What I'm thinking is, a lot of girlies are new to fragrance and because these are so affordable and they don't have much experience - they don't lie but they don't know good from bad. They're still learning. Unfortunately people with experienced noses and taste in expensive fragrance- we must put up with this nonsense. When I say majority of these cheap brands have 1-2 good ones to "lure you in", but like 99% is trash. And you have to venture out into more niche brands that do offer better quality..😮
I subscribed because finally someone is agreeing with me! So much unnecessary hype. And now I have countless bottles in my house that need to be decluttered
I am getting better at paying attention to the notes and realizing what I don't like instead of following the hype. Peony, almond, and Middle Eastern oud are a straight up no for me. Lychee has grown on me, but it has to be mixed with something good. Surprisingly, rose is growing on me too.
I love an honest review🤣 too many ppl rave and hype these perfumes up. Especially the loud oudy ones. They make it seem like it's sweet oudy heaven when it really smells like the gates of hell opened up 🤣
Target has a pistachio scent from the Fine'ry that I actually like. It's not bad, but yum pistachio just does not do it for me. Maybe they have too many notes in it. Almond is just a straight-up no for me. I have tried a few different almond scents, and they are bad.
Bade'e Al Oud Amethyst is a beast! Its not a bad scent like you state but it does lean quite masculine with the leathery oud note. I prefer sweeter feminine scents. Khair Pistachio however is stunning! Havent tried Yum Pistachio so cant compare, but I really enjoy Khair Pistachio ❤
Girl you crack me up, lol. But I agree with you, some of these scents are so hyped and then the reality is totally different. You are right though, everyone’s nose is different. People raved about how sweet and delicious smelling ChocoMusk was but to my nose it smelled like hairspray. Oh well, lol. I’m going to try it again now that it’s been a few months and see if I actually get some chocolate.
Girl that Ajayeb Portrait by Lattafa was another strong and wrong one! So many influencers acted like it was the best. It smells stinky on the opening then it turns into a wet wood with mango. The mango is beautiful and realistic but the oud and whatever else in it is not good
@jonestacara Listen, our parents grew up thinking Chanel number 5 smells good 🤣 so they like most fragrances. They are not very picky. The fragrances my dad buys kill me every time, and he swears they smell good. I am so glad now that they sent the wrong thing.
@@patrececritiques 😂😂😂right! Cause Chanel no 5 is not good at all lol. I remember the first time I smelled Youth Dew one of Estée Lauder oldest scents. It smelled so bad but it’s so cool they still have the same formula from the 50s
I definitely understand what you mean. There's a lot of hype surrounding Middle Eastern fragrances, especially at the current price point. But I must say there are some that's worth checking out.
It depends. If it's hyped up or was recommended by someone and it doesn't hit, then I feel bamboozled. If I blind buy based on reading the notes and no other review was taken into consideration, then I take the L.
@@patrececritiques I can see that. I just think if someone else liked it and told you so and then you try it and don't like it that isn't being bamboozled to me. But I can definitely see being let down by it. Not trying to start an argument lol.
The fragrance world is such a fun and unique space. Everyone one has a different scent profile, and that makes it beautiful. Not everyone will like the same things....but when I see the hype of these fragrances and for my nostrils to not like them, lol. I conclude that I have been bamboozled because there is no way we are smelling the same thing. 😆 🤣.
@@patrececritiques oh yeah for sure. We all smell things either slightly differently or very very differently. That's one thing that makes all this interesting. Just yesterday I was wearing lattafa Asad (which I LOVE) and was getting compliments all day til one person gave me her honest opinion and it was different from everyone else's.
How many of these you worn pon kin? Might better if you try spray on your lower part away from your nose because they might be too strong that's why you only gettin the stronger notes but like some on your man. You need to let that kick about in the air b4 it gets to your nose
Great advice, thank you! I did give them a chance and wore them several times on my wrist and arms. So it was not very close to the nose and still found some unpleasant. After all that, I came to the conclusion that Middle Eastern oud is not for me. Most of the ones I did not like have oud as a note.
It is a very interesting world for sure. My nostrils are childish, though. They like simple scents. Hopefully, they will grow up so I can appreciate the more complex stuff soon.
@@patrececritiques Yeah, sometimes you've just got to embrace the complexity and jump out the window. I'm a fragrance nerd daredevil, so the more extreme, weird, and off-putting the better.
Lol, seems like you're not into middle eastern style ouds and if that's the case all these would definitely be horrible to your nose, some nice scents in this line up Imho lol😂
Amethyst is crazy good!!! Trust me, it's cheap so even if you don't like it just give it away but do try it, she's correct though it leans a bit more masculine.
Hey Patrece just started following you and I really enjoy your content. I spent some time in the Middle East so know Arabic perfumes. I'm 💯 sure you don't like oud. I don't either! I do love the khair pistachio. Probably because it smells like a middle eastern bakery!
I definitely don't like oud, but I do like pistachio. There is something about yum pistachio/khair that I can't get with. Target has a pistachio scent from the Fine'ry, and I really like that one.
You probably need to put them in perfume jail for a month. I had the same reaction to Amethyst, gave to my husband and a year later it's definitely quite feminine and much sweeter and very rosy. It still smells nice on him but I could happily wear it too.
Are you okay? Coming off kinda strong here. There are many Middle Eastern fragrances that I like. And yes, I believe some of these people lied because a few of these smell terrible 🤣😂. Why would they lie? Ask them.
@MrsOrganics Very STRONG 💪!!!!! Being influenced is the whole point of watching review videos. I like fragrances, so I see what others say about them and purchase accordingly. Others I research and others I blind buy. In your first comment, you accused me of not liking Middle Eastern fragrances ( which is a lie). 🤣😂 @ the gates of hell! They are loud and overwhelming, for sure. I definitely don't get the sweet they are talking about, either.
Yeah I’m at a point where I have to take peoples reviews with a grain of salt so I appreciate the transparency. Definitely following!
Thank you! Fragrance is tricky as everyone has a different scent profile. But some of these I side because there is no way.
Im on my 3rd bottle of Khair Pistachio! I get straight fluffy cotton candy on my skin and i love it so much!
Do you prefer Khair or Yum Pistachio?
I’m with you…don’t get the pistachio craze. It’s powdery and old lady and nothing sweet about it. We agree on almond scents too 🤮

Khair and Yum smell almost identical, but yum is a little more creamy. I hope it grows on me the more I use it. Now Amethyst is STRONG!

Choco Musk is good on the dry down, and it must be layered to smell good. On its own, it's just okay to me.
I'm cackling because I love Musk Mood. It's powdery, light and clean and soft. I also love Oud Mood. They are absolute favorites ♡ 😅
Light? Soft? I think my nostrils are broken 😆 🤣. I get the opposite.

@jonestacara I believe our kids are going to clown us for Bacarat 540 in the future. That's going to our version of Chanel number 5 lol.
I quit watching TH-camrs who even feature these perfumes. I think the only one who’s stayed true to real perfumery is AI The Great.
