Great comparisons as I like natural fibers yarns ❣️ what’s the difference between viscose and rayon since it’s both bamboo and? Also what is tencil? I also wonder why bamboo isn’t spun into a chainette so it’s not splitty. Thanks ☺️
I’m working with Truboo on a knitting project right now. It’s everything you say it is. Shinny, slippery, splitting and more difficult to keep tension with. I’m going to finish the project but I won’t use it again. The drape on this yarn is pretty amazing though 😏
It’s extremely soft and drapey especially after washing/blocking but yeah so hard to work with - I just started learning to knit and I can’t imagine using truboo to knit with! I did find one new bamboo blend I like since making this video- King Cole cotton bambooo- I believe it’s a DK weight and I’ve been using it to knit and it’s actually pretty great for that! Higher twist so still has some elasticity and not splitty and nearly as soft/drapey as truboo after washing/blocking, but not shiny unfortunately (if you like that quality). I wish it came in better colors though. I’m knitting a scarf in the cream color right now. What are you making with the truboo? And what color(s) are you using?
I'm super curious about the StyleCraft Naturals -- I'm interested in using it for a ribbed knit dress and I'm wondering if you know how easily it pills after a wash? I'm also wondering if you know where it's made and what color you used?
I’m making a baby blanket with it right now and wondering about pilling too- it doesn’t seem like it would but there is a very slight fuzziness to it so would be worth creating a sample swatch to wash a few times and see- if I test it I’ll let you know the results. The color used here is “canyon”, a nice vintage coral type color. I’m pairing it with “natural”, “apricot” and white in my blanket, pretty good combo.
I've made pretty poppies to glue onto hair clips for children. Bibs for very little babies cuz super sensitive under the chin during bottle feedings and drooling. Summer pieces and lighter head coverings. I'm making blankets and newborn sets with cotton bamboo blends. Very good for anyone with skin sensitivity like post chemo or psoriasis if it's pure bamboo.
Would the 60/40 bamboo cotton yarns be good for a baby blanket? I was trying to go for a natural, hypoallergenic sustainable yarn but hate with a living passion the low twist yarn.
I think it would, I’m actually making one with the stylecraft naturals & Hobbi cotton bamboo yarn. It’s very soft and the higher twist means no splitting issues, but it is on the thinner side so I wouldn’t make a full size blanket with it (would take forever to make) but I think it’s good for a baby blanket.
I have the Tru Boo yarn in a few colors. I find that it's very slippery and difficult to keep my tension consistent. Do you have any observations or thoughts about what could be done to make it less difficult? Thanks!
Honestly just practice and also blocking afterwards. You might be able to try different hook materials too- I only use clover amour hooks which have a slightly textured metal finish, but I’m thinking maybe a wood or plastic hook would provide more grip and help with the slippery nature of the yarn?

YArn Bee Spinessse is also great. Makes some very fine pieces but not too expensive on the sale weeks.

Depends which one but usually it’s used for summer garments since it’s cool & breathable like cotton rather than warm like wool or acrylic.

Wood hooks and needles. Simpler stitch patterns that are more forgiving.
