- To commemorate the 5th anniversary of Dave retiring from late night television (his last show was on May 20, 2015), I've put together a series of "first and last" appearances, the latter paying tributes in their own ways to the last giant of late night (h/t Jason Zinoman).

Jack’s tears at then end, he knew how much this platform has meant to the animals that he cares so deeply about. He is just a special human being. May the lord look over you and your family Jack. You were one of my favorite guests on Letterman. Thank you all for such great memories.

Jack got pretty emotional and understandably so . Jack was one of the greatest guests on the show and Dave loved the guy . Sure miss Late Night with David Letterman ..I saw the first show the night it aired and rarely missed a show ..great days indeed .
