There is hardly anything more frustrating than walking out to your garden only to discover your perennials have been mowed completely to the ground by hungry deer. Luckily, there are flowering perennials that will make your landscape come to life but at the same time are unpalatable to deer.
In this video I give you my top 7 perennials for deer resistance. I think you will be delighted to know that some of the most beautiful and hardy perennials are on the list! If you have deer problems you definitely don't want to miss this one!
    Hi!
My name is Justin and I have my managed my family's business (S&K Greenhouse) for the last 10 years! It is a local garden center in Shelby, NC that my family started around 25 years ago.
We have a strong desire to discuss and teach gardening to the online community and welcome anyone who wants to learn. Though we have been involved in the plant world for decades we have found that there is always something to learn when it comes to gardening.
Whether you are a master gardener or just starting out this channel is for you. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our videos!

Justin I really enjoy your videos, I’m in a zone 8a in east Texas. This was my first year to do a vegetable garden 🪴 I have watched all your videos and they have been so helpful! We have a heavy deer population so we built a enclosed vegetable garden to keep them out ! So far so good.. I have several flower gardens among our 23 acre plot, so vegetables are a new world to me , but I really believe because of your videos and sharing your knowledge I “So Far “ have been very successful. Thank you Justin , I always look forward to your videos ! Misty

Deers in my area eat my coneflowers almost to the ground. The deers eat mint, lilac, and chives to. The deers have also eaten all the flowers off the bee balm.

That's different! Deer usually detests mint. Spray your flowers with lavender or mint essential oil.

I was with you all the way to Monarda. I planted one this year and it has been a favorite of the deer. I also added an orange mint and just last night they mowed that one almost to the ground. So much for deer not liking mint!

I'm in zone 6a SE Michigan, I have all of these in my yard. The deer will eat the Baptisia and have tasted the coneflower a few times, but certainly don't mow them down like my other plants.

Coneflowers and Rudbeckia are no goes here, they get chomped down in my garden. But, I am having great luck with Foxglove, allium, and miscanthus. I am going to try nepeta and lavender this year. I contacted Michigan State University horticulture department but they haven't responded yet. I'm nervous I'm doing something wrong. Can you shed some light what I should do. Thank you Anita
