  • A compilation of 50 bridges in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia that you should see, before you or they die.
Bridges have a habit of being there one day and gone the next.
Every bridge becomes part of history the day they are born.
When they have gone, whether by flood, fire, old age, or other means, you will regret not having seen it or taken a photo.
Here are 50 slides of historic bridges you can still see and photograph in 2021 …I hope.
How many of these have you seen, or crossed?
For further information on some bridges, please see the comments.

Hinnomunjie Truss Bridge -- "The only Howe truss bridge left in Victoria is the Hinnomunjie Bridge in the Omeo Valley and it is on borrowed time. The heavy steel beams used to repair it after the 2003 fires are forcing the central pier out of alignment and the flood protection structures on the upstream side have been destroyed." -- Further Information from Helen Martin. Thanks again Helen.

Re: Orbost Railway - Snowy River floodplain viaduct -- Helen Martin, group expert for the Gippsland History Facebook group mentions that the 770-metre-long viaduct will soon be restored and incorporated into the rail trail, thanks to a $3.5 million grant from the State Government. Thank you for the information Helen.

It might be time to see the other half before some of them disappear.

Re: Stony Creek -- Helen Martin, group expert for the Gippsland History Facebook Group has pointed out that the Stony Creek trestle bridge is not part of the rail trail. The trail bypasses the bridge.

Burnt Bridge over Toorloo Arm at Lake Tyers is no longer there, so we are down to 49 bridges. Thanks to Barry Hoskin via Gippsland History Facebook.
