  • Im getting on with cleaning and fitting the barrels, which is relatively straight forward, ready to move on to the cylinder heads which will be in the next video.

I used a piece of pvc pipe cut to size to hold the rings in place, worked a treat and was free lol

I keep responding to your comment and they keep disappearing for some reason. That’s a cool idea and I love a good DIY tool.

Finally caught up, been crazy busy lately, but good to have over an hours worth of this to fill a quiet moment. Loving your work, that thing is going to purr when you fire her back up. Il be rewatching all of this when my 535 becomes the next project, ( if i ever get time to finish the gs build).

LOL I don’t know where I found the time but this needed doing, I don’t have a running bike atm as I sold my CB500. I’m just working on the heads but have a little way to go getting it all back together. How’s the GS project coming along, got any more done ? If it looks anything like your CB250 scrambler build it’ll be awesome.

It certainly is. I wish I had the patience with cars that you have, I’d never have to pay a garage again 😂

Hello, me again asking questions. so I have came to the conclusion I need to change piston rings and gaskets I have ordered the parts already waiting on the to get to me. but there is a question that is lingering in my head, the bores, in this model need honing? how do I asses if I need anyting done to the walls? I have been reading everywhere and I cant seem to find an answer. I got a micrometer and I am gonna be taking some measurements, but in thhe case the bores are not straight? is this something that can be done? thank you for your invaluable help

Well it’s worth eye balling the cylinders first as I’m sure you’ve done to see if the cross hatching is all good and uniform and it’s recommended to hone any cylinders when installing new rings. I’m no expert but I understand that the fixed stone honing is best as it will show up imperfections in the bore, which the ball hones won’t. It basically removes imperfections, helps seating and assists with oil retention. Hope that helps. I’m about to pull apart the engine of my current project a V4 Honda VF750, so will probably being doing exactly that myself.

Hello, do you have the ignition connection diagram of my yamaha virago xv 535 motorcycle? My motorcycle turns on from the ignition switch, but does not turn off. Even if I turn the key off, the motorcycle continues to run. There is an error in the link. Can you help?

Dude it sounds like a dodgy switch and pretty much isolated. It’s easily unbolted from the right side of the bike with a long extension. I’d pull it off and swap it. Check it round for and external chafing or shorts. Doesn’t sound like a wiring issue elsewhere. I assume you have to hit the kill switch to turn it off ?
