FFRC, I have the Bugs3 coming along with the X251. I like both of them because of videos like yours and some others reviewers. I also have both of the X16's, the altitude hold bird offers a little more control but the manual bird has a much faster punch out.
Great video!!! I'm new to all this and curious about the life expectancy of the brushless motors. Also are the motors a common size that could be replaced easily. I would greatly appreciate a video showing the replacement process of the motor. thank you!!
+Kevin Schreckengost Brushless motors last a lot longer than brushed motors. As for these motors, yes they are common size and easily replaceable given you can solder a little.
I got a bugs 3 h from my daughter for fathers day. I fly plane and heli, cars, trucks, did lots of research. And picked the bug3h did all the calibrations. And flew in my house great I have a film me flying in house without my gopro, and flew great. Got my friends/family all together and still did the calibration in the road turned on my hero silver4 with a 128 gig sim set back start the motors stick up slow hover 5 foot then took to 25 feet after that I had no transmiter to the bugs3 h and it went full speed straight up and out of sight. Lost it never got to fly it. My daughter writes them. And they tell her he flew it in a tree. I never got to fly! Everything was charged. I have 5 other drones and I have a 3DR iris but wanted something fast. Liked your review of of bugs 3 and wanted attitude hold so other can fly with me. So I don't have a crashed drone from other hands. #MJX unfair, But I never got to fly it. I think they should make it right. Give me a bugs3H with a good camera and make it fair. I'm going to take a bite out of the business they have. What do you think? I'm a veteran RC hobbies.

Frequent Flyer RC Depends on how the FC is getting its power. If it's powered through a step-down, you can run any battery the esc's can handle. If not, yeah it'll fry it.

Cool review Philly, I dont have one yet, Got one off of ebay back in Nov. However I am putting it more in the bayangtoys x16 category mostly because of its independent ESC'S.. unlike the x1 and the xk251 if a motor stops working on me? I feel with independent ESC's I stand half a chance of a DIY repair.. I really cant stand the way the other one's are all micro soldered with a data strip and integrated with the main board...
so in my crash the wires snapped off the motor side of the ESC. think I lost a bit of wire too seeing as. theere much shorter now. should I ADD wire or try to resolder the short ones? I think I might be able to fix it..if ur advice ends up not working no hard feelings man. I just want another opinion as to how to fix this bug =)

I burnt out an ESC on my Bugs 3. Do you know what Amp these ESC's are, or if any other ESC's like DYS or RacerStar will work the same if I swap out all 4 ESC? Any thoughts on how to best replace the ESC(S) is much appreciated.
have ever replaced the bugs 3 main frame? i did and had to cut the motors wires on all four to get them out! when i put them back in i had to use solid copper wire to extend after cutting so when all done lights work correctly but motors will not come on!...any suggestions ???

Frequent Flyer RC If you are high up, and you let it come down fast, it gets unstable, also flying fast and doing fast turns it will flip, maybe the props will help, for $5 its worth a try
+jeff tiong if the 2S fits it should work and the larger ones should give longer flights. As for the 3S I recommend a 1300mah, 1500mah at most as I don't think any larger ones fit well.

Hey, how is it going? i recently crashed my MJX Bugs 3. i was hoping your could provide some insight. one of the motors wires became split due to a harsh fall. after discussing with some peers, i decided it would be best to remove all components and place them onto a different shell, perhaps Carbon Fiber. the single motor i purchased is of the same make and quality of the other three. My question is.... if i wanted to upgrade the motors, they would not be compatible with the board currently provided within the Bugs 3 correct? Meaning you ave to have a board that can support the motor. Thank you in advance.
+Eli R The flight controller is ok with the upgrade motors. Sell would be fine. No need to get a new board. Motors connect to the ESCs and ESCs talk to the board.

Do you know how to turn off the lvc warning of bgs3 transmitter? Mine comes on way too early, and is annoying.....the quad warning is enough, as I'm not a distance flyer. Any thoughts? Love the bugs...but the beeps are driving me nuts!

Frequent Flyer RC Banana connectors will actually connect to XT60 plugs. I have a few 4s batteries with banana plugs and they work fine with my XT60 plugs on my quads.
+Forward Flight is there still a possibility that someone would put it in with polarity wrong? Haven't tested it but will when I get home but thinking about it, it seems like it could be plugged backwards lol
Frequent Flyer RC The positive and negative are clearly marked on most, plus the banana plugs on my batteries also have one flat edge like the XT60, But yes, people can get it wrong. Some people will always get things wrong, they're PEOPLE. Haha.
Ah crap. I have two brand new 3S 2200 mah on the shelf, and just order the adapter for deans plug to xt30... What was the problem with 3S? I hope you didn't burn stuff up...
both of my As props start when i unlock the bugs but both the Bs dont start until i push up the throttle it still flys but is alittle off balance and just doesnt look right. Do you have any idea of to fixit. iv messed with the trim an re collaborated it . still no change. plz help?

+colt kwilkerson don't know if it's faster but definitely has more power and better features. X251 Has a nicer quality transmitter but function wise, the Bugs transmitter wins
Excellent review. You were right in the last video about how easy it seems to be to work on and mods. I have to tell you, GB did a number on me. After 2 days I noticed my Bugs3 wasn't shipping. They then sent me a message that shipping would be a $2.85 more. I had chosen priority and order was accepted/paid at the time. Anyway, I said ok, ship it. Next day they wrote me and said they made a mistake, it would be $14.80. I normally go thru BG, but had a discount coupon. Order is cancelled now, but in my book they are SCAMBEST. It was my only time to order from them and they did this. Never will buy there again. Anyway, good job on video.
Yes, they sent me a note today that the Paypal money was refunded. They also offered a generous 50GB points which they said amounts to a whopping $1 USD ! I told them to keep the dollar and buy yourself a stick of gum to celebrate wrecking someone's xmas present. If they had made any attempt to negotiate rather than just making me fully pay for their mistake, it could have been more palatable.
I ditched the battery cradle and holder and I stuck a piece of industrial strength vector tape to the bottom side of the B3 and my battery's. Long story short I saved myself a lot of weight and I have longer flight times. Fpv cam coming next week 😎 I also got a IMAX charger so I can charge my batteries in 15min in stead of 5hours (yuck)
great review, extremely interesting little quad great price by the looks of it. really like the in depth approach, only seby docky does the teardown and he can't review everything and its true two heads are better than one. i notice the esc's had big filter capacitors on them and the board itself has a big 25v one???.. if the filters on the esc are 10v its 2s 16v would be 3s and possibly 4s, but i'm told they use 10% higher capacitors than is needed.. for headroom. i'm not sure if the fc board will be happy with 4s but its possible ...heavier power cables. if you see any of those spare jst ports with the markings v+ v_ rx tx... it means its a port for usb or some other input/output, depending on how the board is flashed it might even be possible to open it in cleanflight/betaflight which would be fantastic. its just as likely it can't be opened though as most chips, i'm told, are closed. the bootloader can't be opened or changed i mean. .. i'm going into detail because quads like this are probably gonna be a major stepping stone into faster carbon frame quads, which have kinda swung the other way now, the 250 sized carbon quads were slow and heavy but the recent batch of 210 sized ones an the new motors are just too fast for beginners, so quads like this are the new fpv acro trainer... cheap easy to fix, learn as you need to kinda deal.
I hope you aren't still using that 3 cell 2200 mah battery anymore. I'm referring to the black ROA battery with the yellow and gold sticker which you mention was a little puffed. It looks like it has more than a puffed cell or two... lol How's the frame, looks a little weak, will it hold up? Also, can you fly it deviated yet?

Certain that I know enough to get it flying now. As for the battery, it came that way. I think it's padding making it look puffy as the cells seem to be fine. I crashed the Bugs! LOL
So, is the frame "bugged" or just busted? I am just about ready to press the order button but am concerned over the durability of the frame. If you ain't crashing, you ain't flying like you stole it...but if can't have a reasonable chance to survive a crash or two, then you'll be fixing way too much...just saying.
More chop chop, striping and modding. Do you test him with F10? Are the MJX fix the fly away issues from X101 for example?.... this kid remote is not very truthful Proceed with attention for PDB: If this puppy run on 3S maybe i try him some day !

I hate altitude hold when you can't have the option to disable it because it causes some quads to fly away!

It's to keep the soldering points still. If they move to much it breaks the connection 👌🏽

They are size M5 for MT1806 / MT2204 motors
Can I use a 7.4v 2600mAh lipo with jst plug modding it to xt30 plug? it has the same dimension as the stock.

+marc Prieur I only tested batts I had already so not sure what's best but 2200 mah sounds too heavy even though it lifts it. I would go with smaller size like 1500 mah if you can find it. I'm gonna try 1300mah I have
Hey, how is it going? i recently crashed my MJX Bugs 3. i was hoping your could provide some insight. one of the motors wires became split due to a harsh fall. after discussing with some peers, i decided it would be best to remove all components and place them onto a different shell, perhaps Carbon Fiber. the single motor i purchased is of the same make and quality of the other three. My question is.... if i wanted to upgrade the motors, they would not be compatible with the board currently provided within the Bugs 3 correct? Meaning you ave to have a board that can support the motor. Thank you in advance.
+Eli R The flight controller is ok with the upgrade motors. Sell would be fine. No need to get a new board. Motors connect to the ESCs and ESCs talk to the board.

Do you know how to turn off the lvc warning of bgs3 transmitter? Mine comes on way too early, and is annoying.....the quad warning is enough, as I'm not a distance flyer. Any thoughts? Love the bugs...but the beeps are driving me nuts!
Only way I know is kinda destructive.. Disconnect the buzzer inside the transmitter!
Do you know what it looks like? I was looking for a small speaker, but only took off the back.... didn't completely take it apart, in case I mess up. I'm not sure what to look for.

Frequent Flyer RC Banana connectors will actually connect to XT60 plugs. I have a few 4s batteries with banana plugs and they work fine with my XT60 plugs on my quads.
+Forward Flight is there still a possibility that someone would put it in with polarity wrong? Haven't tested it but will when I get home but thinking about it, it seems like it could be plugged backwards lol
Frequent Flyer RC The positive and negative are clearly marked on most, plus the banana plugs on my batteries also have one flat edge like the XT60, But yes, people can get it wrong. Some people will always get things wrong, they're PEOPLE. Haha.

Yes it did but I don't recommend it with newer versions. It works great with my older Bugs 3 but I tried it on a new one and it didn't like it! 🤣

+Eric B do your best to just peel and pick the glue off. As far as the motor wires, yes just solder them back together.

both of my As props start when i unlock the bugs but both the Bs dont start until i push up the throttle it still flys but is alittle off balance and just doesnt look right. Do you have any idea of to fixit. iv messed with the trim an re collaborated it . still no change. plz help?

+colt kwilkerson don't know if it's faster but definitely has more power and better features. X251 Has a nicer quality transmitter but function wise, the Bugs transmitter wins

I have to tell you, GB did a number on me. After 2 days I noticed my Bugs3 wasn't shipping. They then sent me a message that shipping would be a $2.85 more. I had chosen priority and order was accepted/paid at the time. Anyway, I said ok, ship it.
Next day they wrote me and said they made a mistake, it would be $14.80. I normally go thru BG, but had a discount coupon. Order is cancelled now, but in my book they are SCAMBEST. It was my only time to order from them and they did this. Never will buy there again. Anyway, good job on video.

Yes, they sent me a note today that the Paypal money was refunded. They also offered a generous 50GB points which they said amounts to a whopping $1 USD ! I told them to keep the dollar and buy yourself a stick of gum to celebrate wrecking someone's xmas present. If they had made any attempt to negotiate rather than just making me fully pay for their mistake, it could have been more palatable.
I ditched the battery cradle and holder and I stuck a piece of industrial strength vector tape to the bottom side of the B3 and my battery's. Long story short I saved myself a lot of weight and I have longer flight times.
Fpv cam coming next week 😎
I also got a IMAX charger so I can charge my batteries in 15min in stead of 5hours (yuck)

Only meant for 2S voltage but says it supports 3S. I would recommend staying at 2S.

great review, extremely interesting little quad great price by the looks of it. really like the in depth approach, only seby docky does the teardown and he can't review everything and its true two heads are better than one. i notice the esc's had big filter capacitors on them and the board itself has a big 25v one???.. if the filters on the esc are 10v its 2s 16v would be 3s and possibly 4s, but i'm told they use 10% higher capacitors than is needed.. for headroom. i'm not sure if the fc board will be happy with 4s but its possible ...heavier power cables. if you see any of those spare jst ports with the markings v+ v_ rx tx... it means its a port for usb or some other input/output, depending on how the board is flashed it might even be possible to open it in cleanflight/betaflight which would be fantastic. its just as likely it can't be opened though as most chips, i'm told, are closed. the bootloader can't be opened or changed i mean. .. i'm going into detail because quads like this are probably gonna be a major stepping stone into faster carbon frame quads, which have kinda swung the other way now, the 250 sized carbon quads were slow and heavy but the recent batch of 210 sized ones an the new motors are just too fast for beginners, so quads like this are the new fpv acro trainer... cheap easy to fix, learn as you need to kinda deal.

I hope you aren't still using that 3 cell 2200 mah battery anymore. I'm referring to the black ROA battery with the yellow and gold sticker which you mention was a little puffed. It looks like it has more than a puffed cell or two... lol
How's the frame, looks a little weak, will it hold up? Also, can you fly it deviated yet?

Certain that I know enough to get it flying now. As for the battery, it came that way. I think it's padding making it look puffy as the cells seem to be fine. I crashed the Bugs! LOL
So, is the frame "bugged" or just busted? I am just about ready to press the order button but am concerned over the durability of the frame. If you ain't crashing, you ain't flying like you stole it...but if can't have a reasonable chance to survive a crash or two, then you'll be fixing way too much...just saying.
