What would you want a red light for? I appreciate options but I just don’t know what I’d use it for

One reason is to reduce your light signature to others in the dark. Another reason is to maintain your night vision slightly better. A third reason is that it may not reflect against ice and other similar surfaces if you want to avoid blinding yourself.
