Hi Francesco thank you fro your enquiry. You cannot connect a battery to the compressor pins directly. The compressor motor is 3 phase DC and you will damage the motor windings. Penguin Refrigeration will test your controller for a small fee if you would like to have it checked.
I have a danfoss 102N3031 for an adler barbour cold machine, bd 2,5. Its stop functioning twice. Is there another module thats compatable with this compressor? Or can I make it function on AC only as the boat is mostly docked at a marina.
Hello, I have found that the fan output is faulty. However when fan unplugged the fridge is working. I also tested the fan separately and it is also working and NOT drawing extra amp only 0.3amp. Any idea ? Thank you
Hi. Thanks for the video. Is it possible to connect directly a danfoss bd 2 to the battery 12v without a controller? I just want to try if the compressor works fine. I have a westfalia. Thanks.
I would like to thank you as I just troubleshooted my compressor with your help and this video. My problem is to find out, what BD I have. Is it a 2,5 , a 3 a BD35 or BD35F? My controller is a 102N3030. On the cover it says Seafrost.
Old video but hopefully I'll get an answer. I use the 24v. What fuse is the proper one? I found a 7.5A one but the one in your vid is blue. Guess it's a 15A? Also can I still get parts from you if necessary?
I have a 12v fridge with almost the same components in this video. The compressor and fan kick on and there is a small thin coiled copper pipe which gets super cold, but the fridge stays warm. It uses a cooling plate. What could it be ?
Hi, it sounds like you have a refrigerant issue if only the start of the cap tube is freezing. You need to get a refrigeration engineer to investigate further - can you confirm the location of the boat and we may be able to recommend someone to help you
Hi. I,ve throughly enjoyed and learned a lot from your videos. I've gone through the tests, replaced the thermistor, but the fridge still has the same problem - it comes on (usually) and stays on for a few hours and sometimes days but then cuts out. It has to be turned off at the control panel and then restarted (after something cools off?). Any suggestions? It is in a '92 VW Eurovan Westfalia. One other thing I've added a 200W solar panel system and the readout on the meter is often well in excess of 13V.
Hi Tom Thank you for contacting us. Its always difficult to diagnose a problem without seeing the fridge set up. If you fridge does got cold and maintains temperature when it runs, it would normally point to an electrical problem,. This could be anything from poor connections, lack of battery power or a faulty electrical component. If you battery power drops off the fridge will shut itself down to protect your batteries from being drained. If you are not able to resolve this issue, contact us directly on sales@penguinfrigo.co.uk.
If the fridge works when the thermostat is linked out the problem is the thermostat (and or it's temperature sensor). It sounds like you need to replace the thermostat. Please send us an email to sales@penguinfrigo.co.uk if we can help with this. Cheers
If the system is 12V then the fuse should be 15A. If you immediately blow a fuse it could be that you have a dead short somewhere in the system. Use a multi meter to check the continuity across each of the pins of the compressor to confirm the resistance is less than 5 ohms. Also scratch a small area of the body of the compressor back to bare metal and again check each pin on the compressor to the bare metal to see if you have any continuity. If you do have continuity or high resistance across the pins then unfortunately you will need to replace the compressor
Hi, we don't repair the board, but we can supply a replacement electrical box - see link: penguinfrigo.co.uk/product/101n0212-danfoss-bd35f-bd50-controller-12-24v/
Hi, I am a refrigerator maker. The front of the fog is a few 12-volt boards. It has no burns unless it turns on. Compressor. How can I repair which equipment?
The controllers are not repaired but a replacement can be purchased, use link penguinfrigo.co.uk/product-category/marine-refrigeration/12v-dc-compressor-spares/ I hope that helps you.
Hi Matteo, Yes, this video is for the type of controller you have on your Westfalia. It is normally wiring, but if your controller does turn out to be faulty you can find a replacement on our website: www.penguinfrigo.co.uk/shop/product/436/control-module-12v-dc4-pinfor-danfoss-bd3-earlier-compressors/
Really helpful video. Currently having an issue with refrigeration on my boat. These videos will help troubleshoot the issue. Thanks for posting!
Very informative and to the point about inverter compressors.

Where to get that controller in SOUTH Africa

My controller is a 102N3030.

Check for the pins when you disconnect the electronics. If you have 3 pins it's bd35/50 or if you have 4 pins it' 2.5/3.
This Videos is well done.Congratulations. My best Regards to you and to your father. Peter Monhart from Wemo Swittzerland
e' possibile conoscere le tensioni in volt che devono arrivare sui 4 pin del compressore

Could the compressor run without his own electric system? I mean, if you connect directly the battery at the compressor, could the compressor run?
How to use 3pin controller on 4 pin compressor sir

I have used BD35f 12/24 volt dc compresor danfoss made in Germany used
Perfect,
This video is really helpful
Thank you.
Once I linked out the thermostat, it worked. Is that a controller problem? Perhaps a temp sensor problem?

I just sent you an email.
Received and will reply this morning
