Twenty-year-old Jean Simmons was ever so luminous in "So Long at the Fair" opposite Dirk Bogarde. The film was top drawer in the UK, because, as Bogarde said, "We were pretty;" too modest to say they were both great dramatic actors.
IMO, Jean's best picture is "Guys and Dolls" released in 1955. While Brando and Sinatra were at their best, the 26-year old Jean stole the show. In that movie, she held a romantic and witty courtship banter with Brando; she sang, danced, and engaged in a fist fight (!) without losing her femininity. She won the Best Actress Golden Globe Award for her performance in Guys and Dolls.
Well done, Jean Simmons. God rest your soul.

I recently saw Jean Simmons in 'Black Narcissus' in which she plays the part of a young Indian girl. Jean is absolutely stunning in this film, she is ethereal. Jean is buried in Highgate Cemetery. It is nice to know that although Jean Simmons spent many years in America, her final resting place is in London, where she was born and raised.

Jean was at her most beautiful in “Until They Sail” and paired magically with Paul Newman ; Piper Laurie excellent too.

I would say it's a toss-up between "Until They Sail" and "This Could Be The Night." And maybe "Guys and Dolls." She was stunning, and even prettier in her 30s.
Jean had a small part in the masterpiece "Black Narcissus". She was 18 and her beauty is mesmerising.
Everyone should see the movie “dasies in December” by Jean when she was 66 years old! A legendary movie! ❤️❤️❤️

This was very good. Thank you; However, you don't need to entitle it "mystery life and painful ending" because that was simply not true. Jean Simmons was an excellent actress who died at an old age of one of the top three causes of death. Where is the painful ending in that? As we get older, women in the western world are often alone, so if Jean was alone at the end of her life, that too is not different from the majority of women. You could try to be a little more creative in your title, for example : "The life of Jean Simmons : beauty, talent and a social conscience" You have much more talent than me to find a better title than the one you came up with. Having written all this, it WAS an interesting documentary. Thank you.

That's Vivien Leigh and Claude Raines at 01:40 in the film "Caesar and Cleopatra," (1945) and at 03:07. Jean Simmons only had a non-titled small role as a harpist in the film. I don't write this to take away from Jean Simmons' talent, but to focus on the inaccuracy of this video. Leigh and Simmons did have similar looks.

She did the noir film "Angel Face" that Howard Huges forced her to make to be release from her contract. Then went to 20th Century Fox. She sang in Guys and Dolls with Marlon Brando. The Happy Ending she got another oscar nomination.

It was Vivien Leigh who starred in the 1945 film, Caesar and Cleopatra, not Jean Simmons, although sometimes there seems to be a resemblance between both actresses.
You are wrong. Both were in the movie. Of course Vivien was Cleopatra and Jean played her slave.

@@NerdNest0 My confusion...when the narrator mentioned Jean Simmons, Vivien Leigh was shown. Jean Simmons was indeed in the film and played the role of the Harpist. She was 16 years old at the time. Cleopatra's lady attendant was played by Olga Edwardes and Flora Robson played Flatateeta. The first time I saw the movie was in 1984, and 5 years ago. I'll watch it again.
