuck, you can call Matt at ModelFlight (08) 8186 4250. Cheers, Yoann

    The throttle stick is free moving to begin with while the directional stick is spring loaded to center. After the mod the throttle stick is now clearly spring loaded and the directional stick free moving.
    This makes it impossible to throttle down unless you hold your hand on it and it will keep rolling/tilting and not hover anymore because the other stick doesn't spring back.
    Bit of a half assed/poor mans mod if you ask me if you don't change over the spring loading. That should've been made clear at the beginning of the video.
