Bro my pawn is a thief, I styled after Brandon Lee's The Crow. Dudes an absolute savage. I was fighting a troll, the warrior I had hired, lunged at the thing and started to beat its face in, causeing it to reel back and tip off a cliff. Crow, without hesitation, leaped off and attempted to latch to it. Well, the cliff lead right to deep water, barely enough to stand in for a pawn, but for the troll, it had to go a little deeper. The warrior on the way down got flung in deep, dead. Crow, I s h i t you not, ran around the troll and antagonized it while wading in to deep water. It followed and the brine took them both. Never had so much fun playing a game in my life. I'm playing archer now, cant way to multiclass with thief for a proper assassin.

Not a lot of hand holding, no save time-traveling if you make a bad decision or someone dies. Even fast traveling has to be earned. It doesnt have a super linear focus, at least not in the way where the narritive is plotted out in a "A to B to C" format. For me it's one of those games that you say "okay, this is the game I'm concentrating on and let myself dive into the world". Which is kind of cool, in my opinion, it feels old school. This game and the 1st one are so good and unlike every other game out there. The non scripted stuff that happens and atmosphere it has is amazing. The game deserves so much praise as far as im concerned.
If you use formless feint the blades of pyre explosion won't hit you, making a high-risk -high reward just pure reward, while also being invulnerable to any other attacks while you are dealing insane damage
For smaller enemies my go to move is ensnare and then twin fangs. Instakill for most enemies. Ensnare is also amazing for pulling harpies out of the sky The upgraded version pulls enemies right to you instead of just down
Starting with a massive tip KhrazeGaming missed to mention from an otherwise great guide: You can combo Formless Faint with Blades of the Pyre to ignore the self damage, meaning that the skill that otherwise completely wrecks you and the enemy both, now only destroys the enemy. It's ridiculously strong, but of course eats your stamina like nothing else. Thief was the one I wanted to main since before the game released because Strider and Magick Archer (who could use a dagger) in the first game were really fun. I actually like almost every skill they have and I'm really happy they get some cool utility skills as well that you can flex into. Having access to some magic damage with the fire themed skills is a godsend. As soon as I got formless faint, I realized that no other class will be as fun probably.
Aiming for helm splitter for boss dmg and airborne enemies, concussive step for traversal and human enemies, powder charge for stagger, and formless feint for dmg mitigation as my end game skill choices. Seems like the best overall choices for every situation
Doesnt helm aplitter and powder charge kind of overwrite each other? I mean if u r putting a bomb in ur foe u r not stabing their fave right? Or do u actually use them both? What would be the 5th hability u think is best in case of not running those 2?
@chococo5252 helm splitter for boss dmg and reaching flying enemies, powder charge for staggeeing bosses and dmg while climbing. While they have a bit of overlap in both being dmg skills, their utility is different
Also, Yes. "Draw and Quarter" is absolutely usable on smaller enemies. Instead of pressing "Twin Fangs", Hold "Twin Fangs" to pin target to ground. From pin, use "Draw and Quarter". Profit. Super-Effective on Rattlers (Rock Saurians).
I'm worried warrior is falling into the same trap from the first game of being too slow and just not enough damage to justify. Strider was broken for the fact it could do it all, but thief seems to be all that minus having the bow. Sigh, hope I'm wrong but given two hours with the game so far and how familiar it's already feeling: I don't think I am.
Don't be worried bro, the hyper armor/stagger resist u get in warrior charge attacks are disgusting, and the damage is bonkers on some abilities, like legitimate half an armored ogres bar with one charged ability at lvl 18 hahaha

@dubblejumpchump yeah true, it's been a blast I just unlocked the mystic dualspear and it's fun but I do think the thief feels like the fastest class to dodge around. I really wish all classes could dodge roll tho kinda disappointed about that tho.
Im trying to stick to fighter and warrior for now since those were the only vocations that I haven't really played with back in DD1 but man they improved the archer and the thief on top of already being equivalent to their previous advanced vocations is making me want to go back lol.

I LOVED the Strider from the last game. But honestly, it was way too OP. Make it a Magic Archer and nothing can beat you! This is the best "Thief" class in a game ever. The explosivesband everything just works so well! I wish Diablo had this type of movement and fighting
Idk if anyone said, but something I like doing with shadow veil is using it before pulling enemies which makes it easier for my tank to provoke enemies. Haven't unlocked smoke bomb yet, but the downside of shadow viel is it prevents stamina from regenerating. So I just use it long enough that I don't have to worry about getting hit, then deactivate it
If you want ultimate thief / shadow walker(shadow Jutsu) build based on stamina and never get touched for the ult skill with blades of pyre , heres what ive been running: fighter, level 2, mettle , increased health Augment for Archer : endurance, level 4 archer , increased stamina Mage : Exaltation , level 9 , increases stamina recovery speed Warrior : vitality , level 1 , increased health Magic Archer : Voracity , level 4 , gain stamina with killing blow Warfarer: Zeal , level 6 , reduces stamina consumed on weapon skill This build is literal easy mode , the shadow jutsu skill is so OP
For blades of the pyre you can use ring of cooling to reduce the fire damage it does to you! You get the ring in the second room of the rouge guild place.
Wow! Thanks very much! I was getting REALLY frustrated with this game but now that I have formless faint (aka easy mode) and skull splitter (think that's the name - where you jump up in the air and spin) I'm making much better progress. I did play DD:DA and don't remember struggling like I was in DD2.
If your using blades of pyre you can just dodge the explosion you don’t even need to use formless feint. You can’t dodge through the explosion cuz it’s hit box is too large. But if you dodge left right or backwards you won’t light yourself on fire. Also the counter masterful kill or easy kill works on bosses and can delete health bars on them.
Been playing for 2 hours now and didn't even consider the Thief, but with the skills you've shown, I may be making a switch from Archer to Thief when I get back online.
If you have a formless feint active, you can use blades of the pyre and not take damage. And if you have the augment that gives you back stamina after each kill… you’re an invincible killing machine
Thank you for clarifying a concussive step , I thought it suppose to use as throw a bomb and flip back to evade enemy LOL ! Dogma 2 made thief so cool and crude !! not weak like other game
Daggers are my fav weapon type in every game, even when they're underpowered i still use them bc i love them that much. I do think the mystic spearhand is very entising though
Ensare's upgrade implicate is actually all-around-goodness. Speed of the frontline faster than your run? Work Smarter not harder. Implicate victims to you. Need to peel someone off your Mage or Back line? Implicste. Goblins forming a horde? Pull one off sides into your mosh pit. Repeat. Smashing. Mage chanting up a storm? Implicate them into some murder. Flat line that Mage. Got a melee? Implicate a mob through the crowd to knock over their locs like bowling pins. Need to soft CC a mob? Implicate leaves them laying prone or supine. Watch that archer curb stomp next to your stabbing twin fangs. Gang. Need to soft CC a larger mob? Implicate. Need to knock over a teetering, larger mob? Implicate is an option alongside RT Grab. Harpies nagging people to sleep? Implicate them into the dirt. Perforate. Honestly, i just wish that implicate could aslo be used to platform / grappling hook up cliffs. That feature is in real life, Tenchu, Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, Warframe, Super Smash Brothers, Zelda; you get the idea. It's a kaginawa, for crying out loud; kaginawa-jutsu is only half the game. Also, Some of those chests are jumping puzzles. Oh well, at least there's "Jump + Concussive Leap + Skull Splitter" for that. 'nough said.
I actually use my thief as primary tank for my group in endgame, I use the warrior passive for attracting attention and the ring of disfavor I think it's called. I run thief double sorc and mage everything gets deleted instantly LOL. Thief tank is so much fun take 0 damage, mystic spearman tank is fun too but ninja evasion tank is the best haha. Also if you enhance formless feint with wyrm crystals to use half stamina then equip the passive from Warfarer to use less stamina on skills. You can basically formless indefinitely.
I’m playing with a 1080, i7, 32GB RAM- it’s a little rough around the edges but absolutely playable. Just tweak the graphics settings until you find a good balance. FPS still drops in towns/cities
Couldn't imagine playing a game that allows you to climb on and wreck theses beasts, right in the middle of all the action, all the magick and spells going off all around you, and NOT doing it.
Myself I prefer playing as Sorcerer with my pawn that is also Sorcerer. It's so epic when we both cast 'Maelstrom' in sync with each other it just melts monsters like Ogre. Keep that in mind smaller monsters like packs of Goblins is nothing. It just lift's them in the air and they go flying around within the 'Maelstrom' when it ends they are no longer a problem.
Thief i started with and had a blast. i maxed it out and got 2 master skills. Then started archer and now im bored. In dd i played strider then magic archer. Sadly now its thief or magic archer you can't be multi class, wayfarer may scratch that itch i don't know, I haven't got that far yet. But i definitely was my main. i always liked haveing the option of magic and blades, didn't really utilize the staff because my main pawn was a mage, and the wepon buffs and healing were always my go two. sadly when i hired another mage they would always give me the wrong buff or overwrite one that was working to one that made it worse. I like the pawns in dd2 they seem a lot more alive and alot of times can lead you where you need to go, which is awesome. This way sir, it's not very far 30 mins later lol. I thought it wasn't far. Had a tank jump over a brokwn bridge and fell into the brine. I was hesitant until one of my pawns jumped it and made it so i tried and made it but then my leader was gone and i had to find anothwr pawn. I also like finding my level pawns that you can summon for no cost that i always take because its always worth it to me anyways.
So I started as Thief, having a blast with it, since I was an assassin in DD1 to lvl 200. Unfortunately I want to lvl archer for its augments it has some stamina and lethality. Unfortunately I feel the archer is really underwhelming, does not a lot of damage at all, and i feel slow.
QUESTION i didnt play the first one I saw a teickster class and as far as i can tell its the closest thing to a necromancer Is this true? No necromancer? If so thats ok. But follow up question is there stealth in this game? I saw an archer class as well and now learned of the thief. So can i be say a stealthy archer mage? Or is this game about more combat magic and melee? Again thats fine but i just want to know so whenever i pick this up I know what to play as
Trickster is basically: make your ennemies believe what you want. You charm them with your attack and then can make them follow your plan to say so. You can basically force them to kill eachother, make them believe that there's a bridge while there are no bridge and they just fall to death, or just block them with unnexistent walls while your team murder them, tested it and it's quite fun. As for the stealth, it kinda suck but the game wasn't about that in the first place. even tho, you could try
Try both. You can get core skills from one vocation that you can use in another to do a more custom build. Archer gets more stamina which is great to have on the Thief later on.
@@MeldinX2 honestly having fun popping between them here and there as I go to town lol it's like Archer range is amazing and I love the feel but thief also has executes sooo
Ibhavent been able to pull off the Helm Splitter to grab maneuver, any tips to pulling it off? When I try I just fall right through. Do I need an upgrade?

Mage : Exaltation , level 9 , increases stamina recovery speed
Warrior : vitality , level 1 , increased health
Magic Archer : Voracity , level 4 , gain stamina with killing blow
Warfarer: Zeal , level 6 , reduces stamina consumed on weapon skill
This build is literal easy mode , the shadow jutsu skill is so OP
everytime i find a class i wanna use...BOOOM! I SEE ANOTHER ONE...jesus. LOL
For blades of the pyre you can use ring of cooling to reduce the fire damage it does to you! You get the ring in the second room of the rouge guild place.
Or Just use formless
@DarkElevenLabs yeah fren
Wow! Thanks very much! I was getting REALLY frustrated with this game but now that I have formless faint (aka easy mode) and skull splitter (think that's the name - where you jump up in the air and spin) I'm making much better progress. I did play DD:DA and don't remember struggling like I was in DD2.
cast formless faint before casting blades of pyre. you won't take the recoil damage. its broken AF
Just did the same thing got some archer augments and now playing thief and it’s so good
If you have a formless feint active, you can use blades of the pyre and not take damage.
I totally used your MainPawn in my party today!!
What’s the ideal height/weight for thieves??
More stamina so I would say short and skinny
I was not planning to play Thief (at least not this early) but holy damn, they look SMOOTH
'nough said.
wow, the thief has a lot of deadly and useful skill. like ensnare tripping large enemies looks like fun ahaha
Tried archer ,tried mage, then gave a thief a go ,most fun ive had !
thief, magick archer, and magic spearman. All S rank classes, so OP
PRO TIP:
Use FORMLESS FEINT before using BLADES OF PYRE and take 0 damage.
BOMBS AWAY
Was looking for this 👊🏾
Playing an archer, best archer I have played in a game that I can remember.
Archer is good fun but I kept getting clapped
@@thevoicewithin9845 the sprint attack and the sprint jump attack on archer is a really good way to dodge attacks while keeping up the damage.
You can use “blades of the pyre” with “formless faint” on so you dont get damage
So, what are the best all purpose four skills to have? Formless Feint, Skukk Splitter, Concussive Step and Powder Blast??
Formless Feint, Blades of Pyre, Skull Splitter, and a flex (I use Implicate, but others like Smokescreen, concussive step, or powder keg)
@@22CMack Yeah, this is definitely the way to go. But I wonder which skill is best to "upgrade" so that it consumes half stamina. BotP, perhaps?
Thief dodging mid-air with formless feint is just God tier its just insane 😁
Thief looks so fun, I'm most excited for this vocation and mystic spearhand
Bought the game last night just because I saw u can make guts. Now after seeing this idk if I want to be a warrior. Theif looks insanely cool.
I would always play with these dual blades and then also with magic archer
This game feels like final fantasy and dark souls had a baby! Such a great game!
Started off as fighter and switched to thief, SO MUCH QUICKER. You can attack faster and hit as hard while jumping all over the place!
Yup definitely earned a like and sub
U can’t stop playing this game I don’t want it to end
Tip if you use fomless faint before you use blades or fire you dont take damage
"Formless Feint of course being the strongest ability in the entire game" Oh boy, just wait till you use Mystic Spearhand's party wide shield lol.
strider/assassin was my thing in DD1, so i started with this.. now its hard to try anything else :x
Pro tip: Formless blade active and then spam blades of the pyre. Watch everything die.
can someone answer if 8700k and 1080ti is good enough to make it playable
I’m playing with a 1080, i7, 32GB RAM- it’s a little rough around the edges but absolutely playable. Just tweak the graphics settings until you find a good balance. FPS still drops in towns/cities
@@rhamer03 ❤👍
How do you get the pd layout buttons? I disabled steam input but still always get the xbox layout
I play on ps5 :P
@@Khrazegaming Oh that makes sense :)
Subtlety seams like a great Augment for Mages and Sorcerers.
@KhrazeGaming the best aspect of formless faint is that if activated you don't get damage from blades of pyre :D
Couldn't imagine playing a game that allows you to climb on and wreck theses beasts, right in the middle of all the action, all the magick and spells going off all around you, and NOT doing it.
it's very satisfying. Try it. The powdered blast especially is so satisfying
@@KhrazegamingI hear ya, done it in DD1 def doing it in DD2..thx
The feint skill works with the pyer one as well so you won’t burn your self
Myself I prefer playing as Sorcerer with my pawn that is also Sorcerer.
It's so epic when we both cast 'Maelstrom' in sync with each other it just melts monsters like Ogre.
Keep that in mind smaller monsters like packs of Goblins is nothing. It just lift's them in the air and they go flying around within the 'Maelstrom' when it ends they are no longer a problem.
Hello. Where did you find Gorechimera before endgame ?
My pawn thief just punching the air the whole time 🗿
Out here making art for youtube
Combining the Blade of the Pyre skill and the Formless Faint skill can be incredibly powerful😂
could you make a guide like this for other vocations? Id love an archer one
yep, archer is my second most played :D
how many hours is the game?
An average play through is rated take about 30-35 hours (main quest line and a couple side quests)
If your going for 100%, easily over 70+ hours
It's crazy, when I pick thief character now everyone is doing it 😂 Glad I started the trend 📈
Formless feint is literally ultra instinct from dragon ball it’s so cool
Have you tried an all thief team? Im gonna try it out tonight....watch enemi3s literally disintegrate lol
2 thief one sorcerer for heals .
2x thieves wrecks. Get a tank (fighter) and a mage(heals) and it's gg
QUESTION
i didnt play the first one
I saw a teickster class and as far as i can tell its the closest thing to a necromancer
Is this true?
I seriously cant decide between archer and thief they are both just so good
I totally agree, I created a archer however I may switch to thief due to not playing the vocation in the first game.
You can change between classes
Do I need an upgrade?
does this one have the stat min/max like the first game? having to play 100 levels of archer ect.
Use the blades of pyre after activating the formless feint and it will no longer hurt yourself while dealing tremendous damage to the enemy. You’re welcome.
Used thief in the last game too. But I like it a lot more in this one. Don’t see myself switching vocations until my second play-through
There is no thief in the first game lmaooo
How come once I had the legends opus it wouldn’t let me use it. Is it because I haven’t changed my vocation to a thief?
If you use formless feint and then use blades of the pyre you don't take the burn damage
I started as a Thief to get some Stamina points but switched to Mage.
