  • I forgot to say, no post processing except for normalizing the audio to -4.0 dB. I'm testing out the three microphones for voice over or spoken word and so far, of the two new ones I like the Behringer B-5 the best. It also sounds a little clearer than the Neewer NW-7000, so it might be the keeper...

The B5 is amazing. Often preferred to the Rode NT5, it's used for orchestral instruments and choirs.

I had to go with the B-5, because I don't have the budget for the NT5 in Canada. The other less expensive pencil condenser mic I like is the MXL 606. Maybe someday a MKH 416, that's my dream microphone...

Sorry armsby, I reread your comment and made mine look weird. I misunderstood what you said, so I now would like to say thank you and I'm happy I made a good choice...

Thanks, it took me awhile to find that one. I really like the sound quality and the low self noise...

Agreed with anyone else that B5 sounds pretty good. Want to know what you think for the ideal distance between speaker and the mic?
Also, any chance that you''ll look onto the ISK CM20. Pretty cheap SDC mic around $30 which i'm thinking to get one.

, I still use the B-5 but I use head phones because the possibility of feedback. It is a sensitive mic and the distance between the mic and speakers is relative to the amount of gain for the mic and the volume of the speakers. My answer is I'm not sure, because I don't know your setup and levels. I can't find the ISK CM20 in Canada, so no I will not be testing that mic. Sorry for no help, Murray...

Does the behringer b5 pickup noise from behind very much ? I live in an environment with a lot of outdoor noise. Will it pickup the outdoor noise if I use it to record guitar ?

Hi Peter Steve, the B-5 is a super cardoide mic so it does have a bit of a sensitivity from the 180 deg mark but has very little from the sides towards the back. The best thing to do is to put the noise at about 150 deg (if that could be done) to the front of the mic to get the least amount of noise being picked up by the microphone. Also have you thought of a dynamic mic? It might be a better choice, if you have a lot of noise around you. They are better in those situations. Try the Podcastage Channel - th-cam.com/channels/vOU-zTlankT-JjN3ZzvuKA.html he has a lot of dynamic mic reviews there. I hope this helps...

@@murraystechtime8530 Thank you and yes I have a audio technica mb2k dynamic mic but the problem is that when I connect it to focusrite the mic pickup is very less even if I increase gain to its maximum level.
