Saw the great Ian Corrigan at a carnival in Granemore many years ago. Great singer and the best and original version of this song. wonder what he,s doing now.
It was great to find this. I didn't know, that there was any television footage of Ian Corrigan at all. Was it his only television appearence, I wonder.?
Yes He captained the Cavan Team in the All Ireland final 1947, played in the Polo Grounds New York, they beat Mayo in Croke Park in 1948 but lost to Meath in 1949. I believe he died in the Curragh Camp in 1953 or maybe it was 1954. Time does something to the Memory. Commandant John Joe O'Reilly was buried with full Military Honours, I can't remember if he is buried in Cornfean, Co. Cavan or the Curragh Camp. I'll have to look it up.

He is buried in St Bridgets Cemetery in Killeshandra.
Who is the fellow speaking as Gaeilge at the start of the video?
His name is Nicholas Carolan. I think the excerpt is from a programme called 'Come West Along The Road'.
This must have been filmed in the 1970s :)
