- June 2023- These are perhaps the coolest jeans I've ever seen. There's nothing quite like them out there, with the yokeless back in a 4-pocket design.

I love how minimal the yokeless back design is on these. Fantastic silhouette too.
Great, isn't it?! The minimalist aesthetic is underused these days I'm thinking....And as you said, the silhouette is incredible. Companies don't get enough cred for masterminding how the pattern/shape/fabric work together to great a nice silhouette - could easily look stupid if not done well.

these are very nice! Fabric flows great, I especially like the smooth fades from washing frequently. Taking away the yoke can sometimes look so odd on jeans imo, uncanny almost. but with these the cinch perfectly balances it out, really enjoy the look and the wider fit. They remind me some of my pair of 1940s swedish military "grötbyxor" fatigue pants. They have a very similar construction but with chino pockets. Im jealous of these!
The Swedish military pants you have sound incredible!….And yeah, this is truly a genius design. They have truly added to, not detracted from, the already impressive 1890 Levi design. Nothing like it, one of a kind.
Just to update this review - black sign makes the front pockets big/normal sized now. Just picked up a pair bc of this video.

@@thevintagefuture6567 I also own the Orgueil OR-1001 which have similar characteristics like back buckle, suspender buttons, rough and hairy denim but they are not so wide and straight like the Black Signs.

I have these in a size 30 they are currently my favorite pair of denim and you took the words right out of my mouth with them. They are great in everywhere except those tiny pockets, I have slim hands and even then I have trouble getting into those front pockets haha. But like your suggestion with using a jacket pocket for your wallet or phone I found that it works well for me to put my phone in my back pocket and put my wallet in one my jacket pocket. Your fades look awesome by the way! And a great video overall! I’m subbing to your channel for sure!

Oh dear, you and Jeff do wear them pretty low! My black pair are definitely worn high and I love it. Since the smallest size is still a bit big on me, I have to rock these with suspenders and they work well. I wish they didn't have belt loops, but that's ok.
Yours are awesome with suspenders! I’m just currently more modern with mine 😂 But I hear ya about the belt loops; that true vintage repro appeal is kinda ruined with the belt loops. There’s something cluttered about the belt loops, for that vintage look.

Hey man, I am back commenting on this great video. I was looking to grab myself a new size up in these, I have been bulking up and the crotch area on my pair are definitely pulling outwards now. Was curious about your weight, I am 155lbs as of right now but my hips are a bit big and my waist is a 30 now. Apparently the size 30 from black sign is actually a size 29 waist which is the current size I have right now. Is the 32 a true 32 waist?
Hey, I am so sorry I am getting to this late. I weigh between 165 and 170 pounds these days and have between a 31 and 32 inch waist just depending on weight fluctuation. My pair fits perfectly.

I'm in the process of bulking up, I saw Jeff the denim dentist on IG wears the size 34 (which is a waist size 32). First of all, sorry I misspoke - my waist is 33” 😄 Do you know your current waist circumference? Measured right at or above your pelvic bones.
Hey man, I measured my waist circumference to be about a 31 right above my pelvic bones. Still unsure if I should do the 32 or the 34. Standard and Strange says the 34 is a 32 actual waist from when I last checked their sizing chart and their size 32 is a size 30 waist hence my confusion with which next size to grab.@@thevintagefuture6567
Dude no worries on the long lag, I lagged to replying to this too! But guess what, today I got the size 32 in the mail, felt really small hoping I can exchange for the 34, I know Jeff rocks that size. But what’s interesting is the sizing seems so weird. For reference I am about 165 pounds 5’8, really small waist at the natural waist I am 30 1/2, about the hip bones a 31 but got them thick thighs and the fit was just so uncomfortably small, so I’m not sure how the 34 will fit me. Hi, where do you wear the waist of the jeans (i.e. at the hips or above them)? I know these vocalions are high rise (apparently supposed to sit above my hips), but I'm wondering if I could wear them at the hips (like my 501s) if I want. Reason being is I measured my waist as a 33.25" which seems WAY too big for me. I wear a 32x32 in 501s. Basically, sizing these jeans is proving difficult.
Hey! So, I don’t wear them super high because I’m not really into that. So I just wear them like 501s, at my pelvic bones. My waist is a true 33”, if that helps, and I got the size 32. It’s perfect, with just enough room to tuck. You should get a size 32 if your waist is truly a 33.25”. If you want to tuck thick shirts in or whatever, maybe get a 33.

I got mine used. But Standard and Strange is the standard place. They measure a bit differently than many places, so their waistband measurement is slightly different than my measurements.

Hi! I have a really important question. Just how small are the vocalion front pockets? That's a gripe I have with the classic Levi's 501. If the vocalion pockets are the same size - that's fine. But if they're smaller then it would be a deal breaker and I would buy Iron Hearts instead. Thank you for any insight!
How big are your 501 pockets? Maybe just measure the height and length of the pocket openings and I can tell you if it’s smaller than the Black Sign pocket.

@@thevintagefuture6567 actually I just measured them. Front pockets of the 501s are 11cm (4.331 inches) WIDE and 18 cm (7.087 inches) DEEP.

Ok, the exterior dimensions of the pocket opening on mine are 4.75” wide x 2.5” deep. The interior dimensions of the pocket bag are 7.5” deep x 5” wide.
