Diane, i am enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing your tips. I like to use this underpainting method and paint my figures on with cold wax and oil paints. A bit challenging for figurative or landscape. But i like unclear soft edges for my expressive images. So, i keep trying and let it do its thing--just like you advice. ❤️
Oh gosh, I am such a fan of you and grateful for your videos and advice. Thank you for sharing your teachings. Last summer I enjoy creating art for my wellness business and both parents supported and encouraged me. I ended up getting a sander, beeswax, (the beeswax video is how I found you,) and ended up also doing some decoupage work! Granted I am new but, that didn't stop me from putting it up in a local store. Now that I've lost both parents over the winter and am coming up for air, I have opened up my own yoga studio-wellness shop in the Phoenix AZ area and will continue with the art. The studio is in the Arts district and I am super glad about all of this. Both of my parents said in their last months that I needed to "get out there," and now some 7 and 4 months after their passing, I will sign the lease. :) Thank you so very much I AN I studio!! I look forward to creating more, hopefully soon.
@@ianistudio OHmygosh!! YES, 1325 Grand Ave Phoenix, (the back building is actually 1344 Kinley. I will comment again with a link to the building, on the map page. My studio will be in the old hotel, the back of the Desert Sun Plaza. OH how awesome! I hope to be fully in by June's First Friday. :) Oh my gosh, even my mom watched your videos with and for me to offer help and guidance!! Edit to say: My items have been up in the student store in Tempe at Southwest Institute of Healing arts but, now I am taking it over to the "new" shop!
Wow...healing arts are awesome. I broke my ankle last night so will be out of comission for 6-8 weeks. We are teaching a workshop in Mancos CO July 18-22. Just a short drive for you. Check it out at www.ianiworkshops.com
I had started avoiding thicker papers for collage because of the bubbles, but I love your technique of wetting them and ripping them off. How did this turn out by the end of this painting? Did all the layers adhere well?
@kerryklaassen hi Kerry. Another technique for collaging with thick paper is wet the paper first. This really helps eliminate the bubbles. Adhere with gel medium for thicker paper, it's a thicker gel than the polymer medium. Yes, I like to work with the bubbles, wrinkles and sanding too, but sometimes you want to adhere the paper without bubbles. The painting turned out awesome and adhered fine!
