Improves your mood by 100 % - write novels like this, keep track of your progress - it makes you see all the stuff you’ve learned Also, another thing: the “believe in yourself” is bullshit - no-one believes in themselves until they gradually get more and more “achievements” and things done that they’re proud of, and even then, especially musicians are usually very hard critics of their own work, and still don’t “believe in themselves”. But that being said - yes, you can do it. You just have to keep going! My weird musical history: I had played the drums in a band for 8 years, and without any experience of making music, I guess playing was in many ways so close to making music that I had initially thought that it was “what I always wanted”, even though I also had this ever growing lingering feeling of "...this just doesn't feel right sometimes, I dunno, something's not right". So, 20 months ago, I finally found my balls and started making music from scratch, literally by asking my friend "can I make the soundtrack for the game you're making?" It's kinda crazy - I decided to throw an impossible challenge at myself, and here I am now, making a soundtrack while I finished my bachelor's degree and have been all the while now studying at my master's, both degrees unrelated to music. I’m happy to say, it’s progressing well, but man…. it's been wild! And the best times of my life yet. The first song I mastered using also iZotope, and I had to master it in 2 parts because TDR Kotelnikov, TDR Nova and iZotope ate so much of my CPU :D I split the effects chain to 2 parts, nailed the first half, exported and brought back for mastering the latter half. I learned synthesis, mixing, mastering, signal processing, distortion and other basic stuff gradually, and taught myself sytrus too. Although, honestly, especially the latest additions to FLEX (free) are pretty damn amazing, and Vital exists too. You seriously don’t have to buy a ton of expensive shit to sound great, if you just learn the stuff (I’m only starting, or that’s how it always feels like). FL’s sytrus, FLEX, directwave sample instruments, Maximus, and free plugins like coral baxter, tdr Nova, tdr Kotelnikov, HeadCrusher (amazing‼), bitterwseet, Valhalla supermassive etc. get you pretty much where ever you wanna go. But yeah…. serum and omnisphere are darn amazing, though. Getting frustrated and mad while having to study and work while all I'd like to do is make music is at least a good sign of "actually wanting" to make music. It happens to me all the time. its actually my hobby, if I don't feel doing music, I grab my favorite VSTs and mess around and also do something different, to grab inspirations for example watching a movie, video, streams or series. I sometimes step back from projects for weeks and when I open my DAW, i check what I can change or overwork in other projects without stressing myself. I never give myself deadlines, because if I work on deadlines, I mess things up and can't focus about fun stuff.

What I've realized in music production is the fact that creative time needs a different mindset and approach than polishing or mixing time. Just sit down and listen the track again next day or at least some hours after use to work. As artists what we actually need is keep ourselves inspired making music and having fun, then we can be authentic and happier rather than get engaged in a frustrating, boring and unnecessary copycat process. And don't be afraid at all to add some of the magic of Ghosthack !!. These guys are brilliant people :)
Recently started out with FL Studio. Learning stuff, experimenting...then I focused on a melodic Dubstep song because I saw this awesome Ghosthack video :D...it kinda went good, got a nice drop and then...pff..nothing...no idea how to proceed.....few days later I opened up and old project file (where I copied a sound Eliminate has made :P) and with this sound, I made such an awesome drop imo which I could repeat over and over again :D Hopefuly I'm able to create a full song out of it!
I respect what you said about letting go of the rules and just being creative. I REALLY like that. Unfortunately for me I get lost in the creation process as well. Like what waveforms should I use for what sounds in particular. That really slows down my creative process and I end up not getting it done the way I want it. But cool video really , I really like this approach
i found that for me... if i cant create a certain day... i automatically just make new sounds (which btw will give u inspiration on their own) and yeh... the next time youll get plenty of your own sounds to use
to sum it up you could say do what works and feels right, dont try to achieve THAT PERFECT track you have in mind when youre trying to have fun. another tip i can give is giving yourself a deadline so you dont end up asking the "what if" questions (what if this could sound 10% better after changing it around for 2 hours), often times novelty tricks you - listening to your project over and over again and then comparing it to something else will make the other track sound better. i managed to produce and upload my last track within one week of production, struggling with another one im working on since almost a year tho because i want to create a very specific mood. Doing those fast and fun projects will also teach you alot more than messing around in a giantic poject you dont really wanna touch^^

Sounds like REZZ :), also this is true. Whenever I open my DAW, I don't think about the genre of what I'm gonna make (save a few); at times my head says hip hop but I ended up making a dubstep track. Whatever genre(s) I end up making, that'll be defined after I finished. Genre doesn't matter really
The only song I've ever done that's not done as me just doing what I want, is the commission I'm doing at the minute. But this is a learning process too so it's interesting :)
I only make music to have fun and I generally just go go with the flow. I like to make audio samples of things I've created just in case I can use it in a track down the road
