    Well, this certainly is new! A surprise to be sure! Ultimate Warrior was one of my favourite wrestlers. While sprinting to the ring, Warrior brought a distinct intensity, one that carried over into his matches (e.g., Gorilla Press Slam, followed by a Giant Splash for the 1, 2, 3). The figure reviewed here depicts Warrior as seen in his WrestleMania VII attire. He wrestled the Macho King (‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage, that is) in what was billed as a “Retirement Match”. Warrior was also known for changing his attire quite often; I mainly remember him for his robust, bright neon colour scheme - it really made the Ultimate Warrior character pop whilst selling loads of merchandise. I still own a bunch of the old 1990s WWF figures made by Hasbro, including a few Warrior variants.
    Anthony, I must say that was another bloody excellent review. I realise that professional wrestling isn’t one of your interests; however, I would personally love to see more Mattel WWE action figure reviews from you in future. The pro-wrestling fanbase, immensely passionate, is massively popular, so I reckon you’ll see a healthy dose of new viewers on your channel if you decide to go that route and review more figures.
    Take care,
    Giovanni Marino, M.D.
    *Note: If anyone cares, that alternate Warrior head looks almost like All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Kenny Omega, another hugely popular pro wrestler.

    My favorite wrestler as a kid. I have this Warrior along with a bunch of others. Warrior often changed the colors of his face paint and wrestling attire. He started wearing awesome dusters later in his career. This particular attire is so well done. Very accurate to his Wrestlemania 7 attire. The green and orange attire you mentioned was his Classic Wrestlemania 6 attire when he won the World Title from Hulk Hogan

    I love your reviews, and I'm a wrestling collector, so seeing a more critical and fresh point of view is very refreshing. I held off on collecting Mattel wwe for so long because I thought their quality wasn't up to standard for me, I mostly collected neca. But i eventually dropped my standards a bit for them I feel.

  • @Twoaas

    I’m so glad you reviewed a wwe Mattel product finally. As a wrestling fan I truly believe we are part of a a fan base that will literally buy anything with wwe on it. And the worse part is, because Mattel knows that, and the wwe knows that, they will gouge the hell out of us and most of us don’t bat an eye unfortunately. The product they put it is quality too. It’s just ALWAYS over priced, if you get a chance look into the latest Mattel crowd fund. It’s utterly ridiculous!!

      I'd say though that compared to the last ML crowd funder, the Nitro Set did a little bit better than the Ride of Vengance

      @@joshuaperez441 oh ya I agree. The “engine of greed” was super ridiculous. The nitro stage was honestly I really awesome offering, but 400 bucks is wayyy too much - the price was legit the only issue IMO.

    • @joshuaperez441
      @joshuaperez441 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Twoaas for me, my main issue was the figure selection.
      A DDP in UE form of a gear that I think has been released twice,
      a Hulk Hogan with the only difference being the Belt not having the WWE logo
      a Warrior that we really weren't asking for
      And the only 2 legitimate stand outs of the set, was a first time in the line figure as well as ANOTHER rey mysterio in a year already filled with SO MANY REYs.
      The price was a problem, but people also forget that the selection wasn't great, but was far better than a half assed Mephisto and a dude with a pentagram on his chest

    Okay I was not expecting you to take a look at a wrestling figure, but I'm happy. Mattel has been on fire with their WWE output: collected them for almost a decade and Ultimates since the line started, they're bloody good figures!

    I used to customize wrestling figures, but I got burnt out and bored of them, and branched out into other figures, mainly Marvel Legends. I did grab an Ultimate Collection figure awhile ago to just test one out. I like the upper half of the figures, those are mostly new stuff. Speaking from my experience customizing though, the lower halves of the Ultimate Collection figures are largely reused molds, besides new feet with added toe joints. Beyond the feet, those legs on Warrior are molds that are a good decade old now, taken from existing Elite figures. Also since experiencing forward-facing pin ankle rocker joints, I cannot go back to those WWE Mattel Elite/Ultimate ankle rockers.

    Really appreciated this... some of the Ultimate Editions are worth their price, some aren't but I've found some as low as $10 at retail so not bad at all... Ultimate Warrior shouldn't have that much use for ankles given how he wrestled so it's not a big as a fail, would love if you checked out UE Shawn Michaels, John Cena, The Rock or RVD, as I think those are some of the better articulated, feature rich ones.
    I don't expect u to make this a series but I love anytime you try something new for the channel!

    Funny thing is, I just bought this figure, and thought once again how cool it would be to have you review a wrestling figure for once. And here we are. Excellent review as always, Anthony. That attire he wore at WrestleMania VII is timeless and one of my favorite entrance attires from Ultimate Warrior.
    They released this figure of Warrior before, under the Defining Moments line many years ago. Only difference is that the previous figure had the WWE Elite articulation. I like that Mattel released it as an Ultimate Edition. My only complaint is with the head sclupts. They're the same, except one has paint, and the other doesn't. I wish they included more heads for him. Otherwise, glad I finally have him in my collection. Now I wait for the upcoming release of Macho Man from that same WrestleMania match with Warrior.

    Wow... a wrestling figure review.
    The ankles on ALL their Elite and Ultimate Edition figures are ridiculously tight. Apply some heat and you should be able to move it back and fourth just fine.
    I think the wrestling figures have less going for them, paint wise, since they idea is that they'll be clashing together if kids play with them. Less paint, less scratching off said paint. Still, a little airbrushing on the skin would be nice, and I like how Mattel gives us $20, and $10 options that are in scale, and not too out of place with the rest of the line.
    They're a bit better than Hasbro IMHO.

    I'd bet U.Warrior was wearing this at some point of his 5 year run in WWE.

  • @graefx
    @graefx ปีที่แล้ว

    The WWE stuff is generally 1:10/7 inch scale. But more accurately "wrestling scale" that's just a legacy size going back to the early 00s if not earlier. Be interested to see your opinion on the $20 offerings (that usually on sale). Theres a ton of reuse but theres only so many sculpts you need for dudes in trunks. Still has more super hero proportions than most ML. What I like is that customizing is a breeze. Basically everything you can heat and pop is compatible so you can change the height, proportions, and gear. But compared to Marvel Legends, they're definitely intended to be more toys for rougher play.
    And if memory serves theres a green, orange, white gear Warrior.

    Try an WWE Elite Ultimate warrior so you can compare the price points. Ultimate Editions are usually just an upgrade in articulation and a couple more accessories. The reason why these still look so plastic and have less paint than most $30+ figs is, to some extent, they're still meant to be played with. The biggest market for wrestling figures is still kids. As for part re-use, they actually do it quite a lot, but they tend to pick the parts that work best for that particular athlete (usually), and it's definitely not as bad as Hasbro. Plus, they've done a LOT of Ultimate Warrior figures, so they pretty much have him down perfectly.

    Manliest? Possibly. Most likely to be canonically 'roided out? Only if you don't count Bane figures. Also the attire colors would always change for the Ultimate Warrior, because he always had his ring gear customized and air-brushed.
    Technically, this could count as a comic book figure as well, but DO NOT actually read the Warrior comics: they're written _by_ the Ultimate Warrior, and it's like three paragraphs of pretentious gibberish and made-up words on every _panel_ , all plastered over drawings from someone who understands human anatomy worse than Rob Liefeld. Also, the less said about the Christmas issue, the better.

    Now you’re going to get the “you should review an AEW figure” comments. Which you should do lol they’re decent figures with pretty decent range and depending on the wrestler the likeness is pretty good. Overall I’d say they have more playability than Mattel figures in my opinion.

    i was never into wrestling either but if you look up clips of ultimate warriors monologues or quick interviews, especially with macho man, his character is absolutely priceless. dude was out of his mind on steroids and blow and his rants he came up with was hilarious. but aside from it being hilarious, after watching a bunch, his character was pretty deep. I love this guy
    not sure if i can post links to another youtube vid, but this 1 min vid is highly worth your time th-cam.com/video/Ogz-f-vnb7k/w-d-xo.html
