@deteiser ROFL! That was me today. It was only my 2nd jump, TL2. Glad I had an instructor attached who saved us. Now I’m up at 1am watching skydiving exit and mistake videos with sweaty palms agonizing over my experience. Probably flipped for 2,000ft. After i deployed chute, my instructor said “sooo that exit was…interesting…” 😂
@@joshhart4931 oh for sure, it was my body position. It freaked me out enough to where I did a tunnel session before I returned and that helped form and confidence. At that stage it was hard for me to understand whether my body position made much of a difference when there is an instructor strapped to you. It’s so unnatural. I was so glad to begin going solo lol
You rock, Catherine! I have 60 jumps and every feeling and tought I had, you've done a video about it. You've been my home coach! Thank you from Argentina!
As a "bigger" guy I find I had to relax and barely arch during exit to remain stable. Outside of that, relax, smile and have fun! I got good enough on exits that I was working on 15-20 ways (single aircraft) by jump 100 or so.
Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane was my main problem. I wasn’t scared, just the opposite. The out, in, out, was at ease to me. When I would go out, I went out! They had trouble keeping me in the plane! 😊 AFF instructors eventually came around to my enthusiasm 😂😂😂😂
@@SkydiveVibes I had a lot of spinning issue since i used to arch really hard. And i was not stable at all at any moment. @@Pharmaster1985 I'm still working on improving my Arch, but one of my instructors made me try a different body position that changed my jumps completely. Hey Catherine, firstly thankyou for your videos, they are fantastic and I have learnt so much from them. Alot goes into making a video and I appreciate the hard work. I'm in Auckland NZ and have just (finally) passed my AFF!!!!! What an amazing feeling and confidence booster when u learn something in this sport hey! I am loving the dive exit at the moment.. quite possibly my fav part of the jump! And yup the key to a good exit is to relax and work with the relative wind 'the blast'. Cant wait to learn another one soon :) Cheers & blue skies Ali
20 jumps so far and only dive exits for me until I got to lead a 2 way exit from outside the plane on my last jump and we managed to stick it!! It still puts a huge smile on my face thinking about that jump, it was so exciting, I love this sport!! Thanks for yet another great upload Catherine....Blue Skies 🤙🏻
Hmm. I think there's a small misunderstanding of relative wind in this video. The wind speed experienced by the jumper at exit is exactly the airspeed of the aircraft, NOT the sum of headwind and airspeed. The _ground speed_ is airspeed _minus_ headwind (or plus tailwind). :)
I like the plane journey and I love skydiving but the bit in-between is still mentally difficult. I still get a bit of sensory overload followed by a few unhelpful leg kicks.
Great info, my first and only jump, 1985 in texas, primary, secondary jumpmaster and I all exit and do three loops befor pancaking out flat, its all good, do the routine lock in at 6k and a 5500 pull, then the fun starts. The pilot chute gets caught in the bubble and wont come out, after what seems to be an eternity, it finally popps out, chute deploys and I end up with a malfunction, the pilot chute comes thru the center of my lines underneith the canopy and out the back, bisecting my leading edge! I landed without injury,,,,, but man what a story to tell, I loved it but never went for another try.
Backflip exit! Facing the tail, step out with legs extended and arms extended down with palms facing the front of the plane, head looking up and back, and next thing you know your flipping like a gymnast.

For tall people like me 195cm, I think it's a little bit more difficult to make correct exits, small doors, possible to hit with the helmet the Airplane, I like to sit in the door hand on the knees and make a frontflip out, then lying on the back and watching the plane, control Altimeter, Arch and going stabil on the Belly ... But my Trainer said as well I must work on correct exits to jump with others ...
I'm 6'3 (191cm), so I feel your pain. I was worried about the diving exit on STP level 8 through such a small doorway when my instructor gave me the best advice. "This diveflow is all about instability. Just get out of the effin plane and get stable. Do that, and you pass." I dove out and have had some awesomely stable accordion exits since then.
