Which part of the soul is it, though? There are 4 parts.
My guess is direction, if that ended up in the knife the rest of it could have found its way there eventually too.

I finally figured it out, its not that Kratos is op, its the gods are nerfed, from the greek gods, atlas held the sky but only held greece, and a zeus bolt destroyed entire mountains and cities but only destroyed mere buildings, he also had the power to take ones power at will, so i assume the gods are gonna be nerfed here as well

i like how thor had the entrance of a god, showing his skills and power. While odin entered as a ordinary man because everyone knows his power is far greater
odin is not as powerful in terms of combat as thor.

Don't get fooled by difficulty even when he changes to no mercy I think he has a bug because difficulty remained the same but I am playing on no mercy and telling you on 3-4 hits you are dead.
