Dear Dr. Osama,
In the warning signs of PID you mentioned more than 8 ear infections per year but some guidelines mentioned 4 times. Which one should we consider? Thanks is not enough for your. I hope Allah increase your knowledge.

The key is know if there is any underlying cause for AOM, e.g. allergic rhinitis, adenoids, sinusitis, daycare attendance, more ear infections even after correcting the predisposing factors, increasing in frequency as the child getting older, these numbers just suggestive or red flags, you have to assess your patients considering all aspects, also AOM is over diagnosed and over treated, as many physicians count red TM as an ear infection, which is not true. RED TM does mean not OM. BULGING and decrease mobility is TRUE AOM.
Any child with normal immune system may have 4 or more AOM ONE year, and will become less frequent as the child getting older. Thanks.
