Thanks for your kind word. I am really happy with the combination of guitars, pedals and amps that I have for the time being. I agree about simplicity. It helps to keep it at a bare minimum - but than again, what is that...😉 Cheers.
Maybe it's just because I'm more partial to Grecos, but I'm impressed every time you use it in a video. It (imho) seems to capture the essence of what you want in a Les Paul. Including the weight. I love Tokais as well, so it's not a surprise that their pickups sound really good in your Greco.
Hi, I think you are right about the weight. I can almost hear and feel that it is a solid body and has a substantial mass. It does something to the tone for sure. I've had the same experience with some CustomShop guitars. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Much appreciated 😊 Cheers.
I totally get what you said about the careful playing with the high treble response. I have a les paul with some t-top style pups and it is very difficult to play clean with a pick. A bit more force on the first two strings and it's already ear-piercing. I'm gonna try some PAFs in this guitar soon, see how it changes things.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Would be interesting to hear what you think if you end up trying PAF pickups in your guitar. All the best, Thor
Hi Thor, both guitars sound great but for me the Greco is just sweeter. I have A2's in my Replica and I use the same kind of gain as you and they are just so much "easier" to play because I also find the A5 spike annoying. When I bend a note up to pitch they just sing sweetly. If I played heavier gain then it might be different because the A5's punch better in that setting. Great playing and feel as always my friend. Life got in the way but I'm back and playing again.
Brian, so good to see you 😊I think what you describe about the different magnets are what I experienced bringing the Epiphone to the band rehearsal. It worked very well in that setting, and I think the frequencies was just right for the kind of band I play in with a keyboard, bassist and drummer in addition to my guitar and vocals. I didn't find I needed to tame the higher tones from the Burstbucker Pro pickups as much as when I play it at home. Thanks for your kind words. All the best my friend.
Hi Thor, great video! Indeed, that was the reason I swapped the BB Pro for the Seymour Duncan Antiquity. I use the pick and I am used to dig in so they weren´t for me. I am curios about the reasons why Gibson started having the BB Pro in the chambered Les Paul's, maybe they were targeting players within a specific genre? By the way, that Greco guitar of yours has a nice warm tone and sounds very musical, I like it a lot, again congrats for a beautiful guitar.
Hi Marcello, thanks for stopping by 😊 I have heard many say they like the Burstbucker Pros, so I guess as you say, it has to do with genre and preference. Thank you.
Hi, thank you 😊 It is a chord progression I was trying out to possibly use for a new song. If you want to try it out it is: | Bbmaj7 | Cm7 - Dm7 | Cm9 | F9 | From there I just moved on to some impromptu playing. Good luck, I hope you figure it out and can have some fun with it. Cheers.
This has me sooo confused. I just bought a fujigen made 1990 Greco EG-59-60 sunburst. The pickups inside of the 60s line are Fujigen Screamin’ pickups and they are ceramic and by far the brightest, glassy, piercing pickup I’ve ever heard.. it literally f’n screams. Maybe you have an EG-59-70 with the double trick alnico pickups.. go back and forth on whether I want to keep the Screamin pickups in this guitar but I don’t think I’ll ever fully get used to them because that bright sound isn’t a good pair with my jcm900.. my Gibson Les Paul studio 06 with 300k pots and a 498t seems to work so much better/much warmer. I wonder if I just have a bad apple because even throwing an alnico 2 magnet didn’t help the pickup get warmer… must be how it’s wound
Hi, I think Greco made a lot of variations of pickups. My Greco is made at the Tokai factory. I have a video (th-cam.com/video/k0JxoZ5x3jI/w-d-xo.html) where I talk about what I found out about this guitar and also about the pickups. I find the ones in my guitar to be very warm and vintage PAF sounding. Have you tried the guitar with a different kind of amp to see if the glassiness is still present?
And yes it is present no matter what amp I use it on.. I plan on swapping it for a dimarzio super distortion.. funny because all the Greco elitist on the Facebook page will say the fujigen mint collection models from these exact same years are miles ahead of the Korean ones and still a bit more spec’d out than the Tokai made ones.. but your pickup sounds much better. Beautiful guitar
The pickups on this guitar are quite manageable on a 6505+ but I just switched over to a jcm900 and it’s already a thinner amp.. definitely needs some more low end
Another fantastic video. I'm glad you're doing well, Thor.
The epiphone sounds sharper and brighter to me. The Greco sounds warmer. Both sets are lovely sounding in your hands I must say.
You are describing what I hear as well. Thank you for your kind words.
Exquisite tones and playing... I love your rig! There is something to be said for 'simplicity' 😄 thank you for a nice sonic treat!

Lovely chords/tone/touch!!!
Thank you 😊
Warren Haynes play Burstbucker pickups and it's going very well.

Hey Thor - I love your Greco, because I’m playing a Epiphone with 57‘ Pickups. Great sounding are both guitars when you play with your Style😉🎸😎🎼
Hi Uli, thank you. I bet your Epiphone sounds great. The '57s are good pickups. Cheers.

Greco all day long!

What is the Intro Song? Any proposal how to learn these chord progressions. Sounds so nice

i think with you playing, any pickup will sound great lol
You're too kind 😊
Burstbuckers sound better
