It’s kinda crazy that the core i3/i5/i7 line up of processors is so old that it still technically supports windows xp
It’s not about the processors nor the mainboard chipset. It’s mainly the manufacturer support and drivers availability. Theoretically if some manufacturer would write and release XP drivers for 13th gen Intel, the Windows XP would still work. Sounds crazy and impossible, i know. But trust me it’s 100% doable.
Windows XP was discontinued in 2014
Today this build would be equivalent to an i3-10100 and a 1060. So you could use those parts on something like windows 7

Literally installing Windows XP is pretty difficult on my laptop,because 32 bit is not supported on my laptop,probably sp2 64 bit xp should work(if it can or somehow my laptop doesnt detect my windows xp inside.)

i wanted to make mention of this just to make some corrections. 4th gen intel cpus will work on xp and i know from experience. the gtx titan x maxwell will also work with a quick modifcation to the gtx 960 driver for xp.
Loved win 7 that i had but had to upgrade to 10 to play latest games, wish win 7 and xp were still compatible for new apps

I have done the exact same thing, made a xp pro x64 build, with 4770k (Snappy Driver Installer Origin), and GTX960.
I installed steam too, but i have managed to get 9 or so games launching on XP.
i installed games on a different pc, and moved them to the XP build.
Half-Life Source and Half-life 2 i had to go and select lastest beta, then i could get them to launch on XP-Steam.
Crysis 2 Maxium Edition, Dead island, HiraganaBattle, HuniePop, Portal and Serious Sam HD First and Second encounter.
The biggest problem is when you launch the games the first time and if they need to get a key from steam, and steam can't download.

3:25 I strongly disagree! In a Windows XP machine, GOG is your friend. You can download and install all your GOG games via external device and the best part is they'll all run natively on your system. No launcher needed, as is should be!

Pretty easy on ebay dell 7010/9010. Throw in an ssd. And decent gpu like 750ti or titan x (modded driver) and or modified case, sata drivers for xp. Retro rig. It's not cheap but win98 ones are more expensive then xp ones especially if you build yourself

You can go harder. Ryzen 5000-series or even newer, easy2boot, gtx9-series or Titan X G1.

I have this exact pc model with an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 745 but I installed Windows 7 dualbooted with Linux Mint rather than using Windows 10 or 11 which ultimately aren't very good oses in my opinion.

That's not the fastest Windows XP PC until you slap a RTX 4090 in there with and amd 3d cpu
RTX 4090 doesn't support XP nor 7 nor 8.x due to the lack of videocard driver.

Dont use an SSD with windows XP. Windows XP lacks TRIM support (which was introduced with Windows 7 I believe). TRIM is incredibly important when using an SSD, as without it, the OS wont unload sectors which will wear down the SSD much faster.
