      Rick I was also surprised by my electric bill having almost no change, I usually run it 8 hours a night and I haven't noticed any increase. Thanks for watching the video!

    Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! th-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install.This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    Let me make a correction....never wash the air net at the back of the AC with warm water but just use a normal paint brush to brush of dust when you are cleaning because that net is very fragile it may spoil if much pressure is placed on it.... that is how I clean my own and it worked....

Is there a way to mount the exhaust pipe in between the crack of the door and seal the door off? Or I was thinking maybe I remove the door, get another door and drill into that one and then put the exhaust pipe through the bottom of the door? Is it crucial to let the unit stand upright for 24-hours before using? We got a reminder email instructing us to do so so the coolant can settle after shipment and if it’s plugged in “too soon” it will not reach a cold temperature. It’s being delivered this morning via fed-ex but we are in desperate need of the AC this afternoon as the temps will climb up to 101 :( I don’t think we can wait 24-hours!

    This is just a tip for others that are considering a portable inside AC/Heat unit for a spare room or their home.
    One thing I had to do was raise mine up off the floor by placing it on a platform and use an old round 5 quart ice-cream bucket for water drainage.
    Being directly on the floor, the drain plug is too close to the floor, and it will end up making a water mess on your floor or carpet, it's too close to get anything under it to hold the amount of water that it may discharge when the unit tells you it needs to be drained, usually displays FT {Full Tank} on the display and shuts off the unit.
    I just drilled a hole in the ice-cream bucket lid slightly smaller than the hose outside diameter, built a small platform getting the unit about 4-6 inches off the floor, opened the drain plug and installed a short hose {I cut down from the original clear hose supplied} to the ice-cream bucket through the hole in the lid. Been working great.
    When the bucket fills up, I just disconnect the lid, dump the water in my sink, replace and good to go again. I have a spare bucket to use when dumping the water, just in case more would come out of the unit. The hose drain plug on the unit must be above the bucket for this to work. I tried it at floor level and the water would not flow into the bucket, hence the 4-6 inch platform that put the drainage plug and hose above the bucket lid. With the A/C, I don't get much water and may only need to dump it once every 2 to 4 weeks, using the Heat mode, I had to dump water about every 3 to 5 days, and the Dehumidifier mode is about the same as the Heat mode with water discharge,
    See my other comment below about a problem if you have a cat or cats{pets} messing up the controls.

    • @SDsearcher
      @SDsearcher 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi there. I just read your comment about water on the floor. I just got my unit yesterday and set it up. It works fine, but after about twenty minutes my floor was covered in water. No clear hose was supplied with my unit. The owners manual said it won’t leak and that if the tank fills water the unit will turn off. I’m so unhappy. I paid too much money to have to constantly change wet towels. I checked the drainage plug and it’s plugged in tightly. I cannot tell where the water is originating from. There is no condensation on the top of the unit. It seems like it’s coming from underneath. ☹️
      Update….to anyone who sees this. I found out that someone (the delivery person? I don’t know) dropped the entire unit and broke the whole underside of it. When I closely inspected the styrofoam packing material from the bottom of the unit, there were many broken pieces of plastic embedded in the smashed styrofoam. So water was coming out the bottom of the unit because it’s cracked and broken, not because it’s faulty. I called Amazon and they said they will replace it.

      That's alot of work

    • @HolidayDecorator
      @HolidayDecorator 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SDsearcher Sorry to hear yours came without the clear drain hose and was broken.
      Yes, it should shut off when the units water reservoir gets full, the issue I had was when I opened the drain to remove the water, it ended up flooding my floor because of how close to the floor it is, the pan had to be so shallow to slide under it that when you pick it up, if you can find one that will slide under the drain outlet, you'll end up spilling the water everywhere.
      And why I built the platform for mine, a lot easier to dump an old ice cream bucket as opposed to a pan that's not hardly an inch or so deep.
      I also added a water alarm in the water catch bucket that alerts me with a flashing L.E.D. light and an alarm when the water container gets 3/4 full. Before I added that, and I'd forget to check the container, sometimes I'd have a little damp spot where some water flowed out the hole in the lid, but not as bad when I didn't have it on the raised platform and drain hose to my makeshift drain bucket.

    • @HolidayDecorator
      @HolidayDecorator 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justputdale1211 not really. Cost a lot more if you have wooden flooring or carpeting and have to replace it due to water damage.
      Well worth the time and wasn't that difficult to build, didn't take but about an hour to make the platform and cost wasn't too bad, but that was quite some time ago when I built the platform.
      It was originally built for use in my Holiday Displays, but got regulated for use with the portable Air Conditioner.
      Which turned out it was better suited for. LOL

    I got a B&D Model : BPACT12H. It's the same exact model in your review, I got it for the heat in the winter and the heater works fantastic too.
    My ONLY real complaint with this unit is the top mounted controls doesn't have a protector {A clear lid that can be closed over it.}
    Why do I need this?
    I have cats, and they are CONSTANTLY jumping on it to get to another area, or they sit on it and keep changing the control settings/temperature/mode, or they just end up turning it off.
    To prevent this I need a hinged clear lid, or clear hinged flat cover that could be installed as an after-market option or a DIY {make your own for it}.
    That's the only issue I have with mine, otherwise, it's a great AC and Heating Unit, along with the Dehumidifier mode it has works great too.
    Been looking on-line to see if anyone else has added a cover like I need, but thus far, have found no one has done this. I actually have something I can use, but not sure if the back of the unit above the filter area has enough space to add 2 small hinges and screws without damaging the control board inside. I was hoping someone had done this already, due to the same issues I have, so I can keep my AC, or Heat operating without interruption, or setting being messed up by my arrogant cats that just won't stay off my unit!
    It would have been an even better unit if B&D had factory installed clear hinged covers on these portable units, so this aggravation would not even occur in the first place!
    Not only that, but Likewise, I'm just sick and tired of having to change modes, turn on or reset it every time my cats use it as a jump off point, or sitting perch messing up all the settings.

      @@supriyasou3722 Believe or not I tried doing that, placed it on the top of the unit, we went to church, gone about an hour, maybe an hour and a half.
      Guess who shredded the Velcro and had the clear lid on the floor, yep, my cats removed it, one sitting on the control panel, shut the unit off, another 2 lying on the clear plastic lid chewing on the Velcro strips. Arrrrrggghh!
      Just can't outwit those pesky cats of mine.
      If it's not bolted on, they will ALWAYS manage to undo whatever I try to do using the easy way.

    • @Golano405
      @Golano405 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Shouldigetit2 Great video! During the cooling mode, there are two ways to handle the water condensation: One, direct the drain tube to a catch basin or floor drain (if available). Two, put the plug in the drain and the water is gathered in the internal water holding tank. From there, the water vapor from that tank is exhausted out through the flexible hose to the outside. Sometimes, early on when the A/C is just started up in an excessively humid room, the tank will fill faster than the moisture is directed out through the flexible hose. When that happens, the unit will shut off and a full tank light will alert you to that. Empty the tank, replace it, and your unit will run as it did before. BTW...there is no water condensation involved if your particular model has the heat mode.

    • @HolidayDecorator

      So do I. I have a manufactured home {ya know a glorified trailer that resembles a house to a point} and the windows aren't wide enough to handle the exhaust, you can cut it down, but that's kind of difficult thing to do, requires a hacksaw, and messy. I didn't even try it. I just drilled a few extra holes in the piece that the exhaust port goes to and screwed it down to my interior window sill between the double windows I have. Been working that way now for close to a year.
      The only other thing I had to do was raise it up off the floor by placing it on a platform and use an old round 5 quart ice-cream bucket for water drainage. Being directly on the floor, the drain plug is too close to the floor, and it will end up making a water mess on your floor or carpet.
The hose must be above the bucket for this to work. I tried it at floor level and the water would not flow into the bucket, hence the 4-6 inch platform that put the drainage hose above the bucket lid. With the A/C, I don't get much water and may only need to dump it once every 2 to 4 weeks, using the Heat mode, I had to dump water about every 3 to 5 days, and the Dehumidifier mode is about the same as the Heat mode with water discharge,
      See my other comment above about a problem if you have a cat or cats messing up the controls.
      But this is just a tip for others that are considering a portable inside AC/Heat unit.

      Sorry Steve just saw this comment, were you able to fix it? I don't know what I'd do but I'm curious what you did.

    I want one but I’ve seen a lot of articles online about it. Does it actually cool ?

      What do you mean? Of course it cools! I'd throw it out the window if it didn't

      It would freeze a tent! Thanks for watching Dave

    So if I use it for AC I won’t have to drain it ?

    Would this cool a livingroom with a loft?

    • @Shouldigetit2

      Probably not the loft if it's in the living room but it will help make both cooler

      It doesn't have a timer but does have a sleep function.
