      Agreed I have been looking for this for ages so now I feel confident I can do it. I also need to replace my EGR a pipe as I have fumes in the car and I think that is what is causing it. If you do a video of that I would be eternally grateful 😇

      Thanks for the feedback. Sadly I no longer have the honda so there won't be any further videos. However, if this video helps you, please subscribe as you tube won't pay me any money from ads until I have over 1000 subscribers (GRRRR!). Enjoy your Honda :)

    Just wanted to update... Finally got round to doing this and OMG!! the holes in both ends were pretty much blocked.. I would highly recommend doing this, it runs so much better now and this is the best video I've seen on how to do it. I'm a complete novice but by following this tutorial I managed quite easy and certainly saved me money not paying a mechanic and also gave me a great sense of achievement that I'd did it myself.
    Thank you so much for making a great easy to follow tutorial. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

    You’ve given me the confidence to do it myself.
    Just bought a 2008 civic and on extreme acceleration to burn off BMWs it has a little smoky cough.
    So I’ll clean the EGR and then use an infuel DPF cleaner.
    Bit of a blow from the exhaust as well so once that’s sorted it will be a weapon.👍🏻🤫🤐😬

    Started slowing down to a stop and pressing the accelerator had no effect. Followed your great instructions and the car is running as good as normal, nice and nippy, used a bit of carb cleaner to get rid of some of the carbon. Top video, great help.

    Nice straight forward video thanks. I have one question. On my car (Honda CRV 2.2icdti) it too has the egr valve in this location but connected to it via tge egr pipe, on the right hand side of the engine is another similar looking component. On another video elsewhere this other component is shown as being the egr valve. Would you be able to shed some light on this by any chance? Thanks again.

    • @seagew
      @seagew วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi, I never actually got round to carrying out the work but from another source I was told that the assembly to the right hand side vented to the exhaust system and wasn't necessary to clean however my own reckoning was that if the egr valve required cleaning out then the other assembly would be in a similar state and so if doing one then it would be beneficial to do both. It was another TH-cam video that showed the dismantling of the other assembly which I can't seem to find right now. If I do find it I will post up a link. Sorry I couldn't help with more definitive results but hope that is of some help.

    Wow that was really clogged up! I think EGR and manifold cleaning should be considered part of routine servicing for diesel engines, it should be done every 3 or 4 years max because the engines always run better with a clean valve and a clean manifold.
    My Civic needs a full service soon so I will do this at the same time I do the oil and filters. Car is on 160k and I've no idea if its even been done before so this will be interesting!

    Far easier access that my former 1.9tdi 06 passat, currently driving a trusty 1.4 corolla and only considering going diesel again for motorway use. The only drawback with modern diesel engines is the egr value and turbo trouble. The accord looks quite straightforward to access and clean though. Any owners got any problems to look out for on a 2009 upwards considering buying one soon?

      As I understand it, the valve can actually stick so cleaning it improves the airflow and unsticks the valve. Cleaning the intake manifold would be useful as well (although mine was nowhere near as blocked as the EGR valve) but you don't need to to get most of the benefit and it's much harder than cleaning the EGR.
