- The Smokey Mountain 500 (spelled wrong on purpose) is a 500 mile loop in Tn, Ga, and Nc. On the trail near Tellico Plains Tn we crossed the famous creeks on Witt road. Disaster struck on the final creek.
Follow along as we complete the big loop and test our systems before completing the Transamerican Trail. I will be going coast to coast on dirt roads. Lots of adventure coming. Like, subscribe. Let’s Ride

Love the SM500. It’s beautiful, keeps you on your toes, but plenty easy on a big GSA so the 4 hour commute to get there isn’t too bad every weekend.
Edit: EXCEPT the slick rock water crossing on Witt Road. I always go around that. I’m surprised there isn’t just a huge graveyard of defunk bikes that got water locked.

@@MotoMission. I do portions of it every other week, including the SM1000, and I still haven’t gotten bored.
I hydro locked my WR. Pretty easy to get them back up and running. Fairings off, remove the tank, remove spark plug. Crank it to Pump water out of the cylinder, dry plug. Reassemble and you’re good to go.
That sounds scary. I hope I don’t have to ever do that. Glad it worked. Maybe I should have you riding w me to help me. :)

I always carry a toe strap / rope -- just in case. Green Chile ADV makes a slick portable bike recovery system (Z-drag), too.
I am now keeping a strap w me. I just hope I never have to use it.

That’s what I’ve heard.
That can be one nasty crossing. I dumped my fully loaded CB500X on the right side of that same spot. That crossing has claimed so many bikes. Wish someone would come up with a workaround.
I’ve heard so many stories lately. Legendary creek crossing. It’s become a rite of passage to the tat.
