If I had a nickel for every time a Dragon-type Pokemon fell to UU, got back to OU, and gained a new broken move in the DLC making them a potential test suspect to be banned to Ubers, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

@@ryankendall3716it was when Chien-Pao was still around, who outclassed it as an offensive Ice Type, and Ice Types aren’t something you can just easily slap on a team, so if you were using an Ice Type it was almost always Chien-Pao
But Moon has the probability of not get banned. The Baxcalibur ones, however, were so obvious to be a "Yes" that they just quickbanned him.

honestly really disappointing that this is the mon they choose to suspect rn, and not unkillable gliscor or cheap kingambit or gholdengo making hazards impossible to remove not to mention wellspring or manaphy. If gambit didn’t get banned there’s no way this thing will, this just feels like a waste of time
Gambit will be suspected and probably banned fairly soon but they already did a suspect a few months back
And while I agree that moon shouldn’t have been suspected before gliscor which is the most annoying mon in the tier rn imo, it makes sense. Not many mons want to switchin into Tera-dark Knock Off
I'm glad someone mentionned gholdengo, i genuinely think that mon is a very unhealthy presence in OU literally because it blocks defog and spin on top of being an excellent mon despite of that.
If at least there were defogger who threatens it, that would be more manageable.
Also, I like how they introduced this mon in the same gen they gave spikes/sr to everything and got rid of defog on almost every mon that had it before. GF are clowns.

But like it is though. After a DD it outspeeds and ohkos every offensive threat in the meta, and now that it has knock off grounded defensive mons like Dondozo or the occasional unaware bold clef can’t reliably check it, since a wall without HDB in a meta like this is barely a wall at all.
Only full physdef corv can check it fully, but it’s super walled by Tera fly unless it runs brave bird/Iron Defense over Press or U-turn, which in this Gambit Gliscor Gholdengo meta you don’t wanna do very much. And with common mons like Gholdengo, Dragapult, Iron Moth and Cinderace, it’s pretty easy to deal with and eliminate should you face it.
Really quite restrictive, insane breaking power + Insane speed + Insane Ability + STAB Knock Off + Dragon Dance is not exactly the fairest combo currently.
Yeah Darkrai should be allowed. It's basically a generic special attacker.
+ves : Plot, decent coverage, Above avg speed
-ves : bad offensive typing, 4mss, no way to boost speed thus easily revenged by every booster mon out there

I don't have a strong opinion about it being banworthy, but i do think they should have waited on this suspect test. They haven't given it enough time to show how dominating it is and people are going to be more likely to vote DNB (especially considering it was UU) losing it a chance to eventually get banned if it actually is broken.

Gambit was suspected in the home meta however it only received 55% support when the margin is 60% and it would look weird if it was suspected again just after it failed to get banned.
a lot of players including high level ones have commented negatively on the metagame quality, so they're acting rapidly. the HO-or-stall scenario and the boots epidemic is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way - especially because theres a high level tournament going on in the middle of all this
and the optics on resuspecting KG so soon after the last vote failed would be weird. it would look like overriding community opinion to force it through, despite it receiving zero new tools
i think enough DNB voters have expressed changing their minds since that the result might be different, but the timing is too soon

it’s so insanely strong, after one DD it feels like there is no defensive answer aside from dozo who gets fried by taunt
however, it really doesn’t feel as broken as some other threats in the meta, I got reqs with a moon team on grassy offence but all of my other sweepers (sneas, zama, mana, hatt) felt like they put in a lot more work so idrk, leaning towards ban but still not decided

i used it with decent sucess with a bulky set, enough speed to outspeed the 110 and decent bulk, with roost uturn and knock off it could sponge a lot and provide utility

It feels like the only major change for Roaring Moon aside from Knock Off (which I honestly don’t think is that important in the grand scheme of things) is the lack of competition between Garchomp struggling harder than ever to cut a niche in the meta and Baxcalibur being banished to the cold uncaring reality of OUBL limbo. Feels like Ursaluna all over again except people are more concerned because it has an actual Speed stat, meanwhile we have a far more oppressive Dark type still running amok whose Ability is literally a fighting game comeback in a turn-based RPG.
SV OU is already in a bad state and if we get rid of Salamenace over here before Kingambit I can’t consider it a serious metagame.

Roaring Moon is doing better in the Smogon Champion League than Kingambit is lmao. It's very much on par as a potent, broken thrwat
And knock off is really important. Not only is it a high BP move, its got serious utility that ensures moon is never deadweight. It also revitalized choice band sets which are significantly more dangerous now and even gave legitimacy to pivot sets. Knock off is an S tier move and perfectly fits on Moon's toolkit.

One set I'd want to see built on is Tera Ground Chesnaught.
Bulletproof makes you immune to Gholdengo Shadow Ball and Cinderace Pyro Ball, and allows you to Pivot them in and score a Tera Stab EQ.
Running Rock Slide on the set as well lets you counter if they try to pivot to Flying to go for 4x effective before you Tera to ground.
Bulletproof is probably the worst-named ability ever. It protects against shadow ball, but it doesn’t block Bullet Punch lol.

It’s crazy that roaring moon is getting suspect tested over kingambit. Sure with gambit a lot of stuff is 50/50s and not instant wins but the fact it can force the opponent into that is wild. Maybe I’m missing something but I feel that gambit has been way more oppressive to team building then roaring moon has been. I am not anywhere near the top of ladder so maybe I’m just bad but just my thoughts on the matter
I think the issue is they just suspected Gambit not that long ago and despite many of all skill levels deciding its a questionable component of OU with how often it forces 50/50s and tera allowing it to bypass many checks...it barely survived the suspect meaning that it likely be a while longer before it comes back around for another.

zmoves in gen 7 broke a ton of stuff in lower tiers, when ou is put in a similar position it's suddenly a problem despite ou being the most power crept main tier, like what do you expect lol

I personally don't see anything wrong with a mom that encourages specific tera types as long as the mon itself isn't unbearable to deal with once you're not weak it, its when it forces a specific type across multiple mons that I see a problem
The council hates Tera entirely and wants it banned.
Which is why they banned Volcarona. Which didn't even have the usage of Goldengo or Kingambit does now.
And without it, those two have taken over because it was a main check on them.
Except forcing players to rely entirely on reactive tera is a bad thing and a sign of something being wrong. It's immensely restrictive and warps gameplay around it

@pokeaimMD So even tho sash is already broken, you're thinking taking the chance for 2nd layer of spike + damage is > getting Sucker Damage? Always trying to figure this stuff out because in my head I'm like always Sucker but I didn't think about the possible spikes lead either, just assumed they'd take the KO on Samu rather than risk another big hit. Even tho Glim finished
