  • This video shows you how to change the engine oil on a Honda Civic 2.2 CDTI MK8 2007. I discuss the type of oils I used and how to change the oil filter.
    Apologies for the mix-up of the sound at the beginning and for the slight repeating loop.

      £1000 with 78k miles that's very cheap. They're about £1,700 for a decent one with 100K on lol.

    Was going to do mine, cba to remove tray, will top up and do another day, good video 👍

      In middle of tray, I have a metal plate, remove that and can get access to drain plug, saves removing whole tray, I couldn't get front bolts to undo so bent tray out of the way, is thin so will reshape it, I would never have guessed where filter was so thankyou for that info brother 🤜🏼

    Am i the only one who uses a 12v electric oil drainer? They are super cheap last at least 5 years, because you're not undoing and redoing the sump plug you don't have re-new every time, you can easily measure what has drained out of engine, an it litterly takes around 14 minutes to do a oil change, whilst remaining 100% clean the entire time.

      Consider this, if you're happy for the garages to do the same when it's service time for your car, then I guess you should go ahead, however if you think, if you paid for them to service and they use a suction device and you feel short changed then I would say that you are doing for your car a sub-par job.

      @@EducationPineapple Same could be said when you buy cheap replacement parts i.e Cheap oil an not Honda's official Oil. and i used it and neighbours and what has come out of engines or exactly what owners have said they put in 1 years ago. So they work and make it effortless.

      @@stevenparanormalvisitors some cheap parts are perfectly fine...some not so much...oil is different...if minimum specifications are met according to the handbook, then it is fine. Some oils are probably better than what say Honda uses at their service stations. Do you think what oil Honda uses is better than Mobile 1? I doubt it. Ford services uses castro oil. Do you think castro is better than Mobile one? The process of removing the oil sump bolt does other things apart from allowing you to remove all the old oil plus more likelihood of changing the canister filter for bottom filter placement cars, but also for removing the tiny little metal bits that have accumulated at the bottom of the sump. These bits could be picked up and ran through important part of your engine like your cylinders rings. So you save time and effort with suction devices, but there's a trade off for that. Bit like bringing up kids in front of a T.V. ... You pick your method, you might pay the price, but at least you know why.

      @@EducationPineapple Yea before pouring out the oils, we ran a powerful but small Neodymium Magnet, and you'd be surprised how much it still collects in regards to fine particle metals, In fact it could be argued a suction is better than the sump plug drain, rip a tea bag open in a cup of water wait for the leaves to reach the bottom of your cup... then pour it out using gravity. Then do the same thing again yet suck it out with a small tube, i can bet the suction removes more Tea leaves (Particles) then simply draining does..
      Also am not referring to having a car for 10 years and running an electric pump every service am talking like intervals like every 7,500 miles even if product suggests its good at 15,000 miles. Maybe you just bought the car an unsure if they truly did do a proper service or they have but you think they have not used the correct oil or recommended oil a 15 minute job with an electric pump is better than a 2 hour job with mess to clean up after.
      I wholeheartedly agree do a job properly and do it good the first time,
      An i mentioned Hondas own oil as thats whats recommended for their Vehicles, it's still open to debate on weather theirs better oils ect, take this car for example did you know the honda hatchback 2.2 diesel was spec for using only 0w30 oil as the car is well known for drinking it every couple thousand miles a liter would be gone? Suddenly the manufacturers have now said use 5w30 as it won't break down an be burnt off so easy.
      Might i add i worked in a garage for 3 years after getting a work experience program after school, so i know all to well the dangers of cutting corners, an you won't believe half the stuff we've had to fix or condemn, from oil being put in the steering fluid? Antifreeze in the oil, People jet washing engine bays.. The list of stupidity was unreal.
      Simply questioning weather or not people or using the electric oil pump in this day an age is more than a valid question, considering anyone watching Tutorials may not be as skilled, they might not of attempted a service before. So they see my comment, check what an electric oil pump is then for £15 is a no brainer, when you just simply want a quick change, it saves them like £80 to take it a garage an have it done. Given the fact 2020 has been a year from hell for most people, where job security is on and off the table, people want to save their time and money. An have the benefit to know the jobs been done properly.
      As i caught garages & private sellers using all sorts in their cars, air filters squished in the filter housing, knocking dust and dirt out of the filters and putting back in, wrong oils used or infact no oil change whatsoever, even traders who buy cars an syphon out almost all the fuel. How many times have you bought a car from a dealer an the fuel gauge has been practically on empty, Their you go they drain it an have free fuel for them self i know a guy now who works for them and gets the fuel home and sells it on Facebook they roll up his house every weekend an he just empties jerry cans for half the price a pump station would.

    • @EducationPineapple
      @EducationPineapple  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      5w-30 should be fine. It should be 0w-30, but that stuff costs a lot more and the 5w should help with older cars to seal the piston rings better. 5W definitely for brand new cars though.
