Hashim Alark is a US Navy Veteran that goes by the name "OfficialShim" or "Shim". He is most known for his military content and motivational approach to life.
I entered boot camp in '69 & sort of knew what to expect with community showers which I was already accustomed to in school. What bothered me is there were no doors or curtains at each toilet stall & they were all situated directly across from sinks with mirrors. So I've learned to take dumps at night so I could have some privacy. I've also learned that everyone has their own definition of cleanliness & hygiene, so I would clean areas around sinks I'd use to shave & brush my teeth with bleach & water or Lysol before use. Shower shoes are a must. I took a shower one time without them & couldn't wear shoes (white socks only) for a week because of severe athlete's feet. I still wear shower shoes today, even in my own home. Heads & bathrooms is where body waste is left behind making it one of the filthiest areas in living spaces.

The ship I was on, I’ve never seen poop or piss in the shower. That’s different. I was in during the last few years of Don’t Ask don’t Tell policy.

My Advice: Apply everything you learn in boot-camp to the fleet, not everything will apply but it will give you structure that will set you up for success. And find a mentor. Life on a ship is hard not so much the work but the people. Find guys like Shim on the ship. Stay disciplined cause youll have days with 0 motivation.
Got another memory after this vid. I had the berthing head up on the 01 level, right above shop 5 (my shop). But as far as droppin' a deuce naaaah.. best one for that was the one on the 2nd deck, where you could jump right down to it from the hangar deck after getting out of the tunnel. It also was one of the designated smoking heads, so all that smoke masked the nasty stink of the crappers next to where all the ashtrays (coffee cans) were. Nothing like smelling everyone else's ass hahahha .. not for me LOL! Ahh, good ole GW daze.

We use to have a dude who would be buck ass naked in the berthing after taking a shower with the towel round his shoulders too.!!! Make things worse his rack was right by the door you walk in the berthing and bruh would be right there just looking at you like nothing was wrong😂😂 just goes to show every ship got at least one

If someone has problems looking at someone else naked in a locker room etc, they have more issues going on then the bare ass naked person. It's just a nude body, with parts you also have, what's the big deal.

I was in the Marines and I would be on sea duty when I went in the head to take a shower, I had a spay bottle of bleach because sailors are some nasty unsat people.
