@@holmesglenn On the Bows and Arrows album I recommend song tracks: Little house of Savages, My old Man, 138th street, The North Pole, Thinking of a dream I had. On the Album titled "You and Me" Song track: Post cards from Tiny Islands, In the New Year, I lost you, are my favorite but the whole album is great. I hope that wasn't an overload but they are truley a great band. Let me know what you think.
@@TheSaOk They've said that they didn't practice at all together and that this performance was really the 1st time they played together in 10 years. They didn't even know if their amps/instruments (organ) would work. And that's obvious if you hear and watch the organ player hitting his instrument in order to make (a broken) sound. Kick drum doesn't work as well. Legendary performance.
When I used to live in Vermont around 2006ish I'd go hiking in the mountains alone with my dog. One hike I did had a cabin shelter at the top and it had a journal for hikers to write a note in. That's that lyric i wrote in the journal. It's always resonated with me.
Song only has a breakdown to give the drummer a minute rest in between sets of 180 bpm 16th notes…. It wasn’t an artistic choice, rather, a matter of life or death…
@@wowowowowowowwowowowowowowie i couldve sworn i saw them announce a couple of one off shows that they already did a little bit ago. I dont know anything about a tour.
It’s crazy The Walkmen is like one of my fav bands and this song really is something else. The singer used to have a really bad condition for singing the way he sings. Hopefully they’ll do some tours soon!
Holy s***. This is one of my most-played songs of all time, I've had it so many playlists. When it popped up today I just thought TH-cam's recommendations had gotten insanely good. How are they on??
So weird. This song came up randomly on an old playlist today. Never looked into the band, heard the song years ago, liked it added it and forgot about it. Listening to it this morning I thought "I bet this would sound great live" came to YT to find a vid and boom! A new live performance! Great bit of synchronicity!
Very cool surprise to see these guys reunited and on the show last night. This is their most well-known track and a great one for sure (as is the entire Bows + Arrows album) but they have a ton of killer songs that I like just as much or more including Heaven, Rue The Day, Lost You, Canadian Girl, The North Pole, Woe Is Me, In The New Year, Victory, Thinking of a Dream I Had, Juveniles, Wake Up, If Only It Were True, Heartbreaker...the list goes on. Still, The Rat is a perfect choice to come out of the gates with on a reunion tour. Awesome to have them back.
When the Walkmen and the strokes came out i saw them on a tour together, the walkmen opened. Completely blew the strokes off the stage. I saw the Walkmen several times after that and they were always amazing. Never bothered to see the Strokes again (and I like them).
I rewatched 7 Psychopaths a couple of days ago after not having seen it since 2012 and heard Angela Surf City and suddenly i was 24 again. It was fantastic. ❤
I still remember when I saw this video on Much Music USA for the first time in 2004. Still a bucket list band for me. Fucking incredible that they still go this hard after 23 years
One of thr most underrated bands ever. This song is so good and in my top tracks of all time.
never gone further than this song, what you recommend ?

They not really interesting at all tbh might skip em and just see interpol
Barrick on drums tho. Age hasn’t diminished those silky skills 🔥
I know every musician on YT is underrated (according to the comment section) but this guy really is underrated.
The drums on this track are just angry go so well with the lyrics
He played it even faster 😃
God I’ve missed these lads 💪🏻
One of my favorite bands of all time! So cool to see them perform again! Hope it's a beginning to a new Walkmen era!
This is one of the best songs ever with one of the worst mixes I've ever heard
Check their statement.

ive seen these guys a couple of times - this seems to be on par with what I remember

I would like to invoice the band for many a blown speakers dating back to mid 00's directly attributed to my deep love for this tune.
The line about "I used to go out..." hits a lot harder in the gut here 10 years later, not going to lie.
Doesn't it just 😮
tru dat sis

I am happy they are back! Actually, this song is among my favorite songs of all time!
Me too ❤
still gives me chills
Words cannot describe how pumped I am for this...
Oh hell yeah! I remember first hearing this in a bar playing on the jukebox in Portland, OR.
Llore viendo esa presentación y ver qué al fin The Walkmen a vuelto... 😊😊
Gracias por volver chicos ❤🔥
another Walkmen album would be soo so sweet
Can't wait to see them when they come through LA. Love these guys.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Our six years old is completely on fire cause of the drummer :) no day without trying on the drums…
Classic tune and great band. Happy to see them back with such energy.
Fantastic
One of the best songs in the last 25 years ❤
What a song... what a song. Great to see them back.
raw mix, raw performance.....rock and roll at it's finest. Pure emotion, Hamilton looks PISSED
Legendary band! Leithauser is one of the great rock vocalists. Dunno why the organ's so loud?
it's the only way it can be. 🤘
Go back and listen to the original, you'll see why
That’s Walter Martin on a Farfisa. They cut through anything!
the mixing is horrible
his voice was low or he can't hit those notes anymore
Oh wow! Thank you so much for having them on! Still such a powerful song!
Wow. Still a banger!
That was INCREDIBLE!!
What a song, what a band.

Jesus I haven’t heard this song in years and see them play oh man brought back memories. Great song !!!
This is LITERALLY their first time playing together in 10 years (except for the sound check). They didn’t even rehearse! Sounds incredible considering
It sure sounds like it
@@ebshitbird2217 Yeah maybe a couple of more rehearsals would have helped. Lol
No its not, i know they did at least one other show in Philly and I'm pretty sure they also did one or two in NY.

Used to listen to these and the strokes in my mr2 turbo all the time
welcome back guys!! Indie rock of the early 2000 what a decade, this album was amazing, memories over memories!!
So glad to see them back!

I just left a comment about The Walkmen The Rat about how good of a drummer he is with such a tiny drum kit.
Saw them years ago at the Glastonbury Festival and they were glorious.
love these drums
Quite an awesome and brilliant performance!!!

One of my favorite bands of all time. Cannot wait to go see them in DC next month.
Was excited to see this pop up but good god, as others have stated...that mixing.
The most fucked-up live tv performance since Sonic Youth brought out their baseball bats. Legends.
when was that and can you by any chance send the footage on replies

AMAZING song!
Such a great band and one of the best singers ever!!!
Just seen these guys at all points east London never heard of them until then & the passion from the band was immense especially the vocalist

like about 10years ago.
breath taking🏆❤️
I’m pretty sure they just straight up left out the kick drum mic
How’d I miss this?!?! That drummer😍

Chicago soon. Can’t wait !

One of the many great indie bands I discovered because of The O.C. lol
Such a great song
Wow - I forgot how good these guys were and how much the remind me of The Strokes. Excited to hear that they've reunited!
If you can see them live do it! Saw them in Boston/Alston 2023 and they rocked. One of the Best live show I've seen. The energy was off the charts

Fantastic ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!!! :)

Wow amazing
After many years, I now realise that this is the best song the Strokes never wrote and could never perform.
That's cold and raw and brutally honest. Ive never really listened to the Strokes, they had some airplay.
Interpol could.
These guys are awesome!
This band slays. Always have and this has me shook.
They are back!
So great live. Saw them with Dan Mangan at the Belly Up Tavern over a decade ago.
I didn't know Nick Swardson was in a band
-Una banda legendaria que sin duda alguna merecia si regreso a los escenarios, van a estar en el Corona capitai en México 🇲🇽 y hare todo por verlos !!
F%%%ing Legends!!!!! Glad They are back !
Beyond grateful they have returned. They have a clean, fantastic set of records, but I always thought they had a few more in them
Increible 👏👏👏👏
This shit makes me smile so fucking hard it’s impossible to put into words.
I have tickets to see them Monday !! I’m so Excited
Matt still destroying those fills. Ham still destroying those vocal folds lol
that drummer is lightning !
When this got recommended to me, I thought at first it was from years ago. Amazing to see them together!
Stoked for Monday in NYC!
I'll be seeing them live in 17 days for first time in about 15 years
they weren't as energetic as this during their last tour before the split. this feels like 2004 again
They're back!!!! 🙆🏻♀️
