Had one of these 10 years ago and bought a new one for the new pool we installed this year. These are great for people who have back pain, are older, or are otherwise unable to lift a heavy tarp off their pool. They do a great job of filtering the water off the top. Never had a green pool.
That looks like it works well for the smaller oval like you have but i would be interested to see someone who has a 24ft or larger round and how it holds up especially for those that have tons of trees that drop leaves constantly all winter. To keep it stretched to the kind of tension necessary would probably mean a short lifespan on the cover and failure. It all depends on the cost as to whether its worth it.
I have a 28’ round and contemplating buying. As to the comment below, my pool water has never froze and I’m in New Jersey. So I don’t understand the it’s sitting on ice comment ?
@@michaelmonahan7268 I'm in Canada - the pool freezes solid every winter. I suppose if one had a lot of snow but warmer temps, the cover will pull down a few inches to the water surface level, thus the bungee cords. For a huge pool with plastic posts, I'm not sure if it would work as well. The clips might pull out.
@@michaelmonahan7268 I tried something last winter that worked out well. Just an idea if you have cinder blocks laying around. I drilled brackets into a 2by4…layed it on the ground and hooked bungees to it. Blocks can weigh it down. Didn’t budge and no tension on the pool braces.
I’m really digging mine. It stays tight in the wind and debris literally gets blown off. it doesn’t sag into the pool during rain and definitely doesn’t flap around like a tarp. My foam block did not fit easily. I had to shave it down and force it in. I will order another foam block before next season’s shutdown. Update: pool was crystal clear when I opened up in May 2021. I used this cover and a winterizing kit.. literally crystal clear. HOWEVER… this week was my second season using this. One sewn on strap already tore completely off. You dont need a cover other then a mesh leaf cover. Plug up the the skimmer opening, plug up the water return hole too. Take the leaf filled mesh cover off when the fall season is done approx mid Novemebr and voila. The top of the pool will freeze, the snow will gather on that and melt in the spring, drain the excess water level, shock the pool and move on to swim again. its that easy

Thanks for the video. I’m inquiring a new cover for next winter. This is my first winter with my 12x20 semi-in-ground pool and it’s such a pain in the a$$ to keep pumping water off of it all winter long. I see you opened the pool clear in the spring, but other reviews of these ‘mesh’ pool covers that allow water to drain into the pool water say the cover comes at a cost and the pool usually opens green. They followed up saying the trick is to close the pool late and open it early spring.
Hi can you tell me on your posts where you drilled the self tapping screws have you had any issues or anything with them holding up ? I just got a really nice cover for our 24ft pool and this would be a great idea.
How many years have you used it now? Any problems? The blue paint came off mine. If you go to uncover it some year and you see black streaks, just know that if you stir up the water at all it will end up in your filter and the particles are too small for my sand filter to catch. Best to vacuum to waste the three stripes.
Question, last year we got 7 feet of snow..how would this hold up to all that snow on top of the poo? That is my main concern that it would collapse the walls of the pool with the weight on this cover
I’m trying to figure out what size cover to order. How much larger is the actual cover than the size pool they are rated for? I may buy the 15x30 cover, but I assume it’s about 2-3ft larger to wrap around the sides?

It can't. There's a hole in the skimmer housing that acts as an overflow year round. But it does fill with snow. I've had 2 or 3 feet of snow piled on it most years.
