If I had $1000 extra, I would buy these speakers in a heartbeat. True audiophile speakers (in my opinion) and whoever owns these should count himself blessed.
speaker cables don't really matter, just get some decent ones for over 30$. cables in reality don't do alot to the sound. they are able to add a bit more calmness to the sound though in my opinion
Er - no, it isnt 'one single driver'. You need to brush up on how a coaxial speaker works. Simply because the tweeter is inside the woofer doesn't mean they're the same as fullrange speakers. KEF specify the LS-50 as a 2-way design : that means a separate tweeter and a crossover to make the magic happen. Be really interested to see what a film sounds like through them as thinking of doing something similar with the LS50 either side of the TV, then maybe a centre and sub in the future Also whack some drum and bass on and upload that ;-) Although I think I'll have to stick the headphones to get down to the sub bass without cracking the windows.
+Brian Nicholas I used to have a surround system, but for listening to music, it was not good. changed it to stereo, and a good stereo sound is better to look for movies than the other way around. man has only 2 ears and not 7.1 ears. :) ..my opinion.
Nice video. I recently bought some LS50’s and I’m very pleased, the bass is particularly good for such a small speaker. Out of interest, have you tried experimenting with pairing a subwoofer to the LS50’s?
What other speakers have you had, and are these your best ones so far? I have JBL 530 and the Uni-fi UB5. Would be interested in selling them both to get these. I have a good amp already
I'm considering buing these. My apartment is small, so I would have to place them on the TV table - a large, sturdy piece of furniture (from the Bestå series, IKEA). Would this compromise their quality?
Lars Vadgaard It depends on how much you can isolate the speakers from the table. If it vibrates with the speakers it will color the sound. Also, you shouldn’t have them too close to the wall behind them; I have mine about two feet away.

They have adequate bass for normal listening conditions but you’re going to need a sub for movies or floor shaking bass.

You placed them horizontally. Did you notice any difference in the sound signature? Given that they were designed to be positioned vertically?
Horizontal dissolve in my opinion even better .. Whether it is the weight distribution because of the larger area is a guess.

yes ... Canton Vento 880.2 with ceramic tweeters. Both are very good ... have their charm .... I think the LS50 plays holographic ..

20 € stand ... normal cheap ... important that they are heavy and best to fill with fine sand ..;)

Is the tweeter in the middle of the main driver?
Yes.. ´´The Flower´´ is the tweeter. ;)
JBL Studio 530 compete very close to these.
