Had to stop in and tell you. Was at my doctor's this morning for my 6 month checkup for my A1c. Soon as she walked in she said WOW, how did you do that? I asked well what is it. She said 5. I was at 7.3 I told her about your channel and the other old doctor I had seen back in Jan 3 about the dark chocolate with almonds. She said I still can't believe you got your numbers down that low in only 6 months. Also I lost 90 pounds. Walking, carbs and the old docs advice along with your channel saved me. Thank you and God for letting myself find your channel! She wants me to take the metformin for another 6 months but said I could stop the medication if I wanted. I'm going to get it refilled but not take it just so insurance pays for my strips. Again GOD bless you and your wife for making this channel 🙏
To slugo915: Hello 👩🦰, I want something sweet sometimes & eat certain frozen fruits which are very tasty & I love. Can you pls tell me more about the chocolate with almonds ummm sounds yummy 😁 From Texas 🥳
@a.d.9992 yes of course. The doc I saw that day, I got up to leave the appointment and he handed me a piece of chocolate. I said ty doc but I can't have that cause I just got diagnosed type 2 back in August 2023. He said listen here young man, I'm 54, you can have a couple of these everyday. I said well, how many you eat? He said this is how he kickstarted his insulin resistance. Have I piece after each meal. And one before bed. He gave myself the Dove dark chocolate with almonds. I eat 3 pieces a day now. 4 pieces if you read the bag is only 1 total serving. This worked for me but I'm not a doctor so you make up your mind if you wanna try it or not. I also walk after each meal. Hope this helps.
My way of shopping is: walk the perimeter of the store. If you have to walk the isle, fish, olive oil first cold press (pompian label) If you stay on the perimeter you well hit produce, protien rotisserie chicken seafood (frozen). Pickles cheese eggs . Are u picking up my message
Very helpful! Your channel is a lifesaver. As a diabetic, I am on my own because my doctors still push 50+ carbohydrates at every meal! It’s unbelievable how uninformed they still are in 2024! After watching you and Dr Fung, I decided to take back control of my health and I’m feeling a lot better!

People ask me how I lost weight. When I start talking about carb restriction they soon lose interest and walk away. I’m sorry they do that. I wish everyone excellent health!
Me too. I cut soda pop, cookies, cakes, bread, potatoes, pasta, and rice out of my diet and I dropped 20 lbs. within 6 months. There are many people who couldn’t live without consuming these.
@@ntrnlgrv i didn't loose a pound but got a1c from 13 to under 6 without meds, unfortunately i was raised on pasta, pizza, and pita so it's a rollercoaster of self control now.
Went to my diabetes follow-up appointment 2 weeks ago. Back in October my A1C was 7.6. Now it's 6.9, but my doctor looks for stuff to have me appear to be worse than I am, and she rounded it to 7. However, if my A1C drops down 5 more points, I will be at pre-diabetic stage. Working hard getting it down! My blood sugar is FANTASTIC! Checked it this afternoon - it was 99. What am I eating? I had mashed rutabaga with my meals. Upped my fruit and vegetable intake like crazy. If I have a hamburger out, I get it low-carb ( no bun). Or I will have a wrap. Better choices and portion control are my keys in trying to crush my Type 2 diabetes. Next appointment (with labs one week before) is in mid-June.
Yes now that I'm eating way healthier I've developed 2 kidney stones again! My main culprit I believe is /was cashews and spinach. Can get frustrating but I got this! I pray every night for those who have type 2 and even the young people that I see eating like there's no tomorrow. But I do not judge anyone, that's God's doing. If only we could turn back time and know now what we didn't listen to. 🙏

Thank you for this helpful information. I love your videos. Spinach is one of my favorite foods. I actually make my own spinach wraps (seen this on the channel “ low carb love”). I learned that you can eat all in the produce section as you want. You said apples and tomatoes should be in moderation. They do raise your sugar levels up. But it comes right back down to normal quickly. All the plant based foods eat as much of them as you want. Some raise your sugar levels up more than others. But as I said, it will come back down right away. And stay in the normal range 90 % of the time.
I would call BS to this imo because grapes and bananas raised my numbers and they stayed up for almost 4 hours when I was first starting out. What people have to remember is NOT everyone is the same! Mike the meter will tell you.

Hubby is no longer considered type 2 due to a keto diet. His A1C is under 5. The doctor told him he no longer has to track his blood sugar, because he has just kicked diabetes to the curb. I was about to be diagnosed type 2, and I am also keto. The two of us have fantastic bloodwork now. No sugar, no grains.
So happy to press "like" even before seeing your talk.. very confident in you, Dennis, Thanks so much.. I had to look up your Chaffle recipe yesterday.. you always help me!
No quite 8 years ago when I began this journey after a heart bypass and diabetes diagnosis I read this diet instruction. but I cannot remember where I read it. Eat any animal product except the milk part of dairy. The fat part of milk is healthy. Eat any plant product that is not a seed, grain, fruit or root. There are some exceptions in the plants as Dennis pointed out in the video, ie, cucumber, and zucchini are fruits, but as written you can't go wrong. NO SEED OILS and my personal rule is if it is in a package with an ingredient list, it stays in the store.
The real key is finding foods you love to eat that won't raise your sugar. I don't have a lot of time to prepare fancy meals. So I usually throw some meat on the grill, or cook 2 or 3 eggs and cheese omlet. Then I have a huge salad, and I throw in lots of goodies like berries, mushrooms, almonds, bacon, bell peppers, cheese, avacado, then top it off with a home made vinegar and oil dressing. I make enough salad for 2 days. After dinner I have a little 5% Plain Greek yogurt. I'm type 2 controlling it through diet and exercise. No more Insulin or pills!
Do you know roughly how many calories that adds up to per day? My problem is I keep losing weight on the low carb diet. I can't maintain or gain weight.
I don't know how to gain weight on a low carb diet. I think maybe the body just does what it wants when on a low carb diet. I don't count calories or grams of food.
I’m fully aware of the foods I should eat…unfortunately these foods have risen in price considerably and still on the rise… Those of us on a fixed income are struggling with the rise in prices of everything including foods, meds, utilities, insurance etc…. I had done very well by following your suggestions on your videos… now with so much cost increases…it’s not going well 😔😔😔I worked so hard !
Dr. Berry has recommended that if a person can't afford the higher cost meats, to eat things like eggs, hot dogs, potted meat (for examples if you like those) and other lower cost things like that, until a person can afford to do better. It doesn't have to be expensive types of meat if a person can't afford that.
Sometimes its better to invest in a close by wrancher and agree with him to buy half a cow when hes ready to process them and fill your freezer somewhat ....maybe a family member could go in with you on costs??kerry from a videos on Homestead How talks about this a lot
My husband is in a quandary. He went to get his 6-month labs and the doctor was thrilled with his 30-lb weight loss done on a low-carb diet. He's 199 lb now His glucose was 45 yet his A1C went up to 6.2. His CO2 was low and his LDL went from 152 up to 199. His HDL went up in triglycerides were cut in half down to 51. He is beyond discouraged! His doctor told him he needed to add potatoes and bananas back to his diet to get his glucose up. She also told him to stop drinking his electrolyte drink which helps him feel better. We just can't win! 🤦🏼♀️
No added sugar. Limit breads, starches. No fruit juice. Eat the whole fruit. Lots (as much as you want)of raw and cooked greens and veggies. GBOMBS - Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries Seeds.
Glad to find you!!!! I was just diagnosed with diabetes and am scared to death!!!! Not a Christmas present I want but here I go!!! It’s not like I don’t know what I should have but…. My dog and I had wild caught salmon tonight. So glad I like meat and fish, now I have to dislike the sweet stuff. Thats a hard one!!! Guess I’m sweet enough 😟
I have been completing a National Health course recommended by my health care assistant. It was an excellent holistic course (I haven't finished it yet). The nutritionist was dismayed that I did not seem to be following it since I am quite interested in your diet. She could not understand why I was cutting out whole food groups. However, I get confused between the healthy and non healthy carbohydrates.
Thank you Brother Dennis, your videos are always gutsy & spot on very educative and helpful for those diabetics who want help, for those who have contradictory remarks to make don't watch the video's nobody is forcing you to. God bless you & Benedicta for all the love & effort you'll put in to make these videos to help mankind❤
Pastor Dennis, Once again, another excellent video; thank you, sir. Btw, potatoes have affected me in the same way, so I don't eat any types. Sweet potatoes, especially, would spike my blood glucose through the roof! Whenever I go grocery shopping, I'll look at them and leave them exactly where they are. Thank you again, sir; may God bless you and your lovely family🙏🌹
People are addicted to sugar, I including myself. I have to stay away from anything sweet simply because I can't just stop at 1. I've been eating fatty fish, avocado, cabbage, red meat, bacon, beets, high fat cheese and butter. I only drink water and black coffee. Yeah it's boring but I'm healthier now than I've ever been. My liver enzymes are going down and my blood sugar is under control. I'm losing weight and my blood pressure is normal enough that if I keep this up I might be able to get off of my medication. We can either eat what we want and be unhealthy and die young or eat what we need, be healthy and live as long as we possibly can.
I cut up 3 cucumbers and 2 red onions and cover them with Vinegar and keep them in the fridge. My husband is type 2 and eats 1 cup with every supper meal also. And watching everything he eats. He went from 550 to a 6 A1C in 2 months and holding. I really want to get him down in the 5's.. it's been a year and 2 months... Stuck at A1C of 6...
Glucometers are cheap! But the data they give you is in real time and priceless! Don’t wait! It allows you to adjust your diet quickly for your benefit.
@@noyebalmer8112 my doctor told me i dont need one, all i need is to check A1C . i reversed my prediabetes back to normal A1C by eating a lot less sugar and carbs.
Or fill up with the big salad, the hamburger and a side of green beans, asparagus or other greens. I do that and my blood sugar does not go up high. That way you get lots of vitamins, minerals, and hardly any carbs.
Dennis have you ever ate the Lilys chocolate sugar free bar at walmart it has stevia and its around 3.98 or 4.15 a bar ....its located in candy section
It is ok to eat non starchy vegetables because your blood glucose meter gives limits for how high your blood glucose should be two hours after eating a meal which you ignore but if you do stay in the limits set by your BGM then as I have seen myself I have reversed my type 2 diabetes. If you do tell people that they can only eat lots of non-starchy vegetables then many people will likely go carnivore because most people do not like eating a lot of non-starchy vegetables.
did well for about 2-3 years before backsliding and adding "a few" carbs to the high-fat keto breaking it all (three times in 15 years) ... round 4, fight.
Try putting 3 or 4 Sliced strawberries into a salad, with lots of green lettuce, Vinegar and olive oil as the dressing. You may find you can eat a few strawberries in salad. Check with "mike the Meter". Make sure to slice the strawberries so it look like you have a lot more then you really do..

So happy to press "like" even before seeing your talk.. very confident in you, Dennis, Thanks so much.. I had to look up your Chaffle recipe yesterday.. you always help me!
Thanks, Mary!
Absolutely good advice Dennis ❤
Really enjoyed your video. Thanks for the information. Peace
Since being diagnosed with diabetes I've noticed that there's quite a few aisles I can skip at the grocery. Enjoyed your video by the way.
Such great information, Dennis!! ❤ Thank you! I am having to totally change what I eat..
You can do it!
Thank you for all you do! Thanks Jennifer 😊
Thanks for watching!
Thank you. I appreciate your help. I get so confused.
Thank you so much my friend❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you.
Welcome!
Dennis, I loved this video in Walmart. I agree with all your selections my friend. Love to you and Benedicta. ❤😊
Glad you enjoyed
Thanks for the information very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for all you do. Luckily I recently found your podcast. Diabetes -let untreated-is a slow moving train wreck. 🙏👍
I’m fully aware of the foods I should eat…unfortunately these foods have risen in price considerably and still on the rise…
Those of us on a fixed income are struggling with the rise in prices of everything including foods, meds, utilities, insurance etc….
That's a good point, and I fully agree.
Segundo! I live in the Land of Diabetes and have been to Strokeville. Bummer, let me tell ya...no fun at all. However, we must fight the good fight!
Si Se Puede!
Great explanation of blood glucose spikes and the foods we should be eating. Great job! Enjoyable video.
Thanks!
Just discovered you! Thanku sooo much!😊❤
You’re welcome 😊
Great advice and easy to live by it for our own well-being.
Great teaching tour
Glad you liked it

Thank you Brother Dennis, your videos are always gutsy & spot on very educative and helpful for those diabetics who want help, for those who have contradictory remarks to make don't watch the video's nobody is forcing you to.
God bless you & Benedicta for all the love & effort you'll put in to make these videos to help mankind❤
THANK YOU!!! 😊
Welcome!!
Shop the outer edges of the grocery store and avoid the middle isles. Other than cooking oils isle!
Very helpful indeed. 🙏🏼
Pastor Dennis,
Once again, another excellent video; thank you, sir.
Sardines and eggs
An excellent video.
Amen , we need to follow God's rule in our diet.
Thank you for this video!
Enjoyed the video!!
Love you. Yes Grapes are candy. Dr.Steven Gundry says the same thing.😊
Great videos David thanks for sharing.🌈👍😎
Glad you enjoyed it
People are addicted to sugar, I including myself.
Please provide recipe for spinach soup
THANK YOU ❤
You are my hero 🎉
Beef,butter,bacon and eggs.
Agree, although instead of bacon, I eat pork breakfast sausage instead, at least at the current time...may go back to bacon later on though.
Dr. Berry’s exact prescription…BBBE
Great video, my doctor told me i don't need a glucose meter and told me just to check A1C. i get lab work done every 3 months.
@@noyebalmer8112But I discovered the cheap ones are far from accurate.
Excellent video thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very useful video.Thankyou😊
Welcome 😊
Thank you for this from David in lreland Europe
Or fill up with the big salad, the hamburger and a side of green beans, asparagus or other greens. I do that and my blood sugar does not go up high. That way you get lots of vitamins, minerals, and hardly any carbs.
I'm very concerned about the oxalates in those vegetables!!! I know that strawberries are very very good for your eyes! 😍
The good thing about vegetables both starchy and non-starchy is they are mostly water so that the carb load is lower for them.
Dennis have you ever ate the Lilys chocolate sugar free bar at walmart it has stevia and its around 3.98 or 4.15 a bar ....its located in candy section
Great advice!! I eat exactly what you are talking about, 63 here.
Eating spinach raw blocks calcium absorption, add lemon juice and it can be digested without blocking calcium.
did well for about 2-3 years before backsliding and adding "a few" carbs to the high-fat keto breaking it all (three times in 15 years) ... round 4, fight.
strawberries raised my blood sugar big time. No one thing is right for everybody, I do eat onions and hot peppers
And that’s why he talks about “Mike the Meter” right a the beginning of the video.
