  • Looking for a battery grip for your Canon EOS RP? I can kind of see why Canon themselves didn't make one, but this battery grip from MCOplus feels like it could have been an original unit from Canon. And I love how they use the cable into the remote trigger port to enable the MCOPlus Canon EOS Battery Grip to be able to use a button while in portrait mode. Such a smart way to get around the limitations of the camera. Should you buy this? Well, I think that if you are wanting to be able to shoot for longer periods of time with your Canon EOS RP (because the battery in the RP isn't great) than this is a fantastic option. This will definitely be coming with me for some of my shoots where I know that a single battery just won't do.

    I have the same grip for my EOS RP, but I'm in Australia so the company marketing it is Neewer. Absolutely identical product though. Fun fact: you don't have to use two batteries at a time in the grip, and if you use only one battery the RP WILL show the proper battery level in the viewfinders.

    Hello Cruisn Canada 🇨🇦.
    I ran across U and your video commentary by pure accident. I was looking for something else Canon EOS RP related. Yes I have one and I purchase it when they first came out. We get along quite well with each other (the camera). LOL.
    Of course when they first came out there was not any type of vertical battery grips on the market for the RP's. I stopped looking and so be it. I ran across your video and it turned me on and I immediately ordered one from Amazon. I should receive it on 3-18-2021. I have been shooting with Canon equipment for over 30 years. Every camera I have had, had a vertical grip. I am quite spoiled with this option. I like the RP very much, now I know I will love it with this grip on it. The cable required to use the grip's shutter in portrait mode is a nuisance. I have two other grips for my 80D and 6DII and neither needs a cable for that function to work. I may end up purchasing one but the cable will never see the light of day.

    Very timely review. I just Bought EOS RP. I need more finger space (big hands) but want to keep it light. The Canon grip extender looks good but holy smokes is it over priced.
    This grip cost less and the extra battery life is also a big bonus. I have an older T6 Rebel that uses the same battery and for photo it's ok but video was only about 40 minutes to 1 hour before it started blinking (imminent death warning light). I can only hope RP is more efficient and has better battery life. But I doubt it.
    Bottom line is how noticibly heavier is the grip? I think I'll get it though 😂 Thanks!

    Great video! However, after purchasing this grip and using it for a month now I noticed that if you are using canon batteries in the grip, you MUST say that the canon batteries are NOT authentic/compatible or else it will shut off and will not allow you to use the camera for safety reasons. Another point to keep in mind is that the battery indicator is not accurate of how much battery is actually left on the batteries themselves. I found this issue when the grip was in place and it would drain my LPE17 batteries rather quickly. I dont know if anyone else is having this issue, but it is something to keep in mind.
    Just a heads up for those interested in using this battery grip since canon does not make a grip for the RP unfortunately!

    • @Anonymousfishh
      @Anonymousfishh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In addition, if BOTH batteries that you are using inside the grip are not 100% charged, the battery indicator on your screen will show an empty battery, therefore you will not know how much battery life you have left, a weird problem I have noticed in the past month

    • @gregtoope

      John Blomeling I don’t know how they would be able to add circuitry to the grip. It would have to be physically added to the camera. Which isn’t doable.
