    Hope you’re in your boot and healing well! Be patient. ❤ Ice and elevation are key. My husband (64) had foot surgery and had the boot 7 weeks. Never had to do crutches. Yes he got sick of the boot, but stayed in it. 👍🏼 gradually dropped that after another 8-10 days. Now walking pretty well but has to watch how long he’s up and about and how far he walks. So just be patient with your ankle-think of how good it’s been to you all these years. 🥰 I like your videos and your style!

      I have not used cold wax with watercolor. I googled your question and many people do seal watercolor with cold wax. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I copied this from the internet: Whenever possible, we now wax our watercolors with Gamblin Cold Wax Medium. We first heard of this from renowned watercolorist Sarah Yeoman. At first, you may be reluctant to apply anything, much less wax, to the surface of a watercolor. Once you try it on a practice painting, you will be a convert.

    hello! I had an image printed directly on. a wood panel and I want to finish with cold wax. Do I need to add a leveling step before the cold wax? And how long does it take to harden so it would be ready to pack up after you buff it the last time? Thank you ! love your website

    • @ianistudio
      @ianistudio 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I might apply a layer of polymere mediums, and let it dry 72 hrs. Then a water based varnish with UVLS and let that dry 72 hrs. Then the cold wax layer, and let that dry approx 72 hrs after buffed. Cover the surface with glassine or wax paper before packing. You could try shortcuts by applying the wax directly to the print. As long as you cover the surface with glassine or wax paper you can pack it after 48-72 hrs.

    thank you for this beautiful video! i just wanted to ask you something for collages built up with "rice papers' and the isolation coat I apply before possibly waxing :-) I have the experience that any finishing/isolation coat I apply on rice papers soak in on some spots and on others not, which make it look like not everything is varnished, even if it is. Maybe you have some advice for a finishing coat on rice paper? so that i also can experiment with the cold wax medium. Thanks a lot in advance and sorry to disturb, Phil

    • @ianistudio
      @ianistudio 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, Phil. First, I do an isolation coat of polymere mediums. I thin it about 20-35% ( I use Golden polymere mediums). Let that dry 72 hrs. Then varnish with a UVLS varnish like Liquitex. Let that dry 72 hrs, then apply the cold wax medium. That should give you an even finish. Good luck, and let me know how it works.

I do have a question for you. I’m considering purchasing a gallon of primer from Home Depot I just don’t think I need to spend big dollarson what they call the Art store primer I’d like your opinion

    • @ianistudio
      @ianistudio 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used Home Depot primer for years and it worked well. The art store gesso is certainly more archival. It really depends on your level of selling. If you are selling your paintings for big bucks the collector deserves the better grade gesso. Otherwise, the hardware store primer will size your canvas and give you a fine surface.

    When I book my ankle I could not use the knee scooter due to the massive amount of NERVE pain associated with a broken ankle, (there are so many nerves, and such a small space and swelling is a dozie.) One thing I underestimated is how much this affected my same side hip, (from not using the ankle or doing leg movements it is still stiff years later and now I'm working on it.) Oh I am so sorry this happened to you. I also remember that it is such a slow, very slow healing. There is not "feeling better" in just a couple of weeks, it takes practically 12 full weeks to start to have that "feeling better" phase. I wish this phase to come to you quickly and for your swelling to be diminished. HUGS. Now I'm going to watch the rest of this video. YOU can get through this and I wonder what the result of this side track will blossom into!! I am edited: When someone saw me struggling to walk into a store, (definitely feeling the burden and questioning my own sense,) a lady said to me, "OH, I broke my ankle once too, I know, people do not understand what this does to you emotionally." It is SO very true, this particular break, affects our emotions. It looks so innocent, a foot in a cast BUT, the amount of pain and restriction in movement is so truly humbly and a bit emotionally crushing. You are not alone, many of us have hobbled in your casts also. It is hopefully a brief time yet, lean fully into the limited capacity, without guilt or shame... Maybe your spouse needed this opportunity to be the here. Remember also that regarding estrogen versus testosterone...Men will get exhausted from caregiving because it releases Oxytocin, (women love it, men feel like a Mack truck hit them.) I learned from the author of Men are from Mars, women from Venus, on his oxytocin studies... Men get rejuvenated feeling like the true hero they are. So, instead of saying thank you to him, try, "you are my hero!!" "I couldn't have done this without you!" "Thank you" "YOU ARE RIGHT!!! with any suggestion he says that you like!!" Trust this will help him rejuvenate and likely help you too, knowing that you are boosting him in a way that may not hav3 happened before. Typos left.

      Contemporary Oil Painting Medium Galkyd is an alkyd resin painting medium that increases the fluidity of oil colours and speeds their drying time. Thin layers of oil colours are dry in 24 hours. The viscosity of Galkyd is similar to traditional painting mediums made from linseed stand oil. Galkyd levels brush strokes, creates a strong flexible paint film and leaves an enamel like glossy finish. Galkyd is ready to use. Thins with odourless mineral spirits. Painters can add up to 50% by volume odourless mineral spirits to change the viscosity of Galkyd for glazing. Galkyds are excellent glazing mediums. Specifications

      Do you know if you can use cold wax to seal oil pastels?

      @@ladynsearch-of-art I have never tried it, but it sounds interesting. Let the oil pastel dry thoroughly first and let me know how it works.

    New to your channel. Love your natural presentation and subtle advice. I can gardly wait to wax an acrylic painting demonstrated in the first video I came across. That plastic surface is not inviting, though aspects of using acrylics are more suitable to me now. Thanks

      Did one yesterday and love the satin finish. Gooped up another this morning and forgot about it until now. Haha. Hand buffed but may get a palm sander as my old bod needs help sometimes.
