Great video Rico and Victoria! We had so much fun shooting this with you. Looking forward to next week's video that goes over all the electronics on your yacht!
The most important thing I took away from this is that you are still willing to service 40-year-old equipment if at all possible. That is so rare these days and it's admirable that you do it, I detest planned obsolesce.
@@marvindebot3264 We definitely stand behind our products and that is our business model. Whether you are making your living on the water, or simply are out there to enjoy it, it's important that you can rely on your electronics and that you can depend on the company to stand behind it! 👊
20 year retired 100 ton Gulf of mexico oilfield Captain here. 95% of my boats had Furono radar, depth sounder, GPS, Weather Fax etc. NEVER had a catastrophic failure, had to replace an ancient magnetron once. Just awesome stuff. Actually, the second radar I ever used as a Captain was a Raytheon you had to put your head in like your oldies radar! BIG Furono fan here, happily retired from that GOM nightmare, but still a fan.
I bought a WWII light freighter to supply some Alaska canneries in the 1980's and it had an "old" Furuno radar set. I had to look into a hooded screen though eye surrounds to read the "blips". But it ALWAYS WORKED. We upgraed in 1990 to a "new" Furuno but KEPT the original and used both. Thanks for keeping us safe Furuno! And thanks for the guided tour "NautiGuys".
had one of those old CRT Furunos as well. That thing could pick up lobster traps and birds no problem. I have the Furuno First Watch now, we use it to monitor MPAs, but even for a "budget" radar it does great and zero problems. I suspect my newer Furuno will last decades like the last one.
That's incredible that they are willing and able to supply parts for older units-how many companies do that today? Most companies would rather sell you a new product than find you parts to fix your older unit. That's really impressive and shows they are committed to their products! That's a win-win for the consumer for sure!!
It doesn't hurt that their tech is so good that they have military contracts. That simple fact alone not only allows them, but REQUIRES them to keep spares and supply parts for older generations of hardware. As a byproduct, it means their hardware HAS to be easily field-serviced - which means it's designed with owner maintenance in mind. When this spills over into the consumer side of things, we call it "right to repair". But I call it "how it fucking should have been in the first place". Glad to see Furuno not going down the rabbit hole of chasing planned obsolescence for no reason.
I was lucky to grow up in a fishing village on the east coast of the UK. Not many leisure boats had furuno. But virtually every fishing boat, dredger and other commercial boats had furuno. I used Furuno in the merchant navy and marine electronics of all brands in the leisure industry after that. People shook their heads when I put one of the first Furuno Navnet radars/chart plotter combos on our 36ft displacement steel cruising powerboat…this video explains exactly why I spent the extra money. Quality and service second to none.
When I left the USAF in 1980 I got a job at a large medical equipment manufacturer by the name of Beckman Instruments. When I was in training we went to the Fullerton plant, one of the original plants in the company.Arnold Beeckman ,in his 90’s still had an office in the building.Mr.Beckman invented the Ph Meter in his garage and grew that one instrument into a very big biomedical instrument corporation. He still went into the office weekly right up until he retired. Beckman Instruments merged with Coulter instruments and became Beckman/Coulter,one of the biggest biomedical instruments on the planet. Furono sounds a lot like Beckman Instruments, the best in their industry.
Oh this video was amazing! I so enjoy tech stuff . It was interesting to learn things about Furuno Like as they are as a company, what I found most impressive was the fact that they retain employees for so long that speaks volumes about a company❤ a company that values their employees will treat their customers in kind . Very much looking forward to next weeks video.
Wow you're Is opening teaser, 45 cuts in a minute and 40 seconds. Plus graphics how long did this take you for just your opener, very well done. Some of the best post-production work I've ever seen on TH-cam ! 😊 ❤ 🎉
I completely agree. Victorias come so far with her editing skills does such a phenomenal job if she keeps this up she’ll have to start working movie production companies lol 😂
That’s soo not fair😮 waiting on tender hooks to see what equipment that you Guys are going to have, only to be left on a cliffhanger!! I can’t wait that long 😢 it’s like Dallas all over again………..😅🎉❤
I bought a brand new boat in 2007 and had brand Lowrance Equipment including radar installed. My radar lite3rally work when I took delivery of the boat and onw time after. No way I would ever buy Lowrance eve3r again. I always regretted not putting in Furuno. Furuno is a terrific company.
I'm a technophile and I'm very impressed by this company! For Rico, is he familiar with the acronym RTFM? 😅 It's the answer on the forums to those who ask questions that are answered in the manual!
Victoria... is getting soooo goood... she is like the best seller rep for anything... but I know and we can tell it is because you believe in what you are saying... and in top of everything... that´s what you are putting into your boat... sooo I have to say.. now I am a big fan as well of Furuno!!!... Great Great Video guys... thank you so much.
Rico doesn't read manuals? As a technical writer, I am devastated! Actually, I more than understand, as I tend to avoid them myself. I have a picture of someone reading a rather voluminous documentation set I was responsible for - he was standing on it to reach a zirc terminal over his head. While I still stubbornly write documentation, I've found other avenues to contribute to that are often more effective and accessible for most users, including developing help systems within software applications and assisting in user interface (UI) design. For an organization that started in 1938, Furuno appears to be a very forward thinking company. BTW, nice heart-shaped (and colored) elbow patches, Victoria! Very Emma Peele.
We actually have the manual built-in to the NavNet TZtouch3 and XL system, so that you can access them anytime right on the MFD. Maybe that will help Rico be a little better at reading manuals! 😂 Actually, this has been one of the reasons that we have worked so hard on our user interface to make it as easy to use as the phone in your pocket.
@@FurunoMarineElectronicsThat's a fantastic mindset for a product manufacturer. When the weather is rough and anxiety is high, straightforward, context-sensitive help is a godsend. Kudos to the Furuno team!
Wow! Furuno were always the competition, I started out as a Radar Tech with Decca Radar in 1972 installing, servicing and repairing radars, Decca Navigators, Sailor and Simrad MF and VHF radios and Simrad echosounders and sonars. There were a few boats in the harbours that had Furuno radars but most were Decca 101/super101 and the, at the time new 050 a few had the 202 and then the Transar and 912/914 series, still remember the lead lined apron I had to wear when servicing the scanners, Ah happy days. I am excited to watch the rest of the video as I have to go to my boat just now
I had a furuno on my first boat in the 80s. They have the best customer service. Unfortunately my new boat came with a garmin and I have been on hold with them for hours on top of hours. He's telling you the truth about only a 10 minute wait.
Great tour and nice to see they tap in to the vast experience the military has to offer. Looking forward to the AR part. We just installed it on our boat, not by Furuno, but by Raymarine (Furuno was a bit above our pain level), but can tell you it works perfect. We coupled it to an IR camera and in addition we have a thermal imaging camera as well. All of a sudden going out at night in unknown territory became a lot safer. Only problem with Raymarine is that you can only couple Raymarine products to their system. Very curious to hear if Furuno allows you to use equipment from other producers. In any case you are in good hands with the guys (and girls) of Furuno.
Here in the U.S. we do a lot of work with the USCG, Navy, Customs and Border Patrol, local law enforcement, SAR (Search and Rescue units), and Fire departments to name a few.

Wow, I love you guys. This is so thoughtful and really if they give you a break and they should, I know you want to not have strings but this is so valuable. This is going to help alot of people. I would have definitely set my boat up with this brand had I known. The sales people were big ray marine pushers. I am so happy you are getting this after all you are commercial what are you pushing just under 200 tons? It is worth getting this when you are on the high seas you won't be sorry. Again love you guys and wishing you all the best, T
A couple, years ago Esysman showed a product from Furuno that went on a yacht tender and could map the bottom of the sea to determine if a yacht could make it's way through. It had a huge swath that it covered. I asked if once that area was mapped, was it then stored and disseminated to everyone with Furuno equipment so then everyone had the map to that specific area. They said No. It wss stored on a memory stick and it wasn't shared unless you chose to do it. That amazed me that if someone was mapping an unknown area, why wouldn't you share that? It was because that person bought the equipment and paid for it so they should retain the knowledge and decide if they wanted to share it or not. That amazed me. The other thing they do is they will periodically log in to your equipment and copy your data logs looking for bugs and then fixing them. No need to take a u it down and scan every component, that's nice
Even if it seems a bit casual overall, Furuno employees seem to like to keep their hands in their pockets when customers are present. But apart from that, for electronics geeks this is probably paradise. 😁

Thanks for the kind comments! Glad that you were able to put your trust in us!
This is too cool. You guys are becoming a real valuable resource. I had no idea I lived within driving distance of Furuno headquarters.
Thank you!
That is awesome!
Very interesting!
thanks for sharing
Oh this video was amazing! I so enjoy tech stuff . It was interesting to learn things about Furuno Like as they are as a company, what I found most impressive was the fact that they retain employees for so long that speaks volumes about a company❤ a company that values their employees will treat their customers in kind . Very much looking forward to next weeks video.
We 💙 Furuno!
We do value our employees and our customers! Thanks for watching!
I think I saw his photo in the wall. How cool
Who’s photo?
If you were talking about Shane Ryan, yes, we have a photo of him on the wall in the tech department where he spent many hours.
A pretty technical piece, I am enjoying it! Can’t wait for part 2 to this :)
You will definitely enjoy next week's episode then. You may even learn a thing or two that you didn't already know!
see you next Sat
Still remember during my working life, when we upgraded from Decca Marine to Furuno.
when was it?
That was back in the 80s, Chief engineer on a tug. @@NautiGuys
Guys, great tech talk. Very informational.
Much appreciated!
Thank youuuuu! It means more then you know 🙈🙈 took me a looong time 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Thank you @chrisheine1139 you guys are making my day, I worked really hard on this one
Totally awesome!! Totally geeked out! Loved Rico’s geek face when examining the VDR!!!👍🏻A very fast 45 minutes. Thank you and safe travels! 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻🍀🍀
Our pleasure!
What a great place to work. Love you guys! 🤩😍😘
💙💙💙
That’s soo not fair😮 waiting on tender hooks to see what equipment that you Guys are going to have, only to be left on a cliffhanger!! I can’t wait that long 😢 it’s like Dallas all over again………..😅🎉❤
Hahahahaha! It will be worth it, see you next week
@@NautiGuys yes sea you then. Have a good weekend, what’s left of it.x.
It's worth the wait, their electronics package is awesome!
Woooow, thanks for sharing!!
Once you watch next week's video, you will be even more convinced to put Furuno on your boat!😉
I'm a technophile and I'm very impressed by this company!
For Rico, is he familiar with the acronym RTFM? 😅
It's the answer on the forums to those who ask questions that are answered in the manual!
😂🤣
oh RTFM is something I say very often to Rico (after I find the right answer before he figures it out)
WOW, that is an Amazing company with some very innovative products and employee solutions including that wellness philosophy
We agree!
Thank you!
I absolutely look forward to seeing anything new from Nauti and older episodes as well. Makes my day! ☺
Thank you!
More to come!
What a great company
🥳🥳🥳
Thank you, we appreciate it!
I'll be honest, the end of the video caught me off-guard, it didn't feel like 45 minutes at all!
😝😝😝🙏🏻💙
Victoria... is getting soooo goood... she is like the best seller rep for anything... but I know and we can tell it is because you believe in what you are saying... and in top of everything... that´s what you are putting into your boat... sooo I have to say.. now I am a big fan as well of Furuno!!!... Great Great Video guys... thank you so much.
Thank you Pedro! We are the Furuno believers now after learning so much about the brand and the Tech
I liked that you guys do a good job with your questions at factory tours❤️⚓️
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
😝😝😝 thanks for still writing 🙏🏻🙏🏻
We actually have the manual built-in to the NavNet TZtouch3 and XL system, so that you can access them anytime right on the MFD. Maybe that will help Rico be a little better at reading manuals! 😂 Actually, this has been one of the reasons that we have worked so hard on our user interface to make it as easy to use as the phone in your pocket.
@@FurunoMarineElectronicsThat's a fantastic mindset for a product manufacturer. When the weather is rough and anxiety is high, straightforward, context-sensitive help is a godsend. Kudos to the Furuno team!
Wow, Thank you guys. Very interesting 😊. Rico love your face expression 😊
Glad you enjoyed it 😂😂😂
@NautiGuys I actually did and can't wait for part 2. 😊😊 Hope it comes out this Monday for my Birthday. Or maybe the Berning 95 crossing 😊🥰
You guys reset the bar every time.
🙏🏻💙
I am excited to watch the rest of the video as I have to go to my boat just now
🎉🎉🎉
I knew a little bit about the company...this video has been very informative 👌 👍 👏 😀
Glad you liked it! See you for part 2 next week! 👀💙⚓️
Like catnip for us geeks. Fascinating peek into a first rate company. Support /after sales is SO key. Looking forward to the specifics of your set-up.
🥳🥳🥳
Thank you for your kind comments!
I had a furuno on my first boat in the 80s. They have the best customer service. Unfortunately my new boat came with a garmin and I have been on hold with them for hours on top of hours. He's telling you the truth about only a 10 minute wait.
Come on back, you would love the new TZtouchXL system!
🙈 I’m sorry to hear that, thanks for sharing
Furuno is the only way to go.
🎉
We do integrate with a lot of 3rd party companies through the NavNet Command Center. It all depends on what exactly you are looking to do.
Thanks Dave
I’m part geek, so I’m enjoying this !
🤓 Enjoy! Part 2 coming soon!
Great vid. Love the geeking. Imma definite NautiNerd.
Same here! 😝😝😝
Is it Saturday yet?
Great job. Very informative. I would have loved to know how much work is done for military applications. Thanks for sharing.
🤫😝
Here in the U.S. we do a lot of work with the USCG, Navy, Customs and Border Patrol, local law enforcement, SAR (Search and Rescue units), and Fire departments to name a few.
@@FurunoMarineElectronics Thanks for responding. I appreciate your continued support of Americans and, citizens of the world on the water. I hope you're equipped on the vessel I'm looking to purchase. Thanks again.
Again love you guys and wishing you all the best, T
so glad you found this interesting
The electronics on your boat are going to be incredible, can't wait to see next week's video.
Us too!
Their electronics package is really impressive!
I learned so much in this video. I can’t wait for Part 2! 😃👊
Glad to hear it! see you next week
Thanks for making great videos!@@NautiGuys
Ohh dang I was looking forward to some tech spec demonstration of your equipment . Oh well maybe next time. Take care, :)
Tune in next week!
see you on Sat - buckle up! lol
Victoria, kind of looks like Carole Brady on the Brady Bunch, her hairstyle
lol
Video essays like this (and classic boat week) I like to watch.
🤩🤩🤩
We will have the same… will explain it next week
Wow! Welcome to the Camas and Vancouver area. I love it here.
It was sooooo cold!!! 🥶🤣
@@NautiGuys LOL! You get used to it and I love the rivers here because of all the islands and green.
oh no! I want it now!
🙈🙈😝😝
I hope part 2 is just as long 😂
Plan on it 🤪🤦🏼♀️ if not longer
@@NautiGuys hip hip, hooray. Hip hip, hooray.
Just like Rico, I’m a big tech/mechanical nerd.
Lot's of great content to cover, that's for sure!
So wise , Thank You . `No wonder you are using Furuno . After all when you are 200+ miles from any where , the Gear Must work.
Very true!

c1 These are the videos I like. New tech and behind the curtain. Big fan of science.
Glad you like them! We love them too!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️
Wow this is amazing.
🎉🎉🎉
Even if it seems a bit casual overall, Furuno employees seem to like to keep their hands in their pockets when customers are present. But apart from that, for electronics geeks this is probably paradise. 😁
you must be European 😝😂
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Come on, I'm dying to see the new technology they have.
Tune in next week, you're going to love it!
Patience 😝😂

That was a great video! First looked at it, hmmmm... 47, almost 48 minutes, it's raining - ok, watch. Glad I did. Victoria, if you had not said something..... Always did like Furuno, also thought, I could not afford it. Thanks for shattering that myth! Great stuff, now I have to wait for part 2! Fair winds.....
Glad you enjoyed it! See you for Part 2 next week! 👀💙⚓️
Glad you watched it! If you compare us to the other comparable systems, the pricing is similar and sometime even less with Furuno. It was a myth that needed to be busted, thanks Victoria and Rico!
