Some of the stronger farming maps to potentially look out for: Domain of Istan (Season 4, "Daybreak") Dragonfall (Season 4, "War Eternal") Drizzlewood Coast South (Icebrood Saga, "No Quarter") Bjora Marches (Icebrood Saga, "Whisper in the Dark/Shadow in the Ice)
One of the things I love about MightyTeapot (MT) is that you can trace his livestream discussions of what's needed to improve GW2. This video seems like a direct reaction to a recent livestream discussion from last week where MT's cohost was explaining the anxiety people get selling items. MT didn't understand the mentality because he doesn't think that way. Instead of invalidating those thoughts, MT accepts them and makes this video to help. This is a bigger lesson that people may realize. Sometimes we can't understand what other people are going through... but we can listen and try and help as best we can. Great vid!
Selling things is always a problem for me because I'm always working on legendary items. RN I'm working on Astralaria, Nevermore, Vision, Verderarch, Sunrise, Kraitkin, one Gen 3, light wvw shorts and 2 remaining sigils. These projects require a lot AND once I'm done with one, I usually have two new things I'm looking forward to craft.
These guides are helpful to me as a newer player, in WoW I would just vendor everything, but i found your content within my first week of starting at so i just horded everything up until 1000 in material storage and sold things as the started taking up bag space, although spring is here and time to clean
Bro just sell everyrhing like i do so you have the gold you need to buy what you want. Dont keep everything sell everything that can be sell at trading post so when you will need a specific item you can buy it or rebuy it when need
I am a newly returning player after several years away, and I'm having the greatest play experience thanks to your incredible guides and videos. I also appreciate your friendliness as you explain everything so clearly. Thank you so much!
awesome video as always :) thanks. I have a question/video idea for you: as a beginner / returning player, which *non material* item should i keep and which ones do i sell/trash? (especially looking at all of the "trophy" items in the game)
what's your favorite kind of sandwich? These videos are great. Short and to the point and open-ended enough to be a guide for learning instead of a step-by-step rulebook.
As I neared finishing all my legendary goals, I noted my gold levels continued to rise, largely because I no longer need to craft any gear for my toons - ty Armory. So I decided on a gold cap, and now any gold I have in excess of that cap I'll just convert to Gems when the rate is good. When something new appears on the Gem Store, instead of hmmming of huhhhhing over it, I just buy it. This excess resources now. Same with items I see on the TP. A dye I don't have but will never use? Buy it because why not.
@@Victorgreat4 dude, getting gold is ez in this game, especially when you're blessed by the sir RNG. u can get 50g daily by casual play and even more if u put some effort into it. 100 gems is abt 30-35gold

Legendaries are not my goal any time soon, since i just started playing less than 2 months ago and im not gonna play any other characters beside mechanist(main) and then ranger. I just want material to craft ascended armor, i already have all the trinkets so what materials do i sell???? Still no idea I'm (Leatherworker) for medium aromor
As a new player this is great! My goal right now is getting the Griffon and im sitting on 123 gold, i sold some materials for 30ish gold the other day and was feeling kind of guilty, but i dont wanna craft legendary weapons anytime soon so this actually helps me feel a bit better since i'm still 127 gold away from my Griffon lol
I have so much crap spaced out over many toons and in my bank, coz I'm unsure if to get rid of it or not. Then there's the gear where I don't know if it could be upgraded. Just to tidy up invo really 🤣
One thing i learned is that i saved every damn resources and found myself like how do i make money etc, then when i decided to sell everything i had over 400gold stacked in my storage/inventories, now i see where my money was.
Thanks for this guide. I just sold all of my mats and bought a ghostly infusion and then converted the rest of the gold to gems so I could buy 11 Mistlock Sancturary Passkeys (2 weeks). For the next 22 weeks I am going to know how it feels to be in the top 1% of the top 1% of GW2 players. Also what is your favourite crab?
@@tom9137 That's very true however I don't think I could ever value temp. items compared to my permanent pass keys. =P They are just too darn convenient to use. It was painful waiting for them to rotate into the gem store.
each time I hit a 100 gold. milestone thata is the minimum gold that I have, so basically 300 gold, I see only 50 gold unless I have to spend a lot of golds on materials so 350 translates to 150
The way they made it to craft gen 3 legendaries deflated the value of everything before icebrood Saga. Coming out with new legendaries based on gen 1 and Gen 2 crafting needs was what kept all content valuable
OK now gimme the tutorial on time compression because by the time I do the dailies and the T2 Fractals I feel I don't have time to slap around other stuff and this game is fuggen HUGE!
Perhaps it's worth noting that if you don't have a specific goal and you have "enough" gold lying around, selling all your materials will essentially lose you 15% of your wealth. So if you don't need gold, hoard everything. You'll probably need the materials more than gold at some point
I sold my Jade Runestones because I wasn't using them...I had no plan to use them. 2 days later the chest is NERFED and I lost about 50 silver on each Runestone sold. >_
Back when I was still playing the game, a combination of being a hoarder and doing all the money-printing instanced activities in the game meant that, due to unique currency or resource timegate bottlenecks, I always had more money and materials than I could ever spend without being a baron. Doing profitable content is like trading: It's not for everyone, it takes time and effort, but it sets you up economically for the rest of the time you want to have with the game, without ever having to grind.
I have so many items that look special that i don't know what to do with. Many of them are not sellable. I literally try to come back to the game but look at my inventory which is full so i can't do fractals or anything and just leave lol.
I think Teapot kinda lost some in the sauce there. You should ONLY get LWS4 Dragonfall and IBS Drizzlewood coast. Then use the earnings from that (even though I find daily Strikes, Fractal CMs and raids) way more of a payday. But the best goldfarming area right now is without a doubt EOD, Levi fishing is insane, ASS farming is higher gold per hour yiel than anything.
I know that some LS is not efficient, however I think most players will want to get the content in the game unlocked first before prioritizing omega gold grinding.

This is my philosophy. Hoard everything!
I did indeed say that in the video.
I have tried to use gw2 efficiency just yesterday and it keeps giving me errors when I try to use my API key. Do you guys have the same issue?
I like ecto gambling, besides hoarding stuff for legendary crafting, it's my main gold sink.

Do /wiki then shift+click an item to pull up the wiki page for said item. Might be helpful for checking what an item is from.
Another solution would be to invest in bigger bags, its a huge quality of life increase.
Try to dump as much as possible on a separate character
1) sell all your stuff until you have enough for 250 ecto and 100g
2) buy a shinny destabilized ecto glob from the skritt
3) ...?
4) profit
