"You Are My Own Creation, I demand you to Stop" *Lady Lucktopus laughs* "That sounded so much cooler when Sasha said it" To Be Fair Raz, It didn't go any better for him when He said it.
This game really does twists perfectly. The two major twists in this game, namely Lucrecia being Nona and Truman actually be Nick, are done so perfectly and fit so well into the story. They don't change anything about previous lore, they just add onto it and provide new context. It's the kind of twists I'd expect more from shows, twists that actually make sense narratively and not just for "OOOOH BETCHA DIDN'T SEE THAT COMIN DID YA".
Plus, they hint to those things throughout the story! While I didn’t see many hints towards Nona being Lucrecia, there were quite a couple of hints that Nick was actually Truman. Some things that seem to be just silly oddities in the game turn out to be awesome foreshadowing in later parts.
The fake memory stuff was maybe a little too out of nowhere scifi stuff for me. I think it would’ve been more emotional for me if Raz’s dad as a small child would’ve mistaken her aunt for her mother after living a few years in an orphanage and Lucrecia would’ve just accepted this role because of her guilt. It would’ve required some other changes to the story, but I think it woul’ve given the ending a more grounded, relatable vibe with a stronger theme of self-deception and forgiveness.
If they ever get the chance to make a Psychonauts 3, I hope the main villain in that one isn’t just some old past trauma, but a living embodiment of one’s mental disease. Something you’re stuck dealing with constantly for life. A being that boasts that since it’s host could never overcome it, no psychonauts ever could. It would be an interesting challenge for Raz of both his abilities and his character, and it would introduce the concept on how psychonauts deal with a mental demon that can never truly goes away, be forgotten or pushed away so easily, and is always on the attack, never stopping. I can only imagine the solutions the veterans would have would not be in good taste.
Raz explicitly calls Maligula out as the part of her that lusts for violence and destruction, an "overgrown" part of a person's mind. I think Maligula represents exactly the kind of mental illness you're talking about - she's a violent psychopath who doesn't even care that she murdered her sister. Ford's solution to the problem was not in good taste, he lobotimized Lucy. Maligula was never gone, just locked behind that psychic vault, pounding on it over and over until she was let free.
Ol' Father Time, Master of mental degeneracy. also, obsidia, i think they meant more "Mental degeneration brought by time" rather than "abnormal damaging of the mind, causing mania of many degrees"

Raz rescuing Helmut’s body in the now frozen wasteland that was once Grulovia, while fighting off Gristol’s cult followers, and their plan to steal the psychonauts brains, in order to render them useless as an act of revenge. Which causes everyone to swap minds with each other. So now Raz must hop to one mind after the other in order to get his and everyone else’s body back where they belong. Plot 2. Raz enters the mind of Otto, and learns that he has a dark side. How he always wanted a kid of his own, and decides to make a child size robot with the brain of a deceased psychic. Unfortunately this plan backfires, when the kid robot decides to rebel against his father inventor and seeks out the arsonist that burned down Mila’s orphanage. Think of it as the psychonauts equivalent to Pinocchio. Plot 3. Raz has to deal with an anti-psychic archaeologists based off of HP Lovecraft, and goes inside his literal closed mind. The story would be based off of some H.P lovecraft stories like Call of Cthulhu, call of azathoth, cool air, and rats in the wall. Plot 4. A Freddy Kruger type of Psychic is going around causing mayhem in everyone’s dreams and they must figure out who this person is. Plot 5. A plot similar to the movie paprika. Where the mental world and reality begin to merge, creating a world called Psycho wonderland. Plot 6. Raz meets a group of Psychic’s called The Mortonauts, they’re psychonauts only that they can communicate with the dead.
I feeling the game should've started with the scene of Raz in the fake office. It felt like they were going for a twist where you think he's working for the Psychonauts, but he's really in Loboto's mind. I like the recap, but it kind of undercuts this.

I love the theme for the fight against the Goats, but... god, the only thing you find when you look up the soundtrack to this game right now is Hellmut's song. VERY good, still, but I'm excited for some time to pass so the OST is out there.

I like how this game was more marketed towards both children and adults alike. Adults returning for the second game, and children who saw all the colors and heard the sounds and were like “I need it!” I really do like it was marketed towards children more though cause I feel like a lot of kids would actually enjoy this game and learn a few things about mental health and stuff

Actually, the first phase is a bit difficult. Maligula’s attacks can take away whole brains worth of mental health. I have had to use nearly all of my psi pops because of it.
