You’re probably already doing this: check your oil level regularly for high consumption. There’s a manufacturer recall affecting the Tigershark engine on the Dodge 200, and the PMC. I don’t remember the maximum quantity rate, but if you’re exceeding it, it’s an engine replacement, free of charge.
I’ve got a 2015 PMC with over 100,000 miles and no issues with the engine. It runs well, and I get over 30 mpg highway.
Seats are comfy, I’ve done numerous 1000 mile+ trips with it.

You don’t get over 30 mpg on the highway, don’t lie, that or you’re bad at maths and drive around with an empty van

Discontinued vehicle in the USA. Good luck getting vehicle repairs after a collison. Progressive Insurance just writes you a check for a total loss. Parts can’t be found for this vehicle anymore.
That’s what happened to me at least.
Twice in one month went in for service to not only replace 3 engine mounts but also rear shocks and other little things here and there under the hood. (taking advantage of B2B warranty)... So really depends.

Can’t find anymore new versions of these since last summer 2023 I believe. I test drove these years ago. I should have bought one for $20,000 brand new!!!!! Yes $20,000!!!! I wanted to pay off my current vehicle Jeep Renegade which shares the same engine and transmission. I heard about “oil consumption” but I change my oil every 3000 miles. I only have a little over 50,000 miles on my renegade currently in 2024. I saw a used promaster city that had about 279,000!! Lol wow. It has the ability to go that long apparently. They are even selling it for $6000. I need this van for daily use. My visits to the store like Walmart and sams club. My renegade has room but I really could use unlimited space and easy cleaning too. Sliding doors etc. I saw one used for $35,000 and it has 6000 miles. Even used they are expensive here with low miles. Smh.

I bought a new 2018 in 2019 had 5 miles on it. For $21,000. No issues. They put out recall on the oil issue, got mine tested. No issues. I know someone who had the same truck and failed oil test. The dealership replaced the engine.
Can the transmission fluid be changed ?
Supposedly no. Dealer mechanics won’t do it. But all transmissions need oil changed eventually. Try an independent mechanic. People on TH-cam made videos doing it themselves. I have a Jeep Renegade with this same engine and transmission.
Anyone have this van? How’s it be so far? Looking at a 2015 with 95km but want to know what I’m getting into first before buying it?

I have a 2015 SLT Wagon version and it's been a good vehicle for me. No major issues at all. I love it because I can haul my mountain bike inside. It drives nice, comfy, and I don't have the oil consumption issue that some people have
Can it be a carpet cleaning van?
It’s an empty van.. you can use it to haul dead people.. it won’t ask questions.
@WillandRambo lol, carpet cleaning has alot of equipment, heavy equipment.
I think it has the best load rating in its class, around 1800lb. The regular Promaster would be better but this seems to do well for its size.
So the concern is this: when in 2020 was it built? Obviously the components should be good. But if it was built during late 2020, labor training and QC would be suspect. Likewise, I would not buy a vehicle made in 2021, as the labor/QC affects not just the vehicle assembly but the components too. Be aware that decades of accumulated knowledge was being wiped out on the assembly lines due to Covid and hastily replaced by on the job trained workers.

It’s an American vechile, quality control is always an issue no matter when it was built.
POS. Worst vehicle I've ever owned. Bought brand new. Burned 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles, which RAM says is acceptable. Holds less than 5 qts, oil change interval is 8000 miles...that math doesn't add up. Despite adding oil to keep at the proper level, the engine DIED at 57,000 miles. The dealership had to replace half the engine at zero charge, ONLY because of a class action lawsuit settlement that extended the warrantee. No "cost," but a month of downtime for my business for the repair. After the repair, it still burns a qt of oil every 1000 miles. DO NOT BUY.

@@WillandRambo Considering that the class action lawsuit was because of this exact issue with the engine, I don't think I'm that unlucky. Not isolated to Promaster City either, as they put this engine in several Jeep models as well, and the same oil consumption issues have been reported.
Something everyone needs to know, THIS VAN IS UTTER GARBAGE IN THE SNOW, even with snow tires. Sits and spins

I put snow tires on and have no problem and I live in a snow belt in central Ontario. Just as good as any other front drive vehicle
