There are no banks on Svalbard. Only the grocery store accepts cash, but they accept all major currencies such as US Dollars, Pounds, and Euro. They will give you change in Norwegian Kroner though.

As soon as you get to Svalbard you no longer need a visa so nothing happens. It’s just like being in your home country. You can be there as long as you like and work and yeah.

I would think that if you come to Svalbard with a Schengen visa and it expires while you are up there you would have to apply for another one. Or maybe actually as soon as you go to Svalbard your Schengen visa freezes. Because you get a stamp for Svalbard because you leave the Schengen zone.

There’s an outdoor ice hockey with free skates, pucks, and sticks. There’s also a gym. No basketball though.
