Stumbled upon this great lesson because the band I'm in decided to throw in a couple rockabilly tunes. Wow, not sure if I am impressed more by the G licks or life's lessons. Fantastic and a keeper and now a subscriber. Thank you Damian. You nailed it on both. Marshall from Pa
Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated. I've got a few Rhythm lessons on the channel. Just search through my lessons, you'll find them. :) Keep on Rockin' DAMIAN
Another great lesson from you Damian - love the discords. This is lesson number nine that I have learned from you ..... can't wait to get out of lockdown and get gigging again.
I love your lessons Damien I have your rockabilly guitar and jump blues guitar DVD and I'm just about through with both of them I also have your blues guitar DVD and why they say isn't going to get through that one too. Your lessons have really improve my playing. And I've loved Cliff Gallup with Gene Vincent for years, it's hard to pick a favorite solo, they're just all so great.
Thank you Damian for doing this video for us. We always look forward to whatever it is that you post. We know it's going to be good. Okay, I've long been partial to --- "Well, I knocked, Bim Bam" and also, "Who Slapped John."
Hey Damian, I dig all your vids and bought your Good Rockin' series. I'm having a ball learning those Bill Jennings and Gatemouth licks. But major Kudos for your 9 things to give up on this one. It's totally my philosophy and a great surprise on a guitar video. It says a lot about you as a man. Way to go!
Thank you for the comment. Glad you're digging the Jump Blues course. I really appreciate the support. It really means a lot to me. Stay Safe & Keep on Rockin' DAMIAN
Grate lesson Damian as always my all time favourite solo is from race with the devil.you'r really helping my playing thank you for sharing rock on mate
Damian your lesson are awesome and I get a lot out of them. You are an excellent teacher. Have you ever thought about doing a patroon page with some add paid content? I would be totally into that. I would love to see some lessons on how to move licks to different keys and some more rhythm lessons. Thanks for doing what you do.
Hi Jason. Thanks for checking out the lesson. Someday I may make a Patreon page. It's definitely something I have thought about doing. At the moment I'm focused on finishing my lesson plans for my next full length course on Jazz/Blues Guitar Solos & Rhythms. Stay Safe & Keep on Rockin' DAMIAN
Hello, Damian - I hope that you and your family are doing well. The Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps tune that really knocked my socks off (and still does to this very day) is "I Sure Miss You". Cliff Gallup's intervallic ideas are absolutely beautiful and his technique is jaw droppingly great. The playing approach and mood of this track is very similar to what Scotty Moore did on Elvis' great Sun-era track, "I'll Never Let You Go (Little Darling)". In addition, I can also hear a connection between Cliff's eighth-note comping and John Lennon's triplet strumming on The Beatles' "All My Loving".
Great lesson as always, thanks Damian! I actually really enjoyed Jeff Beck's tribute to Cliff Gallup, that record has some incredible guitar playing on it.
Love it. I have a couple of old Gretsch acoustics. An old '63 Rancher that looks like the one Gene Vincent played, except without the cherry bomb hole, '59 Syncromatic acoustic, & a 6120 from 1999. I had a Black Falcon but I got rid of it because I couldn't see the fret markers on a darkened stage :) That orange was brutal.
Go to Damian's site and buy Ultimate Rockabilly Guitar lesson DVD. I got it about three years ago and am still learning all the licks in there. It will probably keep me occupied for the next five years at least. It's huge.
Nice, Cliff Gallup is one of my favorites. If you wanted to do another one, I think "Bop Street" would be a good choice. There's some great bluesy licks at the beginning and end, and two solos.
Great lesson, as always, and I especially enjoyed the background info the beginning. There probably weren't too many guitarists who would cause a producer to turn to Grady Martin and tell him he wouldn't be needed that day. Thanks!
Sir, thank you for the lesson. Cliff Gallup is one of my favorite guitarist. I don't understand why he left music seeing he was so good. You have any idea? Thanks.
I believe he didn't really like being on the road and preferred just being at home with his family. That's just one of the reasons. I'm sure he had a few more. But as far as I know. I think he continued to play live music in his local area.
Gotta day it’s this one “Cruisin”. So damn cool. BUT. I was introduced into the world of Cliff Gallup & Eddie Cochran thru Mr Brian Setzer. So a title backwards, but that’s my story. Thank You DB. Keep Enjoying Life my friend 👍
Hi Cynthia. That's a great tune. Restless is one of my favorite Neo-Rockabilly bands. I'll write down your request in my request book. Stay Safe & Keep on Rockin' DAMIAN
Awesome !!! Probably watched it before w/o leaving a comment. This time I copied the Tab to put in a "Damian Bacci-Rockabilly" Binder. Time to review your entire "Ultimate Rockabilly Guitar " lessons. Enjoy the bits of wisdom and positive nature of your videos.
Cliff Gallup unquestionably was the great one, and Race With the Devil sets the standard for Blue Caps and rockabilly. I love that song, and have tried for two years to get the riffs down. But my second favorite GV/Blue Caps song is Baby Blue. Great harmonies, and Gene shines out. Johnny Meeks played guitar on that, and he really put a lot of blues and rock roots into it. Not the complexity of Cliff, and not really rockabilly, but still good stuff.
I agree. Baby Blue is another great classic by Gene and Johnny Meeks really shines on that track. Thanks for watching the lesson. Keep on Rockin' DAMIAN
Appreciate Gallup's playing but tbh not the biggest Gene Vincent fan , however 'Catman' though very simple to play is unique classic and the later Outlaws period 'Got catch me a rat' pretty cool too.
~~Blue Jean Bop~~ Bluejean baby, with your big blue eyes ... Don't want you looking at other guys ... Got to make you give me, one more chance ... I can't keep still, so baby let's dance!
Would you like to get together and play out? I play stand up and was on a rockabilly label. My main instrument is guitar. I’m in Sarasota. I slap and play upright and sing lead. Look forward to your response.
